She must have gotten caught up with the wrong crowd. All it takes is one bad apple in her homeroom class and before you know it she's riding around in his pick-up truck, wearing his cowboy hat and listening to Young Country...Toby Keith and Darryl Worley have done more irreparable damage to the youth of America than Alice Copper, Ozzy Osborne and Marilyn Manson combined.

Thanks Al. And you're right, I'd still love em' unconditionally. Frankly, I'd prefer he do drugs and vandalize the neighborhood like a normal teenager than cross over to the dark side and become a Republican, but hey, you never know. Maybe we should name him Alex P. Ewing? And now for the update... We went back to the hospital yesterday and Melissa ran through the gamut of tests and her vitals all look good, so they sent us home again. Now it’s back to the waiting game just like before. Melissa has had a horrible pregnancy with Hyperemesis, Pregnancy Induced Hypertension and Preeclampsia. I’m very weary but have no room to complain with Melissa going through all that she has. Anyway, I’m back at work today after missing all last week and after submitting my Paternity leave. It’s proving to be a harder readjustment than I thought. I really don’t want to be here, but it’s better that I work now and save the time off for the baby and Melissa. Thanks again for all the well wishes and I’ll be sure to keep all of you posted when Melissa goes into labor for real.

Hello everyone. My 'still pregnant' wife and I are back home for a little while. The hospital staff has been trying to enduce early labor for the past 5 days due to my wife's Pre-eclampsia, but none of the techniqes used seemed to wanna work. Her vitals gradually stabilized so they sent us home for the weekend. Melissa (my wife) is fine, the baby is fine - we just have to go back for a check in on Monday and take it from there. I've slept in a hospital room for the past week, and let me tell ya', it sure is good to be back home, if only for the weekend. thanks for all the well wishes (both public and private). This place really feels like a extended family. We have are Roger Clintons and Neil Bush's, but what the hell, doesn't every family? I'll try to keep you posted if I am near a internet connection. Strength!

I didn't know he played guitar as well. Comedic genius as far as I'm concerned.

He's pitching for the Yankees now...I had no idea he played guitar too! Him and Berniw Williams can do duets together.

I like their "Edgard Varese for the Quiet Times" collection.

I posted this in another thread, but it seems like no one has of yet offered a review of the DVD "The Cry of Jazz" with Sun Ra. Here it is again: The thing is a joke. It's this group of whites and blacks sitting in somebody’s living room discussing race & and how it relates to jazz. It felt like a bad episode of the Jefferson’s with Stanley Crouch as George. The black brother schools the chronically un-hip and irritatingly defensive white guy. The sexy white girl is of course diggin' the heavy brother and he goes off into this pseudo-intellectual rant about how jazz is dead. In between you get tantalizing glimpses of the Chicago Sun Ra band circa 1959. Every time John Gilmore starts to take off, this guy chimes in with some more outdated rationalizations about aspects of jazz symbolizing some self-righteous idiocy. If this "intellectual" would have simply filmed the Ra band or did a documentary about them, the film would be a triumph. But instead he decided to lecture the audience about how "the changes" in jazz represent the never-ending cycle of pain that the "Negro" cannot escape without killing jazz…or some shit. What a bummer.

Who you used to NOT get, but now do

OK, it's not jazz but here goes.... I used to not like the Rolling Stones. Growing up I was a Beatles guy all the way (still am really) but once I moved out, got away from my brothers who also didn't like the Stones (still don't) and began to listen with a more open and independant mind, I found the Stones to be pretty fucking kick ass. Especially Begger's Banquit and Goats Head Soup. Now I listen to the Stones all the time, especially when I'm cleaning the house. They are great pick-me-up music! And Keith Richards guitar sound is one of the truely original things in Rock, period. -

Just in case anyone is interested, this site has authentic retro Negro League Jersey's for 59 bucks. Just got my Satchel Page KC Monarchs Jersey last week. What a bargain! Real wool replicas that normally go for upwards of $200 for $59! -

I assure everyone it is real. We're a big hit in Falluja from what he tells us. They call it 'Insurgent Music' over there. Who would have known?

This is a real, unadulterated photograph sent to us by a friend serving in Iraq. We gave him some stickers and he sent this back. For those who don't know, The Monktail Creative Music Concern is a musicians collective and record label that I am a member of here in Seattle. For more details on this photo and the collective in general, go to www.monktail.com.

That might be true, but I can't seem think that Johnson gonna run out of steam one of these years. Power pitchers usually pitch hard until one day, often quite suddenly, poof! it's gone! What is he, 42? I think it would be hilarious if Johnson ran out of gas pitching for the yanks this year. But I have learned never to count Randy Johnson out...he's areal gamer. As far as the M's, yeah, they seem like a brand new team! They went from one of the oldest and tired looking teams in baseball to being one of the youngest most promising in one off season. Now if we could just pick up a innings eating starter and a middle reliever we'd be ready to compete for the playoffs again. -

Sexson? Well we’ll see if he re-injures himself. But Beltre? He's only 25! He can only get better. Look at those numbers he posted last year: 48 hr's, 121 RBI, .334 average Beltre is gonna be a great hitter for the M's for many years to come no doubt in my mind. Plus Sexson and Beltre are excellent (gold glove caliber) defensive players. Add them to Bret Boone in the infield and I’d say they are one of the best defensive infield in the game. They do need to add a front line pitcher, but they also have a competent rotation in Pineiro, Moyer, Franklin, Meche, and Villone. They have the all upside rookie Bobby Madritsch as well as Rafael Soriano and Eddie Guardado at the end. Add a solid innings eater up front and a left-handed middle reliever and I'd say the staff is pretty solid. -

First Sexson, now Beltre! The M's are bustin' some serious moves this year! Now if we could just get a front line starter and a middle reliever we'd be back in the game and then some. The M's owners are scared stiff that if they have another season like last years there will be a fan mass exodus. You can only shtup your fans for so long before they revolt. -
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of "Another Place" on the Moers label?

Never liked Keith Jarrett. Don't like his vocalizations while playing, don't like his attitude, and I don't like the fact that he thinks he's the greatest piano player in the world. Oh, did I mention I don't like his stage presence either?
