  1. The Texas Tech Red Raiders fired their head Pirate Mike Leach today, after the brou-haha with Craig James' son over the past few days. Apparently after sustaining a concussion, Leach locked him in a room for hours on end a few times. Has to be more to this for them to fire him without any substantiation, but Leach has always marched to his own drummer, so I wouldn't be surprised if he had done something like that.
  2. In addition to the +/- scoring system, we also rate each other on a 5 star basis, if you haven't noticed. That one has been around for a while, but also doesn't really seem to serve much purpose. It's only noticeable on your profile page though, unlike the +/- scoring.
  3. has re-set their status to this now!

  4. Happy Birthday Tony!
  5. It can be easily manipulated; by voting on different posts by the same member you can vote that member's reputation "up" or "down" multiple times, so if you don't like a certain member, you know what to do... Just noticed that my reputation has suddenly leapt from -4 to 0 But because of that ability, the meaning of the votes are lost. I'm not sure there's really a good reason for voting on another poster in the first place. I can see where a person who doesn't like another person would simply vote against them for real reason. Especially some of the more controversial, outspoken members.
  6. By additional tracks do you mean the trio tracks? Other than on the box, I think those have only been issued under Bud Powell's name seperately? (here)
  7. Jim activated that feature back on Dec 20th (see here). I'm not sure what purpose it really serves though.
  8. It may depend on which edition of the Massey Hall show you have. I think the newest mastering without the Mingus overdubs is the '02 K2, and the newest one with the overdubs is the 2004 hybrid SACD. Unless there are more recent masterings from Japan or something. The JF edition may have copied the K2.
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. There's a note on their page for this set (in French of course) that seems to translate that any box ordered from them after December 18th are the "good" sets. Perhaps one of the French speaking board members can verify that, but that's what a web translator indicates.
  11. Happy Late Birthday, again!
  12. Welcome back Randy. I hope 2010 is a better year for you than the past one. Merry Christmas!
  13. Merry Christmas, and best wishes for the coming year!
  14. Happy late Birthday, Jeff!
  15. Interesting avatar there, Matthew!

    Best wishes for 2010.

  16. I think that's an option (i.e. $$) on most models. Probably only true audiophiles will really need that though.
  17. Texas A&M had been playing some pretty good hoops this year, and was ranked #19 going into last night's game vs. Washington. It was a back and forth game until senior Derrick Roland went up for a shot and came down funny, breaking his tibia and fibula. It was a gruesome break, though luckily the cameras didn't catch the actual moment. They said the sound of the snapping could be heard throughout the arena, and Roland's Aggie teammates were literally crying for at least 5 minutes afterwards. They lost their composure, and were never able to get back into the game. Roland was the heart and soul of the team, which was previously projected as a #5 seed in the NCAA tourney. I don't know if they'll be able to rebound from this or not. Roland was the team's best defender, and the best defensive player in the Big 12. You can see the bad angle in his leg in this picture (which I will remove if it bothers anyone)...
  18. Diana Krall - Quiet Nights (deluxe cd/dvd) Porcupine Tree - The Incident Bruce Hornsby - Levitate
  19. As we all know, the world will end on 21 December, 2012. That's three years from yesterday. Anybody got any exciting plans for the three remaining years we have left?
  20. While watching the G-men dominate the very bad Redskins tonight, I came to the conclusion that Tom Coughlin was the model for the goblins in Harry Potter.
  21. That view is not universally held.
  22. Have listened to about half of this so far, and really enjoying it, Jim!
  23. Exciting end to the Steelers/Packers game. Big Ben threw for over 500 yards, and the last TD was a beauty - the WR was falling out of bounds and got both toes down, as the clock ran out. After the review, play was upheld, they kick the extra point and win the game.
  24. Wow - the Cowboys beat the Saints tonight, 24-17. I'm still in shock. The Cowboys came out aggressive and never let up, which is sorta new for them. Ware and Spencer each had 2 sacks on Brees, and he fumbled twice as well. Plus Brees threw a pick on a long bomb that cost them a score. Romo looked solid, and has had a great December, which is new for him, too. I don't know if the Saints were off, or the Cowboys just outplayed them, or both. But regardless, the Saints' undefeated season is over, and the Cowboys are 9-5. Hopefully they can use the energy from this win and carry it into the remaining two games.
