  1. It's finally happening. It was only a matter of time. News from Drudge's page... it appears the elevated gasoline price is affecting the thoughts of consumers and investors. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050812/D8BUAHE00.html Look out so you don't get hit by those falling stocks.
  2. I'm listening to Kind of Blue this evening (9:45PM). I haven't listened to the full album in a couple of years. It's just damn good.
  3. Maybe it's because I live in and grew up in the USA? Maybe it's because I attended college in the state of Arizona? I don't know. However, I didn't know the significance of the year 1066 till I checked it via Google. Now, 1776... I'd get that one.
  4. Wes, your public awaits your pronouncement! or ? ← Errr... She looks good in high heels?
  5. I do appreciate the women who wear high heels.
  6. My copy of the Anita O'Day Mosaic box arrived today.
  7. Dog? ← Panda?
  8. Leave me some chicken wings and some cheap beer. This is all I ask.
  9. A Jeep would have no problem with that big fucking thing.
  10. I agree with you. I like it when the jazzers stick to the jazz. My Anita box should be arriving today.
  11. No offense taken. We don't make these cars, we buy what is made available to us. We hope to make the best choice for our individual situation. I believe the high roll-over risk was greatly reduced when Chrysler redesigned the Jeep in the 1980s. I've had mine on many mountain sides recently and have yet to tip it over. Of course, off-road driving takes place at about five miles per hour versus much faster highway speeds. I don't believe a Jeep makes for a good everyday car, driving to and from work. The Jeep is fun but rides rough, has no storage space and uses more gasoline than is necessary. I prefer to drive an on-road car around town and drive the Jeep on the weekends. For general safety? I believe there is no comparison. The Jeep is the safer vehicle. It's got an old-fashioned, American made frame underneath. The Plymouth... there's no old-fashioned frame under there. I'm not sure what holds it together. Here's a picture of a friend with one of those no-tip-over Jeeps.
  12. Man, I know what you mean. When I drive the Jeep I feel much more safe than in my lower-gas-usage Plymouth Breeze. I've often thought, if I was smart, I'd drive the Jeep, pay the money for the gas, and live a little longer. I can picture one of these new, lower-gas-use vehicles (such as my Plymouth) bouncing right off the Jeep if contact is made while driving out on the street.
  13. Mr. George Bush! Mr. John McCain!! What about the southern U.S. border? Do you know? Do you care? There's NOTHING protecting us down there. I've seen it myself. There's... nothing.
  14. I feel for you, man. I can only imagine paying that much for a gallon of gasoline. When you live in a town, such as I do, that was built around the automobile, the car becomes quite a necessary item. When you have governmental leaders, such as I do, who appear incapable of protecting the borders of their own country... I'm thinking the price of gasoline is not the first thing on their mind.
  15. You might not like it at first. But, you'll come to enjoy it. I was surprised that I did. I'll have to investigate the threads on this Board. If I remember correctly, I purchased the Gerald Wilson box on 'your' recommendation. Thanks, by the way.
  16. Is this the disk that contains the pop tunes (such as 'Light My Fire')? On my first listen to the Gerald Wilson box I disliked the pop tunes very much. On subsequent listens, however, I've learned a new respect for Wilson's pop tunes. The pop tunes are not the best of the set but they are enjoyable. Wilson did well at taking the pop tunes and making a big band of them. When my mood is right I enjoy the hell out of Wilson's pop arrangements. Still, yes, I'd rather hear Gerald Wilson do jazz.
  17. Last week I took a look at cowboy boots. I live in Arizona and western boots are very available at many stores in the area. To my surprise, the 'affordable' cowboy boots are now manufactured in China. Yeah, the Chinese boots cost fewer dollars. But, the Chinese boots are not the same product as the boots made in Texas. The Texas-made boots are still made of leather. Who knows what the fuck the Chinese product is made of? I don't believe the Chinese product is made from a cow. If the manufacturers are going to give us a cheaper product, why not make said product in the USA? I'm willing to pay more money for the genuine article and to keep my bretheren employed. I'd still have the option of purchasing an American-made, cheaper product (if I didn't want to spend the required dollars for the real thing) while keeping my friends, family, and countrymen working. Dr. Martens shoes used to say 'Made In England' on the bottom. Now, they say nothing on the bottom but they do say 'Made In China' on the inside. Again, the Chinese product is not the same product as that which was manufactured in England. However, the retail price is about the same. And, the southern U.S. border is wide-the-fuck open. Come on terrorists! Come on in!! There's NOBODY watching you. Nobody. We have the airports secure but our borders are wide open. So, don't waste your time trying to 'fly' into the USA. Just 'walk' in. It's easy. I'll show you where you can cross and nobody will notice. I've done it myself. Errr... yeah, could I buy some o' them Chinese-made cowboy boots? It's the way I likes 'em.
  18. I expect the "Oil Administration" to, at least, protect the national borders. They aren't fucking doing that either. If they can't protect the U.S borders what the fuck do they care about the price of gasoline? Oh yeah, they don't. Maybe we should manufacture some more shit in China? I love purchasing all those Chinese imports. Anybody remember what it feels like to wear a pair of American-made shoes? I don't.
  19. Fuck. $35 dollars, today, to fill the gas tank on my Plymouth Breeze just so I can drive my worthless ass back-and-forth to work. I'm hopped up that I don't depend one of those SUV's for my daily driver. Still, fuck me and the current price of gasoline.
  20. Okay, that one could have been left off, admittedly. But hell, it's not as bad as the "obligatory shitty goofball song" Emerson, Lake and Palmer used to include on each album... ← Yeah. Or anything from the fourth side of Pink Floyd's 'The Wall.' What a piece of shit, that fourth side.
  21. I don't know if there's any truth in these words but this is the story I've read on more than one occasion: Monk's importance to be-bop music is paramount, in fact he invented the term (originally calling it 'Bip-bop'). http://www.muzikifan.com/monk.html
  22. I've had the J.J. Johnson Mosaic box in my possession for about a year. It's good. At times, really good. I have to admit, however, I've yet to hear the entire contents of the box. Shame on me. My Anita O'Day box should be arriving within the next couple of days. I pondered my purchase of the O'Day box due to its price tag. Upon consideration that Anita O'Day is my second favorite female jazz singer I felt absolutely compelled to order the Mosaic box. I'd be speaking negatively of myself for years if I'd missed the Mosaic Anita box.
  23. I purchased the J.J. Johnson box last year. I ordered the Anita box last night. As a result, for this poll, I had to choose Anita.
