Boy, you must have good ears..... There is a faint click at 7:32 but I'd never have noticed without you spotting it. Overall I'm very happy with sound.
  2. Love the album.....but still prefer "Crescent" from that period
  3. No, I almost never do and then only if there is a specific concert that I hear about (usually from here). As someone who knows what he likes, I prefer to put a CD on when and if I feel like listening to something. General background radio music has never really been my thing, it's too hit and miss.
  4. Thanks, John. There doesn't seem to be an automatic way of doing it so I've sent them an e-mail.
  5. I've placed an order for a CD I already own......I know, I know...... Anyway, it's not been shipped yet so I'd like to cancel it....but how? Anyone have the answer?
  6. ....it's not the heat Carruthers...it's the drums!

The early Stan Tracey's?... there's plenty of them that have never seen the light of day on CD.
  8. My BRUYNINCKX discography has it recorded on December 9, 1961.
  9. Do you mean the version that's on this recent reissue from Jonathan Horwich?

I pre-ordered from Vocalion... anyone know whether they notify when they ship?
  11. Depending on where you order from, aDE's 35€ might be the better offer: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00IOQSW7A/ I've eyed this, but I really know sh*t about the music it contains ... would it be of interest to someone (uhm, me) who prefers soul the raw southern (Stax) way? NO............
  12. In my experience PayPal charges immediately. Yes, they do. Yet another reason why I try never to use them.
  13. Nor the one-record effort of Ferris Benda. This is his Prestige Records thread.......
  14. Several years ago I created my own boxset of his Prestige recordings, in session order. Can't say it improved my understanding of his playing at that time but it was certainly an intense listening experience. Whenever I now listen to these recordings, which isn't often, I play them by album. My favourite has always been "4, 5 and 6". I much prefer his Blue Note recordings; "Let Freedom Ring" and "Destination Out" and "One Step Beyond" are wonderful.
  15. I believe you will see some action in the future from the Xanadu catalogue, but not from Mosaic. Oh.... do tell!
  16. http://www.jazzlists.com/SJ_Label_Bee_Hive.htm Thanks for that, soulpope. Just for interest, does anyone know why the Johnny Hartman has been excluded?
  17. I'm not familiar with what was released on Beehive ..... but I guess that's the attraction for Mosaic. Highlights anyone?
  18. Or if you'd like a boxset covering the same period then this is the one I'd go for: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Early-Years-1948-1951/dp/B000063CLG/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1416941375&sr=1-1&keywords=lee+hooker+jsp I would take issue with the "Re-Mastered" label on the cover. Remastered from what? I doubt that JSP had access to original acetates, tapes, or even bothered to seek out 78s to do anything like that. Agreed....... but let's face it none of his recordings from this period are the hi-est of fi.....

  20. Thanks, guys... those are the two I've decided to go for.
  21. Yep, it's fine now.... Jim, if I looked as good as your model in a tee-shirt I'd buy one.... unfortunately I don't...sorry!
  22. Latest batch of Boplicity reissues up for pre-order at Ace Records: http://acerecords.co.uk/a-time-in-my-life http://acerecords.co.uk/blue-mitchell-2 http://acerecords.co.uk/hadley-caliman-1 http://acerecords.co.uk/75--get-outa-my-way Anyone got any comments on them...?
