KG I enjoy very much, especially the "Songbook" album. He got sent over to Nonesuch too huh? I hope he releases a live one soon too.
  3. picked up "Miles in Tokyo" last night, great album! "Miles Davis in Europe" is pretty damn good too.
  4. I love both. Hubbard I think has a rounder warmer tone, and Lee's is sharper and brighter, and Freddie tends to go for intense heat right away, playing some astonishing ideas and going for more out playing. Lee builds up the intensity, although by "Live at the Lighthouse" I feel Lee absorbed a great deal of Hub's playing, just listen to his trades with DeJohnette on "Speedball" he attempts one of Freddie's famous trills, a bit slower in execution, but its there.
  5. I got it today in the mail. Great album, honestly I think of it as a fusion record and hear more jazz, Latin and African elements more than anything. The drum solo on "Kyoto" I totally hear Tony, Elvin and Jack DeJohnette style ideas integrated through it.
  6. ok, this conversation is going way past my grasp, I'm not a Santana hardcore just casual.
  7. thanks for the recommendations everyone!
  8. thanks for the heads up BFrank. I really have no idea about "The Swing of Delight" record, FFA.
  9. I bought "Moonflower" the other day (my first rock album believe it or not) and enjoy it. Tonight I ordered "Lotus", which I've heard is another more jazz fusion oriented album, which is why I ordered it. I think of "Moonflower" more as a fusion album rather than a traditional rock album, as I'm not a big rock fan. How is the music on "Lotus"?
  10. IMO, "Still Life" is the superior album, just a string of memorable compositions. "Letter From Home" is good too, just a tad uneven.
  11. 24 bars huh? I counted 20 something, I was off by four.
  12. what is the bar length of this tune? the A section seems really long.
  13. I have bought one copy of RAM, the recent reissue. I would much rather pay a fair price for a single disc of live recordings rather than pay for buying the entire original album over again.

    yep.
  16. wish I had money to throw in.
  17. nice, I like the white and ebony B-3's. Has anyone had one painted blue?
  18. they sound fine on my stereo Jim. (Technics amp and speakers and a DVD player) I don't hear any bogged down compression from MP3's. I can usually hear that stuff in the cymbals.
  19. cool, thanks.
  20. yes, its the best thing the PMG has released to date, and that is saying something.
  21. I had an emusic subscription and downloaded and burned maybe 25 or 30 albums. Do I have legal copies of the albums or would it suit me to buy the actual discs in time? These are the only burns in my collection outside of me making individual burns of albums in boxsets for convenience purposes.
  22. Allen, I think you are being unfair to Metheny. You may not like his tone, but he is truly one of contemporary jazz's greatest musicians. His new work, "The Way Up" goes far beyond anything any jazz guitarist has been putting out in the moment. If you don't like Pat, I would assume you dislike Herb Ellis, and Pat Martino, also?
