  1. well, she's somewhat famous, no need to be rude about it Dan.
  2. that's a cool story that you met Frances Davis. Do most of the patrons know who she is?
  3. did anyone catch the "original sessions recorded by Ruy Van Gelder at Van Gelder Studios, Hackensack, NJ" on the back box cover?
  4. hmm....... I'll check to see if mine has the same problem. I find skipping only tends to happen with discs in mini LP sleeves or odd packaging.
  5. 7/4 have you tried getting dust off the CD? b/c these come in holders they are particularly vulnerable
  6. my set arrived in the mail today, awesome package design, great booklet, I'm so used to seeing Wolff photos from Hackensack, seeing how bright the room looks in the Edwards photos is cool. Great discography details too... The notes may not be as musically involved as the Woideck set in the red box, but they are very good. As was the case when I had the big box years ago, the Red Garland sessions remain some of my favorite.
  7. exactly
  8. mine has shipped already
  9. the Draper session is nice to have for completeness sake, but is it essential? no
  10. I had the big box, I ordered this a few days ago
  11. I bought Dresden as my first taste of Garbarek, I like it. I've heard some Garbarek in the past but not enough, I knew his tone though. I really the energy Manu Katche adds to the band and Rainer Bruninghaus' keyboards. Bruninghaus was Pat Metheny's choice for keyboards if Lyle Mays wasn't in the PMG.
  12. This should be nice, I hope to learn the details which led to Monk losing passion for music and stop playing, I mean theres no recordings after 1972 correct?

    Miles

    happy birthday Miles!
  14. I'm surprised "Afric Pepperbird" wasn't reissued as a a Touchtone.
  15. I'm discovering Jan Garbarek. Heard him in passing but liked soundclips of the new "Dresden" and ordered it. I know a lot of ppl feel his early 70's ECM work is better than his recent stuff. I'll have to track down "Afric Pepperbird" and "SART" at some point.
  16. this Miles tin box at FYE and Wallyworld with Cookin/Relaxin/Workin I have no need for it as I have the Prestige Quintet box. Is this box packed with the RVG's or OJC versions?
  17. the legit releases? or one of their bootlegs?
  18. which discs are pictured in the Legacy link with the 6 eye design with "STEREO FIDELITY" written? They must have changed the CD label design for some albums. I will wait till they release the DVD separately.
  19. great album. "Saudades" I still play often.
  20. I read this last week. Man, the comments towards Binney, Shorter, and Lonnie's sidemen are brutal.
  21. yeah it was expensive to buy in the store.
  22. "Jacknife" being the first right?
  23. I really like my Audio Technica ATHM FS 40 studiophones which I got to replace my blown Grados.
  24. yeah, it looks like an inside joke getting the drummer's name wrong lol.
