  1. I saw JOS when I was 17, which was the thrill of my life at the time on a double bill with Jack McDuff at the Blue Note. JOS was complaining to my uncle about the cabs, I was so sky high seeing my hero that, the fact his playing was standard and his attitude very poor didn't bother me.
  2. The trio is still darn great to me.
  3. Trust me, you can see flashes when your eyes are closed.
  4. Jack DeJohnette on his FB had an open dialogue with the fans on this subject, and I have to say I'm with Keith and Jack on this one. Fans have such a sense of entitlement when they go to a concert, and the main attitudes the effect the LCD of culture at concerts has been involved in jazz a bit too much. When I go to a gig, I enjoy in the moment, I know it is not my right to encroach on the performers with my personal needs to have a personal "souvenir". Jack explained when you are in the moment with your eyes closed putting your best into the music and you see the flash how distracting it gets, and I appreciated that perspective from a musician I admire so much. Needless to say some fans clearly don't get it and feel the need to treat the gigs as social events rather than take in the music at that moment.
  5. I remember when Bret had that Bird Lives site, he wrote a fictional parody of this interview. JOS was so bitter about a lot, seems he didn't start his career that way.
  6. Akiko is wonderful!
  7. Unfortunately, Leon Spencer, Jr. passed last year.
  8. That playing is so lame. LOL
  9. Really? theres a site where ECM albums can be streamed? But anyway, you are welcome
  10. Go for the classic 1986 "Still Live", "Tribute", though Jack's drums are very high in the mix, but it's the most detailed recording of his drums I've heard in a Standards Trio recording. The "Standards I/II:Tokyo" DVD set is great too.
  11. Did you finally get "Somewhere" Craig P? I think it ranks among their best.
  12. The disc 2a&b jewelcase right? I hate when the teeth bust or the hinge breaks in those jewelcases for doubles. I have had to replace quite a few of those recently.
  13. I'm glad I decided to hold on to this. What I always found odd etherbored is the what sounds like artificial reverb added to the "Hank Mobley Quartet" session which sounds so different the usual spring reverb RVG was using. Is that present on the TOCJ?
  14. I have other non music related items I can part with that I'm selling now, I moved recently. The music stuff is hard to part with. $80 bucks for a temporary fund, vs. living with the music another several decades, the having the music wins out. There are other sessions in the box still not available, at least not legit.
  15. Thanks for looking everyone. I think I'm going to hang onto this one as it may lead to regret for not having quite a few of the albums once this thing is gone for good. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone. I gave it a lot of thought before putting the listing up and after, thanks for looking.
  16. "Thinking of Home" was quite good, I took it out from the public library in Binghamton years ago, though I don't remember much of the album, other than it was more expansive in Mobley's language.
  17. I think the talk towards the 50's stuff has made me think if I sell that Mosaic I will regret it, it's worth keeping just for the quartet session alone.
