  1. I'm in for all of them.
  2. I met him at Lennie's On The Turnpike in Boston in 67 or 68. I had finished medical school & was in Boston for my internship & residency. Lennie knew I was a physician. Wayne wasn't "feeling well". Lennie asked me to take a look at him in the dressing room. Miles was there & asked me "can he play"? He could & Miles couldn't have been nicer.
  3. Nice thread - BUT I disagree with the dismissal of Guitar Forms which IMHO is excellent.
  4. Continuing to watch Enlightened. Liking it more as it progresses. Last night's episode of The Good Wife - top notch IMO.
  5. Tommy Gumina from my old home town - Milwaukee. I like the ones with Sonny Clark.

    Enjoying my copy as well.
  7. I agree. You can "like" J Dilla - that's O.K. - but "jazz's greatest innovator" - come on.
  8. You think Chuck does it for the money!!!!???? I didn't mean that he's getting rich by reissuing jazz recordings. I meant that he's not doing it to get poor. Is everyone here really this naive? Why do I have to explicitly explain everything I say? Read between the lines sometimes. It keeps the mind young! "want to be a millionaire promoting jazz - start with 2 million"
  9. We've watched the first few episodes of the new season of Enlightened. Haven't seen previous season(?s). Quirky. Not entirely sure what to make of it yet.
  10. Blue 7 11+ minutes. Works for me.
  11. No turntable.

    Lee Morgan

I like the album with C. Sharpe. Also Lee plays All The Way on an album that's a great ballad rendition.
  13. Looking forward to the CD!!

  16. Looking forward to the upcoming Lloyd / Moran duo CD.
  17. Oy vey! Hope mine is complete when it gets here.
  18. Justified - tonight's episode.
  19. Freedom of expression for sure. BUT - maybe your next set can be of musicians who weren't destroyed by drugs.
  20. Yep, to me anyway, it sounds good. I'm currently listening to the latest GFG album, Girl and Robot with Flowers and this is good, atmospheric, slightly retro stuff and yet still sounding contemporary. The album is dedicated to the late Gordon Beck, a hero of keyboard/leader Greg Foat but the overall sound seems to be slightly reminiscent of Roy Budd - which can't be a bad thing, as he was cut down too early in life. There's also a bit of Brian Auger there too, certainly very Brit 1960s / early 70s influences but as I say, it ploughs its own furrows too, not copyist by any means. Definitely worth checking out here: https://soundcloud.c...-group-girl-and Picked it up. Enjoying it. Thanks!!

Moshi Too now available at Dusty Groove.
  22. Read it for our Book Club. I didn't like it either.
  23. Great book indeed.
  24. Amazon UK are usually very quick domestically if you are ordering through their warehouse. If it's from marketplace then you have to be much more patient as these are often coming from further afield. Quite a few of the cheaper things I've had recently have come from Switzerland and taken 2-3 weeks. FWIW, my order is from their warehouse, not from marketplace. Tracking (DHL Global Mail) has an entry as Croydon on Jan. 17. No tracking update since.
  25. Keep in mind that it can take a while for a package to cross the pond and be delivered. The other way around I usually get packages from the United States within 10-14 days, but sometimes it takes longer - at the moment I'm still waiting for a set that was mailed on December 26... I'm waiting for a package from Amazon UK that was shipped 2 weeks ago. OTOH, I received a package from The Netherlands (from subdist.com) in a week.
