  1. The Pineapple Thief is a fine band! Last time I saw them (2022 in Philly) I did the meet and greet. Bruce Soord is a fascinating musician. And got to meet Gavin Harrison, who to my ears is one of the best rock drummers out there today. I don't know how Harrison managed to juggle three significant bands at the same time - Pineapple Thief, King Crimson, and Porcupine Tree. Seems two of them are now in hiatus though.
  2. I think there are two sorts of members there - (1) audiophiles and (2) music fans in general (obviously with an overlap between them). I'm no audiophile, but I do love music, so I'm in group 2. For me I like hearing discussion about new releases across the spectrum of music, discovering old bands/artists that I didn't know as well when I was younger, and hearing differences of opinions about artists I like. It's usually fairly healthy discussion, and because it's a music in general board, it attracts more members than a jazz-centric board like this. I don't think it's going to change there any time soon, despite bulletin boards being a relic from an earlier digital age.
  3. (Tom Petty - Long After Dark (some very good stuff on the new 2 disc edition)
  4. Travis/Fripp - Live at Coventry Cathedral
  5. We have a neighbor that's done this exact same thing the past 2 years, though with colored lights inside the skull and chest. Goes up mid October, comes down mid January.
  6. I figured you might appreciate that combination. On to some live Neil Young today.
  7. Saw a bobcat wandering around my house this morning but didn't have my cell phone handy (ha - "handy" is what Germans call cell phones) to capture a pic. So here's one I took near my garage a few months back. I don't remember if I posted this before or not.
  8. Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
  9. Had to share a hiking path with this javelina yesterday. He won, so we turned around.
  10. Devil's Bridge arch in Sedona, AZ, 7 Nov 2024 (I'm on the left)
  11. I wouldn't even consider a bagel that wasn't boiled before baking. That's sacrilege! The Einstein Bagels chain doesn't boil, and we think theirs taste awful. But they're sort of the McDonald's of bagels anyway. Mom & pop stores are where they're best. I didn't get a photos of the bagel counter, but this is from Yelp:
  12. Kettleman's Bagel Shop, Bridgewater NJ 26 Oct 2024 ...have been craving a "real" bagel since moving from NJ a year and a half ago. This one fit the bill.
  13. Fanny's a cool band, nice to see them here. I've got the Rhino Handmade box "First Time in a Long Time" which goes for pretty good money these days. My copy is signed by all four of the primary members - June Millington, Jean Millington, Alice de Buhr, and Nickey Barclay. Kind of wild since they don't all get along, particularly Nickey (who had previously toured with Joe Cocker on the Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour).
  14. Man, I'd be up the creek if I forgot my key for that gate.
  15. Icehouse - Sidewalk I sort of fell out of love with this band after this release. They had a couple of big pop hits later, but no longer sounded like Icehouse to me. Trivia - Guy Pratt plays bass on this album. Pratt has been Pink Floyd's bassist post-Roger Waters, and plays and tours with both David Gilmour and Nick Mason separately. And he married Rick Wright's daughter lol.
  16. Aurora Borealis, Arizona 10/10/24 First time I've ever seen the Northern Lights in person, and never expected that would happen this far south.
  17. Radiohead - Hail to the Thief ...I love the 2 cd compilations of Radiohead's EMI albuns, despite the band not sanctioning them. They do a great job of compiling all of the bsides and associated tracks for each album.
  18. Couldn't be worse than the Rangers/DBags last year, could it? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/02/business/media/world-series-ratings.html#:~:text=The five games averaged 9.1,of 9.8 million in 2020. Whoever it is, I'll just hope for competitive baseball.
