  1. ... first gig in UK for ten years, maybe?
  2. Has anyone noticed that Anthony Braxton is playing at The Colston Hall in Bristol next Tuesday? Apparently it's his only UK date and his first gig in ten years. I wonder how this came about? PS if it didn't clash with my trip to London to see Harold Mabern at Ronnie's, I'd be tempted..........
  3. Thanks for that.....both of you. Boy, that's some list..........
  4. Do you know how to do a search that lists them all, Lon?
  5. Nor could I..... although I'm sure the film was released as "Dog Soldiers" in the UK I particularly remember a scene on the deck of a cargo ship as Nick Nolte is returning to the US, where he is working out to a terrific piece of music on the soundtrack.... great stuff. It's here from about 15:00 mins... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0jqIM41IJM
  6. Booked in to see Harold Mabern at Ronnie Scott's on the 21st January. I love his playing and am looking forward to this very much.
  7. Finished this in one sitting yesterday. An interesting period piece describing a year in the author's life at the beginning of WWI. Thanks to whoever recommended this...
  8. ... and more time to think of their next line.
  9. Is that your meal or are you commenting on mine? The prunes and raisins make it. It's MY meal, I'm afraid......oh yes, and on Sunday I usually have the "full cholesterol".....
  10. EVERY day.... how sad is that?
  11. Thanks everyone. I hadn't even spotted that his first name changed from "Carl" to "Karl".....!
  12. I presume this is the same person...? ... so is it DREVO or DREWO?

Ah............. compared to a Japanese SHM CD. Well, it was never going to sound as good as that!

Is the Antilles album available on cd, or LP only? Never released on CD as far as I know. Got my copy from Downtown Music Gallery. It's a "privately released CD-R" ........ http://search2.downtownmusicgallery.com/lookup.cgi?item=2014_01_03_00_45_04

    Compared to what.....?
  16. I bought the Gigi Gryce set a while back and discovered that two of the albums it contains (The Hap'nin's and Sayin' Something) both come from mp3 sources. I guess Real Gone had as much trouble as us in finding 'proper' copies of these two!

I'd hold on another week. Delivery times can really stretch at this time of year. O.K. FWIW, an order shipped from Japan on the same day arrived in 7 days Delivery times seem totally random to me. I'm still waiting on a delivery from Japan that was dispatched almost a month ago.
  18. I think I've run through those three times now, foolishly getting rid of them each time so I have to rebuild the set when the urge hits again. I'm back up to twenty-three... I guess that's what the Kindle was made for.........
  19. Finished this in one sitting yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to whoever here recommended it (was it Chuck?). I see he's written quite a few others... any recommendations?
  20. Mine was hearing him play on the Atlantic album, "My Favourite Things"
  21. J.C.....of course.
  22. Money sent via Paypal. Thanks for all your efforts Jim, in keeping this board running.

That one's already out, got mine 10 days ago or so ... will have to order the Harriott soon, too! What's already out?......."Le Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe"? Still showing as due out on January 5, 2015 at Amazon.
  24. A bit underwhelmed with the contents of the book, although the presentation and quality is the usual high 'digital-to-dust' standard. As expected, the music is magnificent.
