  1. I was out with the Tucson Jeep Club. My buddy is a guy I'd never met before. I don't know what the hell he was doing. No idea.
  2. This is a picture of me, last Sunday (May 15 2005), out of the Jeep and under the Arizona sun. Cheers.
  3. ELO's OUT OF THE BLUE is an excellent 1970s album. It contains 'Sweet Talkin' Woman', the song I blame for getting me interested in rock-n-roll music. If I remember correctly, this was a two record set that opened in the middle. When I purchased the title on CD it was a single CD without much album art. I miss records only for the album art and the fun extras (such as posters) one might find within the package. Remember The Rolling Stones' STICKY FINGERS record? It had a real zipper on the cover. Remember Led Zeppelin's IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR that was wrapped in a paper bag?
  4. I had some Old Milwaukee last night. I'll have some more while enjoying some jazz this evening. That Old Milwaukee is a darned tasty brew, ya ask me.
  5. Yes. I would expect so where I went to high school (in a small town in Idaho). They'd have the Old Milwaukee, the Schlitz, and the Pabst Blue Ribbon flowing freely. But, what the hell? I have the same items sitting right in my refrigerator at home.
  6. I'd not call the SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER soundtrack a 'guilty' pleasure. Rather, a pleasure. It's a damned good set of tunes. As is this: And this:
  7. I skipped my high school reunion due to the Classmates site. Not that I was going to my reunion anyhow (it's too far and I'm too cheap). Still, I chose not to pay Classmates for their service of letting me contact the reunion organizer. I believe I would have found some success in contacting my high school directly. The high school might have been helpful because one of the the guys in my graduating class is now a teacher at the same high school. However, high school was 20 years ago and I've made it this far without going back. I've always believed I would, some day, re-visit with my high school friends. Now, I believe I will never see them again, which rests okay with me.
  8. Should only take an hour or so (but will probably take longer). It's computer software, you know. Get some sleep. And, best of luck with the upgrade.
  9. Start the update immediately. We can jump over to The Back Room as necessary. http://www.jimdye.com/forum/
  10. I'm at home this Tuesday eve. The mid-May warming trend has started in Tucson. Summer will be here in a few days (if not already here). The internet weather pages are predicting 100° by Friday. Outside, the air is warm and dry. Inside, I have my air-conditoner running. I'm playing on my computer and listening to jazz (the TENOR MADNESS album). I delighted in a plate of Mexican food for dinner. I'm working on my third serving of Old Milwaukee as I type these words. I like to consume my beer from a glass rather than a can. Summer is near. I can smell it in the air. The beer is cold. The jazz is hot.
  11. Brubeck's TIME OUT is the one that got me into the music. Before Brubeck, I was listening to Chuck Mangione and Spyro Gyra. Something about this recording captivated me to no end and made me dig deeper into jazz. Much deeper than I'd ever thought I'd go. I used to play this album during the summer months and it would remind me of Christmas.
  12. I've seen only the first Star Wars film. I mean the first one. The one that was originally released in 1977. It seemed good when I was eleven years of age. I've lost interest in the Star Wars saga ever since.

  14. I don't desire CD burns or downloads. I want the genuine article. Of the thousands of CDs I own I have less than 10 CDs that are not genuine legal copies. The few 'burn' CDs I own are copies of OOP material. One of my CD burns, for example, is a copy of Tina Brooks' TRUE BLUE which I copied before the RVG was released. Another is a CD copy of the Sam Rivers Mosaic which was copied after the Mosaic set went OOP. However, I don't purchase legitimate copies of CDs to provide the artist or the label with funds. I don't purchase legitimate copies of CDs to make the fucking FBI happy. I purchase authentic copies of the CDs only because it's what 'I' desire. I like the original liner notes and packaging. I enjoy the thought of having the genuine article with the correct labels on the CD. I know the sound is correct. I know the packaging is correct. I purchase the real items for 'me.' My point: do what works for you. If you desire/will accept a downloaded copy of certain music... download it. If a CD burn works for you... burn it. If you prefer a genuine copy... buy it. Do what you have to do. Get the music, listen to it, talk about it, let the music wash over your life, and enjoy the hell out of it. Get the music where you can. I've purchased more music than I can listen to. I've purchased more music than anybody I know (anybody I know in my personal life, that is). If you obtain a few titles via downloads and burns don't be concerned. Man, I've got you covered.
  15. Thanks for the link.

  17. I had the pleasure of viewing Crash this evening. In short, it was nothing less than a terrific film. Considering this film is still early in its release and considering this film is full of potential spoilers, I will write only in generalities in this post. The film is full of good writing, good acting, good camera work, a good choice of music and good directing. I enjoyed every minute of it. The characters appear genuine and fragile. As a viewer I was concerned about the fate of each character. I 'felt' for each character and wanted him/her to be well even when he/she wasn't doing well. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch each of the characters gain a new perspective on life during the progression of the film. The end of the film is very appropriate. The ending isn't happy nor is it sad. It is filled with a sense of longing for the times that have been and the times that have yet to be. This, to me, is the essence of real life. I departed the theater feeling very uplifted and clear of mind.
  18. I'd choose Steely Dan's Aja.
  19. You can run but you can't hide.
  20. I've got my Jack Johnson box playing as I type these words. I recommend you make room for the box. B-) When my mood is right I enjoy the box very much. The Willie Nelson tunes get a little redundant. Still the Nelsons are fun to listen to. Every version is different from the other. The set is a snapshot in time of what Miles was doing at the time. I enjoy listening to each piece. I enjoy the way the music flows from one form to the next. Sometimes expected and sometimes not. The Jack Johnson box offers a very goovy, quirky, funky, jazzy, and Miles-laden version of Miles. It's as if you had the chance to listen in on Miles in the studio and you indulged yourself. Play the Jack Johnson box, enjoy the adult beverage of your choice, let your mind wander, gather postive vibes, relax, enjoy, listen and learn... life is good.
  21. I use DSL. http://www.ultrasw.com/
  22. While playing bocce, my team beat the other bastards. Damned Italians.
