  1. Devil's Bridge arch in Sedona, AZ, 7 Nov 2024 (I'm on the left)
  2. I wouldn't even consider a bagel that wasn't boiled before baking. That's sacrilege! The Einstein Bagels chain doesn't boil, and we think theirs taste awful. But they're sort of the McDonald's of bagels anyway. Mom & pop stores are where they're best. I didn't get a photos of the bagel counter, but this is from Yelp:
  3. Kettleman's Bagel Shop, Bridgewater NJ 26 Oct 2024 ...have been craving a "real" bagel since moving from NJ a year and a half ago. This one fit the bill.
  4. Fanny's a cool band, nice to see them here. I've got the Rhino Handmade box "First Time in a Long Time" which goes for pretty good money these days. My copy is signed by all four of the primary members - June Millington, Jean Millington, Alice de Buhr, and Nickey Barclay. Kind of wild since they don't all get along, particularly Nickey (who had previously toured with Joe Cocker on the Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour).
  5. Man, I'd be up the creek if I forgot my key for that gate.
  6. Icehouse - Sidewalk I sort of fell out of love with this band after this release. They had a couple of big pop hits later, but no longer sounded like Icehouse to me. Trivia - Guy Pratt plays bass on this album. Pratt has been Pink Floyd's bassist post-Roger Waters, and plays and tours with both David Gilmour and Nick Mason separately. And he married Rick Wright's daughter lol.
  7. Aurora Borealis, Arizona 10/10/24 First time I've ever seen the Northern Lights in person, and never expected that would happen this far south.
  8. Radiohead - Hail to the Thief ...I love the 2 cd compilations of Radiohead's EMI albuns, despite the band not sanctioning them. They do a great job of compiling all of the bsides and associated tracks for each album.
  9. Couldn't be worse than the Rangers/DBags last year, could it? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/02/business/media/world-series-ratings.html#:~:text=The five games averaged 9.1,of 9.8 million in 2020. Whoever it is, I'll just hope for competitive baseball.
  10. Hey we went to multiple Phillies games every season while living there. After moving out to the desert last year, we've had one series vs the DBacks each regular season, and attended 3 of the 4 games each time. This year we got to take our 10 month old grandson to his first Phillies game as well. Plus last year the Phillies played (and were upset by) the DBacks in the postseason, and we went to multiple games for that as well. I'm just hopeful we can do the same this season if it works out. We take what we can get! Strategic rooting is important!
  11. Rooting for the Mets to win the second one here, though I don't really have an interest in the Mets specifically. But if they win the DBacks are in. I also don't have an interest in the DBacks, despite living in AZ. But if they get in, I'll have a chance to see the Phillies here locally. At least there's a chance in that case. That's what I'm hoping for.
  12. A comp I picked up while living in Germany back in 2003.
  13. Somehow I missed this recording when it was released, thank you for sharing. I may have to seek out the 7" single for this (it's not on any of his albums).
  14. It's a great album, in a career of great albums. Easily one of my favorite rock bands ever. I saw them about a week ago here in Phoenix (which is about 40% Hispanic), and people were dancing in the aisles for most of the show.
  15. I caught them here in Phoenix last night, at the Musical Instrument Museum, fantastic show! I came away impressed with both Shaw and Waits. Kris Davis was solid, but didn't really stand out, performance wise, IMO. And Dave was fantastic. edit - for those that haven't been to the MIM, it's an amazing museum, easily Smithsonian caliber. They have the oldest guitar in existence (dating from 1590), and a Chinese drum that's more than 6,000 years old. Plus Eric Dolphy's sax, Thelonious Monk's piano, Buddy Rich's drum set, Gerry Mulligan's baritone sax, and Lionel Hampton's vibraharp. Too many other things to mention.
  16. Los Lobos - How Will the Wolf Survive?
  17. Female mule deer running across the road in front of me. Her sister ran first so I came to a stop and just watched this one.
  18. I learned this interesting (to me) trivia from Geddy Lee's autobiography, My Effin' Life. Apparently one of his best friends growing up was Oscar Peterson's son Oscar Jr. They were so close that Oscar Jr was his best man when Geddy got married in 1976.
