  1. And... your guess would be incorrect. It's not the fault nor the responsibility of Mosaic to make sure that 'I' get a copy of a certain title before it goes out of print. It's the responsibility of 'me' and me alone. If a single purchaser comes along with the money and the desire to have, say, the last 100 sets... Mosaic should sell the sets to that excellent customer. The more Mosaic sells, the more profitable the company is, hopefully, and the more new sets the company can introduce to sell to me.
  2. Sound quality of this set is fine, don't have a problem with it. A lovely set - gets a recommendation from me. A very good overview of ST's mid-size group sessions spanning the entire 1960s. Also works extremely well as a Stanley Turrentine tribute ← Yipe! The controversy about the sound quality of the Stanley Turrentine Mosaic makes itself known yet again. I enjoy Stanley Turrentine's soulful saxophone. I enjoy Ron McMaster's remastering work. I believe the Turrentine Mosaic sounds extremely good. I find no fault in Turrentine's or McMaster's sound. None.
  3. Interesting. The note from Mosaic does seem odd from a business perspective. To refuse a sale isn't very 'business like' in my opinion. Mosaic must be confident in its ability to sell the remaining sets. Still, if I had 100 sets remaining and a single purchaser wanted all 100 sets, I'd sell the 100 and be done with the sale. I'm curious as to what Mosaic's sales practices will be when the Mobley set finally goes to Last Chance.
  4. Methinks the Mobley is the better of the two Complete sets you ordered. However, both sets are highly recommended by me. Uhhh... you still need the Horace Parlan and the Stanley Turrentine boxes.
  5. I agree with other posts in this thread. From what I know, Mosaic has a license for only a certain period of time. Once the license expires Mosaic no longer has the rights to the material. In my opinion, Mosaic sets its prices for what it believes is reasonable in the new CD market. The secondary market sets its prices regardless of what Mosaic charges.
  6. These titles are still listed on Jazzmatazz for 'summer.' 7. Don't THINK about it too much. GET it. You'll LIKE it.
  8. White powder... such as that which flour is made of... such as that which doughnuts are made of?
  9. I'm at home tonight. I'm enjoying some hot wings and celery sticks. I'm listening to the Tucson police. ← I'm listening to the Tucson Police scanner. Again. ← I believe your next move is to purchase a metal detector. And some big ol' shorts to be worn with black socks. ← I have issues. Sigh.

  11. I believe it's time for me to make the two hour drive to downtown Phoenix.

    Chick Corea

Wow. I'd much rather hear the Chick Corea who played with Blue Mitchell than the Chick Corea who played with the Elektric Band.
  14. I've seen only the first Star Wars film. I mean the first one. The one that was originally released in 1977. It seemed good when I was eleven years of age. I've lost interest in the Star Wars saga ever since. ← And I believed my post earlier in this thread was a bit of a downer. I've still seen only the original STAR WARS film.
  15. If this has already been mentioned and I missed it, I apologize. It seems when I'm viewing the Today's Active Topics page, when I view a given thread then refresh the Today's Active Topics page, the number of views in the Views column increases by a factor of two (rather than the expected value of one).
  16. With bittersweet emotions I was not present at the Sam Rivers performance in Tucson. I was nearly on my way to the show, then wasn't. After reading of Sam Rivers' performance in Santa Fe I did not want to learn of a disappointing performance in Tucson. I did not want to alter my positive impression/view of the younger man who created so many wild/cool sounds on CONTOURS and FUCHSIA SWING SONG. If the elevation was too much for Rivers in Santa Fe then there would be equal negatives in Tucson, in my mind. Considering the all-day bus ride from Santa Fe to Tucson combined with the 100+ Tucson temperature... well, it wouldn't bode well for the man. Breathing problems and excessive heat don't seem a good mixture to me. At the same time there aren't many of the jazz greats still playing. I had my single opportunity to see Sam Rivers 'live' just a few miles from where I live. I didn't take the opportunity. Sometimes I think too much into things. This may have been a situation where less thinking and more action on my part would have proved beneficial. I'm glad to read of Soulstation1's positive review of the performance. I wish the best to Mr. Rivers. I'm glad he gave me the opportunity to see him play. At 81 years of age I hope he continues to be/play well.
  17. I'm considering going to the show tonight. But, damn, only 35 minutes? On the other hand, how many opportunities will I get to see Sam Rivers? Just this one, methinks.
  18. Yes. I believe it's better than The Beatles.
  19. This is just my opinion: It makes sense to me that Tuesday works well in the world of retail. Monday is slow but is spent recovering from the weekend's sales activity. Tuesday is the first slow day after the weekend. Tuesday gives the retailer a starting point for the rest of the week, to get the new product on the shelves, organized, and priced before the next weekend's sales activity begins on Friday evening.
  20. 92° at 10:00AM in mid May. It's going to be a great summer.

  23. This is Arizona. We have only 'fucking' guns here. The 'regular' guns are spread across the rest of the country.
  24. Yikes! What other guys? This is Arizona. If you want to carry a gun, carry the fucking gun. It's legal.
