  1. There's a construct for ya'...REAL players. How does one make that list?
  2. What Wolff said!!!
  3. "Weasel Gere"?, i thought it was a gerbil!!!
  4. He's what, 42...and she's 26, right? And it will only last a few months, at the very most ... don't cha think? We still have a good chance. B-)
  5. Aw, man... enough with the deaths already! I loved Benny Bailey's playing. I saw him at the Village Vanguard in '95, and he was a huge inspiration at the time. He was very kind and approachable, too. R.I.P., Benny.
  6. I just heard the version of "Step Lightly" off of this set yesterday. I liked it so much, I called it w/ my piano & trumpet gig last night. It helps when your pianist knows about every tune ever written!
  7. Pau did have his way last night, but at the end Q. Rich stepped up and helped out with the D quite a bit. Also, Nash, Marion, Stoudamire, and Richardson seem to have better reaction times/ball instincts than most of their opponents...which leads to many fast break points, open 3s, points in the paint. I don't see Ming as having enough stamina to dominate a series inside against them. Duncan, well...maybe. I'd like to see Dallas win tonight, too.
  8. Thanks, Patrick. The image sizes are quite a bit bigger than they appear on the site. The largest ones are the Cannonball and the Bud Powell. The artwork on the Cannon is about 10" x 12", and the Bud is around 12" x 14". The rest of them pretty much appear on 8.5 x 11" sized paper, with variance of image size. Don Cherry is the smallest (just a head). If you want specific dimensions on any of them, let me know. Matt
  9. I dunno. The west is much, much more competitive than it was last year. I can imagine the Suns, Rockets and Spurs giving the Pistons a difficult time...not to mention the Heat. Bulls look good, too. I think it's wide open, but the Suns look really good. They play excellent team defense, esp. late in the game.
  10. Up again, and I'll knock $5 off of all orders by May 1. Thanks to all who inquired!
  11. Hey Mark, Happy Birthday to you!!!
  12. Damn! That was a good Bulls/Pacers game. I think I'll route for Dallas or Phoenix from here until next season.
  13. This is really sad. What an incredible talent.
  14. Getcha some Lee Morgan, some Sonny Clark, and some Tina Brooks.
  15. The profile almost looks inhuman, like a puppet holding a marischino cherry.
  16. A few, mostly as a guest soloist. Nothing very noteworthy!
  17. This is great work, Stephan. I like your style!!!
  18. Dan, I have to weigh in on that last comment: "it would happen all the time"...? That's just complete bullshit. Where's the precedent for that? "Spewing venom" is one thing, but remember that not only did that one asshat swipe at Sheffield, but his neighbor threw some type of icey beverage on him just before he released the ball. I'm not saying that Boston fans are classless, but something should be done about those two fucks.
  19. Thanks, guys. I really appreciate you taking a look. I'm knee deep in a drawing of Laetitia Casta right now, ...so I have to finish up with her and I'm thinking about working on one of either Chet, Hank Mobley, or Kenny D. I have a backlog in my mind of about at least a dozen that I want to do. RRK would be amazing, but drawing that many horns would be quite the work-out!!!
  20. Thanks, Jeff! I just thought of another option to put out there. 1/$25, 2/$45 3/$60. Shipping still included. All colors of matting are available. Matt
  21. As some of you know, I draw portraits of jazz musicians in graphite pencil. I'm starting to put together matted prints of these drawings to consign in stores in my area, not unlike the ones on my website (jazzdrawings.com, wonderfully put together by our very own AfricaBrass, or Jeff). I thought I'd offer up these same prints to all y'all at a discount, to earn some much needed cash, as well as to get an idea of which ones might do well in the stores. I'm also selling many of the originals, which are framed and matted. The original drawings of Lester Young, Erroll Garner, Mingus (w/ bass), and Monk have all already sold...though prints of these are available. You can get to the site by clicking on the "WWW" tab at the bottom of this post. The matted prints are $25 including shipping in the U.S., and at actual cost outside of the U.S.. PM or email me if you have any questions, or interest. I am always happy to hear ideas for future subjects, too. Thanks! Matt P.S. The "crispness" of the prints' appearance is best shown in the Blakey image on the website. The scans don't really do them justice.
  22. another vote here for "Angie" being . I think Mick still sings the shit out of it, even in his "compressed" range.
  23. Hmmm...very intruiging. I'd never even heard about this one.
