  1. The Petty box is available at that price in the stores, as well as online (here).
  2. For U.S. members, Best Buy is selling the deluxe Tom Petty live Anthology set for $29.99. This includes 5 cds (1 exclusive to this set), 1 blue ray, 2 dvds, and an lp (a '76 live bootleg show). It was upwards of $100 when it came out 2 yrs ago.
  3. Has anybody ever tried absinthe? The real stuff, which includes wormwood. I had a taste on my overseas trip a couple of weeks ago, definitely a strong anise-flavor to it. Just wondering what other's experience with "the green fairy" has been.
  4. Happy Birthday, Larry!
  5. Pictures from St. Maarten two weeks ago:
  6. Classless plays by Odom & Bynum in the 4th quarter.
  7. Happy Birthday, Mark! And congrats on your recent DB cover, keep 'em coming!
  8. We went camping last weekend on Lake Mathis, and there were burn bans in effect everywhere. Severe drought conditions and very dry wood and brush everywhere makes for a seriously dangerous situation. I'm guessing it's just a matter of time before water rationing (at least for lawn watering) kicks in again.
  9. Thanks everyone! Going out for a nice steak dinner tonight with my bride and my two kids, so can't ask for much more than that! Hard to believe this board has been active for 8 years now - here's to another 8 and then some! I know you had to have been working on that for a long, long time, Free!! Well done!
  10. Happy Birthday, Flurin! Thank you for all you bring to this community!
  11. What? No PT, Blackfield, SW solo stuff??? There actually was a SW release for Record Store Day, but only in the UK, I believe. A split 7" vinyl with Oceanside, consisting of their tracks from the Tim Smith/Cardiacs tribute album. I dunno that I want this one track enough to buy the single on Ebay or wherever though. Might be easier to just buy the tribute album itself at some point! I think I have all the major SW recordings, but not all the guest appearances. Would be tough to be a completist!
  12. I ended up with the Crowded House live set and the Hendrix cd single. Was hoping to get the REM single box and the Pink Floyd live 66/67 too, but didn't see them.
  13. As an educator, I would certainly hope you know the difference between not proven guilty and innocent. The Feds had a case - Bonds' lackee chose to go to jail multiple times instead of stating the truth in court. If Anderson had nothing to hurt Bonds with, he'd have been there in a minute to help clear his buddy's name. But he didn't. It is difficult to prosecute somebody when the truth is not allowed to come out. I am sure Anderson will be paid accordingly. Regardless - Bonds *IS* guilty of taking steroids, self-admittedly. The visual evidence and on-field evidence certainly speaks to that as well, and earns him a big fat funky * for the rest of eternity. That is justice as well.
  14. If someone lies to a Grand Jury, they should be tried. You can't draw the line and say it's ok to lie to Grand Juries, about anything. Bonds has admitted to taking steroids. That's good enough for me (and I presume most realistic people) to forever put an ASTERISK next to his records. The real HR heroes: Hank Aaron - MLB HR King - 755 Josh Gibson - American HR King - 800 Sadaharu Oh - World HR King - 868
  15. As a self-professed advocate of the court he's now has to agree and accept that Bonds is a felon. And the 11-1 vote merely echoes what the vast majority of the population believes - that Bonds lied.
  16. Remarkable how two PED users' data - that shows their improved hitting at a time when power hitters' HRs drop off - is so DRAMATICALLY different than the norm for all of the best hitters. What's also remarkable is that you've been spouting your defense of Bonds on this board for years now. You'd think if your arguments were credible, that one person would have been swayed. Just ONE!! But it hasn't happened. Your position is an anomaly, nothing more. If Bonds has spent his whole career playing for the Blue Jays or Twins, you wouldn't have carried this argument on at all.
  17. That's an excellent analysis! Hard to argue with that data, too.
  18. I think most reasonable people believe that strength is a significant contributing factor in the distance a hit ball will travel. Thus it is a factor in the ability to hit HRs. No way around it. If you have a 98 pound weakling that can barely lift a bat, there's no way he's going to swing hard enough to put a ball over the fence. Someone with substantial muscles like Barry Bonds can easily swing hard enough to put the ball into McCovey Cove. Obviously, coordination, vision, timing, and other things are factors too, but clearly strength is a contributor. And steroids increase strength, as you admit. C'mon, be real here.
  19. Glad to hear you are supporting the court finally. So if or when Bonds is found guilty, you will finally admit to what Bonds has already admitted, that he took drugs that enhanced his performance, rendering his records worthless and undefinable. And regardless whether the court finds him guilty, I stand by my statement that he will be forever guilty in the court of public opinion. I have always believed the court system needs to handle this, not the media or photoshop bullshit. However, I think the prosecution has no case and is, at this point, desperately trying to justify the colossal waste of taxpayer money by getting him on something...anything. The so-called "court of public opinion" is morally corrupt and ethically bankrupt, Aggie. That same "court" was the source of lynchings, too. You think about that. This must be a personal gripe for you, Aggie. I mean, every response you make has to be some angry commentary about what you think I believe. Yet, with a little research, you will note that I never said Bonds didn't take steroids. All I have ever said is there is no proof that he did. I have already acknowledged that he took "the clear". And, if you will further note, I have said [numerous times] that I couldn't care less if he did use steroids. Why? Because steroids do not make a player hit HRs. They just make them bigger. Tell me, if he is found not guilty, will you finally acknowledge there was no proof he ever took steroids or is this just a one sided thing with you? Hm. You completely avoided the point of my comment. Being a supporter - an advocate even - of the court, you have to accept their conclusion if Bonds is found guilty. And your powers of perception are completely off, as usual. There is no anger in any of my comments. Maybe some paranoia or persecution complex on your part, I'd guess. If he is not found guilty, that simply means the jury didn't think there was enough evidence presented to convict. Greg Anderson sitting in jail throughout the trial is convincing enough to most thinking-people to be a clear sign there is guilt on Bonds' part. Period. End of story. Steroids do in fact increase strength. Just take a look at the link I provided previously, from a credible source. You skipped right over that before. Increased strength CLEARLY helps power hitters hit the ball further, creating the potential for additional home runs. No way to deny that, for reasonable people.

  21. I guess your mind is greater than the vast majority of the population then. Congratulations.
  22. I agree that Anderson is getting paid a fine sum for his non-cooperation. But I think regardless of the outcome of the court case, in the court of public opinion Bonds is toast, forevermore.
