  1. Welcome to Austin, I think you'll like the city! Waterloo has ALOT more jazz than what you noted, it's just that they don't categorize their music - it's all lumped together with rock, R&B, rap, etc, alphabetically.
  2. Happy Birthday!!
  3. Well, 2 1/2 years later I'm listening to Secret Chiefs "Book M" release, from 2001. Good stuff - got alot of Indian and Middle-Eastern sounds, mixed with some techno-ish rock. SC3 also have a release in the Zorn/Masada Book of Angels series, "Xaphan". Gonna have to check that one out as well.
  4. And in Raiders news, former #1 overall draft pick Jamarcus Russell has been benched for the rest of the season, in favor of journeyman Bruce "Who?" Gradkowski.
  5. I'd go see him as well, but it sure seems like he's got about 25 different live albums out there - which all seem to contain half Beatles, half solo stuff.
  6. Got any Wham or Paul McCartney?
  7. As a general rule, I have it on good authority that ECM likes the sound of its masterings, and that it does NOT do remastering. That's what I thought. IIRC they did remaster those "Rarum" compilations from a few years ago. Might be a way for David to sample an artist's ECM tracks in remastered form.
  8. The axe fell for Dick Jauron today after leading the Bills to a 3-6 record. I guess T.O.'s popcorn wasn't enough for the Bills.
  9. Happy Birthday!!
  10. Huzzah for Shane!!
  11. Not sure what that means, but they sure looked crappy yesterday. I blame that on coaching and playcalling. And a stupid play or two by Roy Williams. And a couple of very bad mistakes by the refs. Mainly they just looked crappy though.
  12. Urban Legend - Music Machine
  13. You know that's a computer generated image, right?
  14. Still thinking about Belichick's 4th and 2 decision last night. I commented elsewhere about this, but maybe the actual decision to go for it wasn't that bad, if he truly didn't trust his defense to be able to stop Peyton Manning. If that's the case it wouldn't matter where the Colts got the ball. But WHY didn't Belichick run a better play than that one?? Why throw a 2 yard pass on 4th and 2?? Why not throw a 5 yard pass? Why not throw something to Randy Moss 5-10 yds down the field, who likely could have outjumped anyone on the Colts' defense?? My gut still says they shoulda punted the ball away still, and force the Colts to earn the win the hard way.
  15. SS1 on a roll!!! My picked were awful this week. Belichick didn't help me either with his stoopit decision that cost the Pats the game.
  16. I think his bobblehead is to scale:
  17. Musta been a REALLY long bridge!
  18. Great price for a fantastic box set, I hope someone jumps all over this. Not literally.
  19. NFL admits to making a mistake on the play where they gave the ball to the Pack instead of the Cowboys, which resulted in the final Pack td. They also messed up another play, where the Packers challenged a play, but were out of challenges. They should have been penalized for that, but weren't. Jeez.
  20. I think that was the play of the game right there. Poor decision by Belichick - not sure any other coach in the NFL would have called that at that point in the game, at that spot on the field. Arrogance?
  21. Used to be a place called the CD Cellar in Falls Church that was fairly decent, but I haven't been there in years. Don't know if it's even still around.
  22. Price went up to $6.99 per cd on 1 January 2007 - almost 3 years ago. See your own post Number 891 in this thread...
  23. So far the Cowboys haven't played well at all today versus the Pack. Lost perhaps their most consistent O lineman, Marc Columbo, to a broken fibula. Mike Jenkins, their best cornerback, went out of the game, as did safety Ken Hamlin. But they just got robbed - Romo was hit and fumbled the ball, and Felix Jones recovered the fumble and was down by contact. After he was down, someone stripped him of the ball and the Pack recovered. Cowboys challenged the call, and the replays clearly showed Jones was down, with possession. But after going under the hood, the refs came back and said they couldn't review it, and gave the Pack the ball, 1st and Goal. Not sure why that type of play can't be reviewable, that makes no sense. The refs blew the initial call, which isn't the Cowboys' fault. So instead of it being 10-0 Pack, GB scored a TD and it's not 17-0. Cowboys had a chance at 10-0 to remain in the game, but not at 17-0, with 10 minutes left. Sigh.
  24. My picks are looking very good at all. Alot of upsets today - Jaguars, Redskins, Bengals, and Panthers so far...
  25. A&M not looking good against Oklahoma tonight. They had a very solid first quarter, except for a fumble that led to a TD for OU. Had a crappy 2nd quarter though, giving up 28 pts. I had thought they might be turning the quarter this season, but not so sure. The offense is decent, but the defense still is bad, very bad. Maybe the '10's will be a better decade for us. Sigh.
