  1. Bailey was doing the high hat on all four back in 1958. For example listen to "Blues No. 4" off JOS' "Six Views of the Blues". As for Dawson doing the all 4 and Tony picking it up, in the i-view that accompanies Tony's Mosaic set, he says that Alan picked it up after he did it, perhaps that occured in drum lessons.
  2. edit: this was backordered and NOT available. the seller offered a refund.
  3. actually you do. A glass bottle being smashed to pieces on PMG's "American Garage"
  4. RIP there are some terrific photos and designs there
  5. and you'd think the beer bottle would be immortalized on "Workout"
  6. Head on, apply directly to the forehead! Head on, apply directly to the forehead! Head on, apply directly to the forehead! um...... anyway I requested a promo back in October so I hope it hits soon.

    MICHAEL BRECKER

well, tonight it was disc 1 of "80/81" and "3 Quartets" and tomm I'll spin his debut, "Tales from the Hudson" a few live shows, including an incredible one with Pat, Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart from Germany in 2000, and I'll watch the DVD I have of a great performance in '97 of Herbie's "New Standard" band from Montreux. Brecker, Scofield, DeJohnette and Alias are on fire for that one. Thanks again Mike for the beautiful music you made, though I don't remember much of seeing you live when I was 7, I will remember all the great stuff you put out as I have seriously listened to you. I bet you, Trane and Elvin are having one hell of a jam session up there

I am very sad. He has beeen my fav. tenor the last several years and I think I will spin "80/81" by Pat Metheny in a bit, which has some of his very best playing IMO. His first album is a classic.
  12. yeah, thats true. "what's that on the cover of Here 'Tis"
  13. I might have to check this out based on the talk you guys are giving it!
  14. "also Grady Tate's wife brought down some home cooked chicken, so we were layin back chompin on chicken and havin a ball" hey guys thats it........ on your next album have "Organissimo Rap" "we'd like to thank the cats on our board, Sangrey, Chewy, CJ, those are all some crazy motherfuckers, especially CJ, that Jimmy Smith, McDuff and Pat Metheny loving freak. oh yeah, chewy too, Hank Mobley's lover"
  15. I was unaware of Wounded Bird's reissue of this (that's because Jazzmatazz is not updated like it used to be) and I picked it up, had it on vinyl originally. Back then I thought this session wasn't so great but listening to it now, its got some great work from George Benson, and Grady Tate swings his ass off and of course the monologue is classic Organissimo has covered "Mimosa" so
  16. I have them too. My opinion of Legacy differs a bit from Soulstream, I think it's a great send off.
