The Hill and McLean titles that show up as RVG's are the most "famous" titles but them, the ones that will be touted as first purchases by those artists for the newbees. The Connoisseur titles are more esoteric in historical/critical terms, and, as pointed out, can be expected to sell less. Also simply titles that Van Gelder hasn't remastered. Who picks the RVG titles in each batch - Blue Note, Van Gelder, or a combo of both?

Mosaic's been working on a Hutcherson/Land box for several years. I suspect they're having trouble getting clearance on the Cadet or Mainstream Land dates, probably the mainstream. I like Cherry's Complete Communion with Gato, don't like the other Blue Notes very much (or hardly any of his other solo stuff, truth be told). Suspect that will get me in trouble here, but so be it.

Stanley Cowell - Illusion Suite is the one I'd really like to see on CD, but I can't imagine that happening.

I agree the Blue Note website leaves a LOT to be desired, just seem to push their latest hope for the next Cassandra/Norah breakout, and it's really difficult to get meaningful info on something like upcoming Connoisseurs. I'm ordering all of them except the Hope, which I have the original of. Would be helpful if someone can compare the sound on the new one to the sound on the old one for us. While I hear impovements over the originals on the RVGT's, I usually don't find it to be dramatic (better than the Impulse remasters, which I wasn't often able to hear ANY improvement on). I buy the RVG's anyways for the upgraded notes and pictures and because they are priced so reasonabley ($8.39 at CD Universe when new).

I don't know of that being on CD, would get it if it was. If I remember (I had the vinyl in a previous lifetime), that set was recorded after Billy Harper had replaced Benny Maupin in the group. Both were excellent foils for Lee. Harper is a monster, to me the most underrated musician in jazz.

What I'd really like to see Mosaic put out is the Chico Hamilton's with Charles Lloyd and Gabor Szabo. The Pacific Jazz stuff is nice, but really tame compared to the prime stuff with Lloyd.

If I lost my daughter, selling something on ebay would be the least of my concerns. She's wonderful - though in my primary failing as a parent, she came out of the musical closet recently, and confessed that her genre of preference was country! Where did I go wrong? Raised her on oldies, especially Motown, with doses of classic rock and classic jazz. Tim McGraw she found all by herseif, with no help from mom or dad. I was OK through her Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston phase, but now this! At least she hates rap as much as her dad does...

I have a personalized autograph from Richie Havens to my family when we met him at a concert, and he was such a beautiful person, and so wonderful to my adopted daughter. He personalized it "To my friends the Felser's", and that means a lot to me. Not something I'll ever be looking to sell on ebay, but rather something to keep in our family at least through my daughter's lifetime.

Hi, I have Joe Henderson's "Double Rainbow" CD autographed by Henderson ("To George, Joe Henderson"). Looking to sell or trade, best reasonable offer. I got this as part of a lot on ebay recently, already have the CD. The autograph is nice to have, but figure it may mean more to someone else than to me. Henderson was great, and I'm very thankful for his musical legacy, I'm just not a huge autograph person. Let me know if you're interested in this.

You have some "happy campers" here BUT: I find this pretty lame. If you took the time to make the list, the pricing details couldn't take much more time. Today I bought (maybe) 15 cds online and did not bother to scan your list 'cause I had no clue to your desires. ← I have, what, 700+Cd's out there? Say I spend 1 minute each to determine that they are not items selling for $30 or $1 on ebay, so that I don't grossly overprice or underprice them. That's about 12 hours, which I don't have. As I've already stated twice before in this string, most of the CD's on my list will be $6 or less, plus cheap shipping. With the other responsibilities in my life at the present time, I don't have 12 hours to spend pricing this list right now. If that causes me to lose some sales, so be it. Sort of like the knowledge that because I don't have time to browse the jazz section on ebay, I'm missing on certain bargains that I would have gladly paid the price for. You can only do so much. It was everything I could do to get the list together. It would take what, 3 minutes to scan the list and send me an inquiry? (my email address is right at the top). Also, I am very careful to not call a person's rationalization for their decisions lame if I have not walked a mile in their shoes.

I hope to get there some day, but I'm a husband, father, church elder, employee, and after all of those, a jazz CD guy. Majority of the CD's will be $6 or less. Lively group here, I like it. I was a longtime participant in Jim Sintetos's wonderful Jazz Trading Post, have happily traded with dozens of people. Many, I'm sure, participate in this site. Have concentrated on Alan Lankin's second Jazz Trading Post since then, and also list on AAJ and Jazz Corner. I also sell a fair amount on ebay, but don't like the idea of wasting people's time on a site like this to say "here's my ebay auction items". I try to have trades be win-win. I tend to both buy and sell for what seems to be the going rate on these sites (most of my CD's will sell for $6 or less), I try to do whatever I can to accommodate a reasonable trade request.
