  1. A very poignant observation no matter what side you're on.
  2. The one and only. Play, brother Elvin.
  3. I do believe Schlitz is a very under-rated beer. I don't know if people put it down due to it's reputation/name or the price (or both). I believe, if Schlitz or Old Milwuakee were offered to beer drinkers via a no-name glass, people would accept them as good American beers.
  4. Friday night's dining pleasure: a glass of Corona, and a large bowl of caldo de pescado served with fresh limes, cilantro, and corn tortillas. I'll get to the Old Milwaukee after I finish the Corona and the soup. I survived the work week. The weekend is here. I'm in the mood for some Horace Silver and some Sonny Rollins. B-)
  5. Bully.
  6. Oh yeah. Firefox is the superior web browser versus Internet Explorer, in my opinion. Did you get the updates for Firefox. It's up to version 1.02 as I type these words.
  7. This is also smart. I use Firefox 99% of the time. Some web pages are written for Internet Explorer and Firefox can mis-display these pages. Otherwise, Firefox is my browser choice. I use the hell out of the Tabbed Browsing option.
  8. Also, consider adding a custom Windows HOSTS file such as the one offered here. I keep my HOSTS file updated from this sight whenever an updated HOSTS file becomes available. You can hardly have too much protection from potential computer threats.
  9. Yeah, I know, you can't make me happy. But, how about a Hank Mobley T-shirt offered through Mosaic Records? I want my Hank.
  10. Norton checks for 'viruses.' The BAD items found by X-Ray Tech are probably not viruses. The BAD items are probably other types of malware such as adware, spyware, various browser hijackers and the like. You need Norton and other given anti-spyware programs such as the couple I listed in my post above. I've read some opinions that say, these days, Norton is not 'the best' anti-virus program (even though it's what I use). Some people recommend the free, online virus scan from Trend Micro located here. Viruses are only a part of the many items that can infect your computer in these modern times.
  11. Man, get the BAD shit cleaned out. Afterward, go here, get a copy of Spybot, get it updated, and set it to 'Immunize.' Go here, get SpywareBlaster, get it updated, and set it to protect you from everything. Your computer shouldn't continue to get infected as much as it has been.
  12. Not alone! I drink with my buddy Johnny Coltrane. Maybe my buddy Billy Evans.
  13. I hope Concord won't try to fix, too much, that which wasn't already broken.
  14. Post your software situation here. You'll probably get a good solution. I did a search on your error but didn't find an answer. http://forums.techguy.org/
  15. Lee Morgan was the 'toothpaste factor?' I never knew. I always thought it was Hank Mobley who found a way to make his sound more 'round' with toothpaste. I love this Board! I learn something new every day.
  16. This is what happens when we build our society around the automobile. As a result, the government needs to do some managing (whatever that means) of the price of gasoline.
  17. I drive a passenger car with a four cylinder engine (a Plymouth Breeze). I'm spending about $30 per week just to drive to work and back. It makes me wonder what it's like for those people who drive a gas guzzler every day.
  18. And, I drink it only when I'm at home, alone. Which, I've heard, is the worst kind of beer drinker.
  19. No more Jeff B please.
  20. Although there are good things about all parts of the USA, Arizona sure ain't Pennslyvania. I was surprised when I read that catesta is planning to leave Arizona. To agree with him, Phoenix is not the same as Tucson. In comparison, Phoenix is too big and too damned hot. Me, I'm not going anywhere. Everything I want is here. Hot weather, good Mexican food, cold beer, easy living, and nice people. Chorizo and eggs for breakfast. A favorite of mine. I've learned from the Hispanic people in the Tucson area, when it's hot in June, breakfast should consist of chorizo & eggs, or menudo, and a cold Mexican beer. You can find good tamales at Pepe's Tamales & Tire store. Pepe's offers some of the best chips & salsa and tamales I've had the pleasure of consuming. I was out last weekend with my Dad. We took a drive in his Jeep. Within 30 minutes of where I live we saw a ghost town, learned of some American Indian history, drove through a stream, talked to a rancher, saw a javalina, walked down an abandoned mine shaft, had a sandwich, drank some coffee, talked to a hiker, and tested the Jeep's mountain climbing ability. We drove back to town while enjoying a sunset of pure purple. At day's end we had a cold beer and some food in a Mexican restaurant. Yeah, it gets a little hot 'round here but it just makes for the pace of life being a little slower. There's nothing as cool as enjoying a Mexican beer in freaking Mexico (and knowing you can return to the USA whenever you're ready). You know, when you're in old Mexico, the Mexican beers don't say imported on them. When I get to feeling down about the USA, I make a day trip to Mexico (an hour's drive from my house). I come back home feeling oh-so-much-better about the life and opportunity offered by the United States of America. No. I have nowhere else to go. I'm staying in Arizona. This is a good place to be.
  21. When I listen to Steely Dan, I often have thoughts of a seedy, underworld, existence of life. At other times a beach seen, warm weather, fun times, good booze, jazz, and good old American fucking around, day-to-day life. All the characters in the Steely tunes, to me, seem warm. Even the 'bad' characters give positive vibes and have something interesting to offer. When listening to Steely tunes I've never had the occasion to think of Hitler, Nazi Germany, Germany, or any part of Europe. Again, another individual perspective on the songs of the Dan.
  22. I'm listening to the same. This Mosaic is near the top of my list of Best Mosaics of All Time. I wasn't going to purchase this set but took a chance due to positive opinions on this Board. I didn't know what to expect, yet, received one of the best Mosaic packages of all time. This is nothing short of spectacular, crisp and cool playing from all involved. I never tire of the music on this Mosaic set.
  23. The thing I enjoy about Steely Dan lyrics is that for every scenario that person 'A' can think of, person 'B' can think of another equally explanitive scenario. The Steely lyrics have filled my mind with all sort of positive visions through the years.
  24. How 'bout six Old Milwaukee Lights? Suits me.
  25. I drink beer whenever I desire. Sometimes it's every night. Sometimes it's only once every few weeks (yeah, right, like we really believe you, wesbed!). Yeah, whatever, man, just give me another Schlitz and another tune from the Byrd/Adams Mosaic. This is all I ask. B-)
