  1. I definitely agree, a production company like Euroarts that did the "Play your Own Thing" (which I still have not seen) and the Keith Jarrett documentary which I have on DVD and is wonderful.
  2. I hated "Bird" when I saw it too, not enough focus on what made him a brilliant musician. Too about the drugs, and improper fact checking creates a problem. I have a feeling that, and I hope not, with Don Cheadle (he loves jazz)and Miles' estate (which I hope they are involved for more than just a money grab) the Miles film will focus far more on Miles' drug use, domestic problems and eccentricities more so than the music.
  3. Black Fire is a great album, Roy Haynes swings his butt off.
  4. Damn, RIP. Joe's drum solos were so creative, I love his "Castilian Drums" solo on "Dave Brubeck @ Carnegie Hall"
  5. I am happy and relieved things are settling down in Saitama according to my friend.
  6. I have many friends in Japan from college and thankfully they are all ok, one of my best friends Hiroko, she lives in Saitama, she and her family are ok but they are dealing with aftershocks. They were the first people I thought of, I was up all night worried on Facebook trying to obtain details. Electricity has returned to their home and surrounding areas although she and her sister have to sleep under the dining room table for now My friend Yuichiro is ok in Hokkaido though he too is dealing with after shocks. Another friend of mine is stuck at her university overnight. What scares me most, is I hope people with disabilities are safe, particularly cognitively challenged and people who need immense physical help. My heart and prayers are with everyone in Japan.
  7. Was "Fat Albert Rotunda" by Herbie the only album recorded at RVG's for WB?
  8. Whenever I go see Pat Metheny live he's always happy to meet with his fans. Even as tired as he might be he's very happy to chat with fans that have followed his thing for years and his memory is incredible. When I look at the stuff he's signed it brings me right back to that tour or show I saw. His management was trying to get him to leave when he was talking to everyone backstage after Orchestrion in Binghamton.
  9. "Holon" is great but I traded it in b/c I wasn't listening to it enough, I sort of have to be in a mood for minimalist stuff.
  10. Nice! I was afraid this was going to be an ill health thread.
  11. lolz Just my opinion
  12. I traded in my Babyface RVG's. To be honest, as a leader I don't find him that compelling of an organist.
  13. Yeah, I have that on order.
  14. Sarcastic of course That video made me barf
  15. I thought I read on here last year they were getting some of the Europe '67 shows together for official release?
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMbG79ttE8g
  17. Thanks for this information!
  18. We are fortunate that the playing on most recent releases featuring him is top shelf.
  19. That's sad news. His breathing sounds labored on the cadenza of "I Thought About You" on Joey DeFrancesco's "Organic Vibes"
  20. Sweet. Will have to check that out
  21. Really? Thanks for the info then.
  22. Stanley Turrentine: Look Out (Collector's Choice), A Bluish Bag (BN Conn) Monk: Misterioso K2 Herbie: Mwandishi The Complete Warner Bros. Recordings Trane: Expression Steve Gadd and Friends: Live at Voce Joshua Redman: Back East, Compass (rebought these two actually) Art Blakey & the JM'S: Roots and Herbs, Witch Doctor
  23. I picked up the Collector's Choice version today, got it for free actually, as I bought the requisite number of used discs. Anyway my question is, how is this old version vs. the RVG and Mosaic? Clips of the RVG seemed too bright to me, and this old McMaster is one of the ok ones it seems.
  24. I wish I could help you, I'd like a real copy too, but I just have the Amazon CDR version
