  1. that's a great cover!
  2. I wonder how Michiru's friend found the board.
  3. already got it
  4. congrats Jim, you are now an internet celebrity!
  5. that Spectrum solo from Jack just blows my brain out
  6. well, it says Hammond organ on the back cover so, its the real thing, certainly sounds like it. Back to the music, they really make a nice transition from "I Fall in Love Too Easily" to "Love in Blues" which reminds me of something from "Turn it Over", for me it flows as one long track. Scofield's playing really surprised me on this set, he digs deeper than any other time I've heard him.
  7. I think Goldings plays the real deal, the picture of their gig earlier in the thread shows a B-3 on stage. I enjoy the music so much, and the tunes are all pretty long, but each disc clocking in at 55 and 56 mins and change respectively, seems to go by in like a half an hour! If this is a whole gig, that's great tho. The more I listen I forget this is a Lifetime "tribute" because these guys are doing their own thing.

::bored voice:: I am standing on the corner
  9. Goldings does some freaky slides with these odd pitch changes, his B-3 must be running thru midi on this album or something.
  10. I agree skeith. You hear Jack's solo on "Spectrum"? I can't get thru that without hitting the search button to hear parts of it over and over. It may be the best DeJohnette solo I've ever heard, that is saying a lot. The music is so good the discs feel a lot shorter than 50+ mins each.
  11. up. come on, anybody else get it?
  12. it's a combination of trilling and playing octaves I believe, trilling like the way Errol Garner did on piano.
  13. lol................. thanks David.
  14. After purchasing "Saudades" last night, I wondered. Eicher Creative Music or European Creative Music? I've heard both.
  15. yes, indeed, very sad.
  16. yeppers, and its a great version too. I tell ya, both the closers on each disc made me laugh out loud. They just go out man, "Emergency" is a gas
  17. I bought it tonight, I couldn't help myself. (yes, I have an addiction) Finished disc 1, man, DeJohnette on "Spectrum" whew.. ditto Larry and John. "If" is terrific also. One thing I noticed is "Allah Be Praised" is mistimed, its a lot longer than 43 seconds.
  18. I was listening to Up For It the other day after listening to this parody and I cackled at the Keithgasms. I haven't heard a whole ton of Jarrett albums like many here, but the tune "Tributaries" during its slow rolling vamp, Keith just lets out an "AHHHHHHHH" that either sounds like a) hes being whipped in a dungeon, or b) someone with mental challenges. I was dying the first time I heard that, and I was playing it for a friend who likes funny noises, he was laughing so hard he almost had tears in his eyes. Ok, if so many ppl have issues with Keith's "vocals", I have never heard about people complaining about Jimmy Smith, I mean when I saw him live, JOS just leaned into the mic and just groaned like he was on the toilet.
  19. I'm not a huge Sco fan either, but the fact its the three of them is just insane to me you know, great group.
  20. different strokes for different folks, eh?
  21. oldest CD: probably Count Basie Jam at Montreux '75, which is from 1987. when I started really collecting things on CD, this is one of the first things I got, tho I did not own it on LP, this was maybe '93 or 94. JOS' "The Master" would qualify also, have had that since it came out.
  22. I found this over at JC........... so funny! http://www.planetcanadice.com/Skits/KJOffer.mp3
  23. Amazon has soundclips, I will repeat myself, can't wait to get it, this album is off the hook burning.
