    Billy Harper

a 'soul tv' show episode, nyc 1971 Max Roach, his jazz ensemble and the 22 voices of the J. C. White Singers. Joe Bonner: piano, Cecil Bridgewater: trumpet, Omar Clay: drums, Billy Harper: saxophone, Reggie Workman: bass the whole thing kicks off about about 9:50 it's interesting that out of the 4-5 jazz shows that survived on the web from the 'soul tv' program ... 2 of them are with billy harper. this one, and the lee morgan 1971 episode. and cecil bridgewater is on the same 2 shows as billy harper. this time cecil is with horace silver. list of most of the 'soul tv' shows https://www.thirteen.org/blog-post/guests-on-soul-show/

  10. there is this audio from a tv broadcast: 1970/71 is when kirk, lee morgan, etc. were fighting to get on tv shows. the "Jazz and People Movement" i.e. https://www.ctproduced.com/freddie-jazz-and-people-movement/ they got on some/few, but not nearly as much headway as they had hoped. kirk pretty much gave up on that movement after 1971. kirk invited some old timers for the first portion of the broadcast. 12. there's a fascinating thing about byard, maybe unique. i know from 2 sources that byard used to send tapes of his unissued music (concerts/studio) to fans. i know of people in uk, and usa who have received such gifts. and not just 1 or 2 tapes, but like 10-20 tapes. would love to find a 3rd person who's received such treasures.
  13. it'll take them alot more than 5 years to transfer/upload the entirety of that stuff. yes, concerts and long interviews, is what would be of most interest to someone like me.
  14. there's more to the phil archives than the west end. i remember grabbing an uncirculated sun ra wkcr 45min studio interview from the old phil archives site. but if they want to concentrate on the west end, ok.
  15. for those who didn't get enough: joe shawler is a bit older here, he does an intro to a compilation of teagarden footages (probably compiled by himself and others) Jack Teagarden Far East tour 1958/1959 - part I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDQVovXGjHQ Jack Teagarden Far East tour - part II & Snader Telesriptions & "You Asked For It" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X2xUPdKqr8 (info thanks to marcel)
