And who would have thought that Albert Ayler would still have the same effect on people nearly 40 years later. The first few notes I heard (mine were from Spirits Rejoice) sent a shiver up my spine!

I know a further thunmbs up from me is not needed but if you like Ayler you will love this CD (espsecially if you enjoy Vibrations).
  6. A good excuse to play these two today.
  7. Chico Hamilton South Pacific In HIFI (1958)
  8. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=571&hl= a great DVD
  9. January 10 1961 Curtis Amy & Frank Butler - Groovin' Blue (Pacific Jazz)
  10. Anthony Coles plays some mean piano too. From what I can gather AEC had a fair crack of the whip at playing various instruments.
  11. Jan 4 1956 Chico Hamilton Quintet in Hi Fi (Pacific Jazz)
  12. It took a little while but the set grew on me. Disc one includes my favourite version of 'My funny valentine' which sounds almost gothic to me.

Gentlemen, Cheers for opening my ears to some magnificent music in 2004. Have a great 2005 (I just wish i had the money keep up with you )
  14. Its 2005 here now! No matter how your 2004 was I hope your 2005 is better. (I wish Albert did a version of Auld Lang Sign)
  15. 'Call it anything' is made up of Directions Bitches Brew Its about time Spanish Key The theme.
  16. You gentlemen are (of course) correct. A fantastic DVD. Some very interesting interviews ( Airto looks just as passionate now about the music as he did when he was in the band). The actual IOW performance is essential for anyone who is a fan of Miles' electric period.
  17. Happy birthday Tony. It must be a nightmare having to wait almost 12 months before you get more gifts!
  18. put together all the xmas cash & vouchers I was given & bought to complete the collection.
  19. From the Milies losin site an interesting one - December 28, 1967 (1 item; TT = 7:04) Miles Davis Quintet plus Joe Beck Miles Davis (tpt, chimes, tubular bells); Wayne Shorter (ts); Herbie Hancock (el-p, clavinet); Joe Beck (g); Ron Carter (b); Tony Williams (d) Water on the Pond (M. Davis) (take 9/10) 7:04 Splice at 2:14 There is a barely audible second drum part in the right channel throughout (a stick on the rim of a snare drum). The identity of the drummer is a mystery. As on "Circle in the Round" from earlier in December, Beck does not solo but simply doubles Carter's bass line.
