wow I remember some of those too!

I'm holding out for PS3, because Sony usually has the games I want to play plus I have stuff from PS1/PS 2 so the backwards compatibility makes sense.

any other fav. reviews? I was looking at Grado SR-60's and I have no doubt they sound incredible but the fact I read they don't travel that well for portability, and that they don't seal out much ambient noise is a concern to me. Plus they aren't in my budget, so I hope I will make the right choice going for the Sennheiser's with the amount of money I want to spend.

I think I may need to change my headphones especially since my music w/o headphones has disturbed the neighbors recently. I have $40 noise cancelling Maxell headphones that have fell apart in less then a year, so I only really want to spend $20-30 on a new pair, and I've heard the Sennheiser HD 202 are pretty decent for the price. read a couple reviews o/l but what do everyone here think? thanks

sure, I'll bring this back up for discussion. Really? "In N Out" as a progressive album with a trumpeter doesn't sound all that out to me. "Our Thing" the title track, yeah with that modal stretch, but as far as Joe Henderson goes on classic Blue Note goes "Inner Urge"(especially) and "Mode for Joe" sound way more "out" to me. And Freddie on Herbie's "The Egg" is pretty out there too. That tune for me is just kinda, LOL!

I like the cardboard slipcases. do you mean the plastic see thru ones like Miles "Round About Midnight" Legacy edition, and Trane's ALS deluxe?

$7.99 here. Altho at my Coconuts I saw a used TOCJ of Herbie's "Inventions and Dimensions" for $6.99! I have the RVG so I didn't go for it, but I told my friend about it and to go snap it up, as he has a collection growing. I never see Japanese imports of anything round here where I live. Now, if that was JOS "At the Club Baby Grand" vol. 1 or 2, I woulda been all over that

last night at Binghamton University: Slide Hampton, Cyrus Chestnut, Jim Rotondi a sax player I can't remember the name of (Labelle was the last name I think) John Lee and Dennis Mackrel. Damn did these guys smoke, Cyrus had a beautiful "My Funny Valentine" feature, and there was a funky burning "Manteca" as well, at the end of "Night in Tunisia" Rotondi did his best Mogie imitation, I actually shouted out "get mad!" Met Cyrus and Rotondi after the gig, Cyrus signed my Roy Hargrove CD, sweet cat, and Jim and I were talking about Freddie and Woody Shaw, the sax player said he had really wanted to work with Woody because "he was really the only one doing anything new" and he was tight with Carter Jefferson, but as we all know what happened to Wood, the sax player never got the chance. Also Rotondi and I were briefly discussing "Alexander the Great" from Eric Alexander, and he told me as a horn player, that RVG's is the best sounding room he ever played in.

outside of "Legacy" yes, it was his last album where he was billed as the leader. Right before JOS had passed Joey got him signed to Concord and was going to produce a new CD for Jimmy but unfortunately it was too late

Although for the "Charles Earland: Live in Concert" I've read one track ("Morgan") is edited, is that true? And for those of us that d/l and burn from emusic, do you consider that having a "real" copy of the album or do you go out and buy the real CD afterwards?

ditto. To me extreme out playing is Peter Brotzmann, or some of those EAI things but Trane always had something to say in the blues.
