I get your point, but isn't Turner field pretty beat down? That's what I have heard. He very clearly pointed out how bogus that is in post #875...but of course, you're team is going to benefit from one of these stadium bamboozles with Santa Clara taxpayers paying for it. The Mayor of Atlanta announced they're tearing down Turner Field once the Braves leave. `10 more years of bonds payments for something that won't exist. Some money quotes....with the translation coming down to too many of the wrong type of people around Turner Field. "The Braves had made it clear for years they were not satisfied with Turner Field, located just south of downtown near some of the city's poorest neighborhoods." "Also, Census data shows the team is moving to a much more prosperous area, with a median household income of about $61,000 and a poverty level of 8.6 percent, compared to $23,000 and nearly 40 percent for the neighborhood surrounding Turner Field." "Reed said the city couldn't match a $450 million offer from one of Atlanta's sprawling northern suburbs, though it wasn't immediately clear how the county of some 700,000 people plans to raise the money or whether it will require a vote of the taxpayers." "Despite the lack of any rapid-transit in Cobb County and the stadium site being located next to one of the city's most congested interchanges _ a swath of interstates that are as wide as seven lanes _ the Braves insisted the new stadium could actually provide easier access because of a planned "circulator" bus system." "At the end of the day, there was simply no way the team was going to stay in downtown Atlanta without city taxpayers spending hundreds of millions of dollars," Reed said in the statement. P.S. Cobb County is the place that gave the U.S. Newt Gingrich and all that came with him....but especially raising taxes. Just how does a county of only 700,000 pay for a stadium that will cost close to $3 billion without raising taxes, or using taxes that were meant for something else?

Every single player offered an qualifying offer turned it down. 2nd year in a row it's happened in the 2-years the current system has been in place. Sigh of relief from the Evil Empire and Yankees. They get the picks and can sign whichever of them they want.... It also makes @ least the first round in the next draft closer to being set. The rest depends on if a team signs one of the 13-players, and where they pick in the first round. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/order.jsp

Ed Reed cut by Houston, but he @ least pocketed $5 million to play in 5 games. Also, apparently Mike Tirico has Incognito on the mind in a game he wasn't even playing in.

If Detroit of all cities can find the money for a new arena for the Red Wings....I posted about how these things always cost more and never come close to what taxpayers are told by the teams and local politicians that they will return monetarily to the city. You can find multiple links I provided in the Detroit Arena discussion. P.S. Something else to consider. Atlanta is still going to have to pay the bonds another 13-years for Turner field and have to find way to replace the revenue, or tear it down will still paying those 13-years....and they're is the new stadium for the Falcons which will probably end up costing taxpayers way north of $3 billion over 30-years.....and none of these teams stay in these places the full 30-years the city is on the hook for. P.P.S. Another thing is more of the teams are having these things built in cities/states outside of the city they're associated with. Take a look @ the Niners new stadium....it's going to be the farthest built stadium from it's "home" city....but they're keeping the San Francisco. Santa Clara's (like New Jerseys) taxpayers are paying and getting screwed, but it's still going to be San Francisco.

Will Myers becomes the 3rd Tampa Bay player in 6-years to win ROY in the A.L. Can anyone imagine TB if they kept their players. Second was Jose Iglesias who the Evil Empire traded to Detroit as part of the Jake Peavy trade. He would have been the first player traded @ that point to win the ROY. Peavy was 4-1 (4 wins they didn't really need) out of 10 games in the regular season and was 0-1 in 3 postseason games. ERA 4.04 in the regular season and 4.5 in the post. Iglesias (he was only with Detroit for 46 regular season games and he came 2nd in ROY), Xander Bogaerts (who looks like the front-runner for ROY next year), and Dustin Pedroia....and their ages. That's an infield for how many years to come and two of them @ what cost? Drew declined the $14.1. They could have sat on Iglesias another year, but really glad that trade happened! Jose Fernandez beats Yasiel Puig for the NL ROY. I think Puig should have won (but too much anti-Puig reporting made it obvious)....Fernandez had an absurd ERA for a rookie....considering it's the Marlins....how long before he's traded, or signed by another team? Either one would have been the first person to be born in Cuba to win the ROY.

Steve: 1. It's not the open mind, but the open pocketbook aspect of that recommendation. 2. Now, that @ least I can support if you're going to throw someone into the very deep end.

That time of year. Two huge games right out of the gate tomorrow. Kentucky vs Meechigan St. Duke vs Kansas Will watch the first and record the second. So, please no spoilers! I don't know how good Wiggins really is....considering he really hasn't played against much....but it will also include several other one and done....especially Julius Randle and Jabari Parker as the other possible #1 picks in the next draft. Right now Randle and Parker look better (but I am not impartial. The first is from Texas and the later Chicago.)) and neither of the 3 have played anyone that challenge them. Everyone picking Kentucky to run the table, but it's the most high ranked freshman in one class and only one ball. P.S. The Alma Mater will be early enough to watch....but yet again....they're not anywhere close to the top 25. @ least there is the football team!

Beside that and so many other things....he's wearing the same clothes he was buried in. Blacklist....just how long before she figures out her relationship to him? Agree about Boardwalk Empire. Helps they got rid of some of the least interesting characters....meaning much more Michael K. Williams!....never watch something like BE with Pops who points everything historically wrong about all the real characters. haha There are still a few around boring characters from the first season....and the major negative is less Jack Huston this year. P.S. Funny how many Omar Little quotes would work in BE.

You noticed that, too. Given the one way conversation he's having with himself on the MLB thread he hates the Giants/Goodie there, as well. Looks like Jerry Jones is experiencing some remorse over firing Rob Ryan...especially after yesterday's drubbing vs the Saints: http://nesn.com/2013/11/jerry-jones-admits-firing-rob-ryan-wasnt-best-idea-after-ryan-saints-destroy-cowboys-monte-kiffin/ Niners, OTOH, should have gone for the TD on that 4th and one. I have no idea why they, oh, wait...Roman is still their OC, huh. Never mind. Same OC that got them to the Super Bowl is the problem and not the half-year wonder?....and you really think Harbaugh (who I really like....and along Greg Roman, Vic Fangio (these 3 resurrected both Stanford and the Niners.) and Trent Baalke are the only reason the Niners are no longer doormats in the NFC Worst) doesn't have a say? In fact, on a 4 and 1 it's the HC that makes the call to go for it or not. Not the OC. Does Harbaugh really come across as anyone that would keep anyone that keeps the team from winning...let alone something as important as OC? Hell, Aldon Smith even got into a few plays yesterday and he should have been cut, or @ least suspended for the rest of the season. And my comments about the Giants were in response to your comments that the Yankees are buying WS, but the Giants didn't buy both theirs and continued to try no matter how many facts were used about their payroll....that and your classless attack of Mike Schwartz while forgetting your long history of calling Ortiz a juicer and about the Red Sox. It's one way (at least beside your insults) because you have no defense for it. P.S. When is the last month, or year you actually posted a single thing about Jazz, or non-cock rock music?

It gets idiotic when it gets to Malcolm X and MLK. Yeah, William Rhoden of the NY Times (also African-American) commented in a similar vein, but much more reasonably: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/10/sports/football/civility-need-not-be-excluded-from-the-culture-of-the-nfl.html?ref=williamcrhoden&_r=0 ...At least one of Martin’s black teammates went to ridiculous lengths, referring to Incognito as an honorary brother. Trust me, if the roles were reversed and Incognito were black and Martin white, the narrative would be different... Jason Reid as well. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/miami-dolphins-blacks-support-for-richie-incognito-in-nfl-bullying-affair-is-troubling/2013/11/08/de154eda-48ba-11e3-bf0c-cebf37c6f484_story.html?Post+generic=%3Ftid%3Dsm_twitter_washingtonpost

Only way I see one or both going is if Kobe retires, or signs somewhere else.

Braves are building a new $700+ million stadium outside of Atlanta in Cobb county. With interest you have to figure the real cost of the bonds.....will be around $2 billion+. Turner field was built in 1996. P.S. Twins doing what they should have a few years ago and moving Maur permanently to 1st.

The Jets are my team and I comment about them and the Rex Ryan circus and just when I think the team can finally end the circus, of course it helps that he has a GM that put him on a leash of sorts and they got rid of Brian Schottenheimer who is off ruining another team's offense....just like I comment about all the teams. Speaking of NJ teams. Don't consider either one to really be NY teams when they're not even in the state for their games. The Giants were 0-6, but now are 1.5 out of first after winning 3 in a row. The fascinating thing is it's not the typical Eli wakes stops playing like crap like he does most of the season and starts playing like someone being paid what he does. He's still been playing like crap the last three wins. Really can't a recall a season with so many terrible teams in position to make the playoffs. P.S. Mark Duper is the latest to be diagnosed with signs of CTE. P.P.S. If they were really serious in the NFL and College....they would get rid of Thursday and Friday night games....and any team that plays Monday should get a bye the next week.

I don't think they're ever going to recover from the Sam Zell era. P.S. Picketts own about 25% but it was more about Tribune Broadcasting....and they just pulled plug on the Cubs option. I know it's the best thing to do financially for 2019+, but still funny. -
The Cupcake Game turned into a battle of two possibly good defenses (really hard to tell considering the cupcakes offensively they have played and beat) and which non-wonder could come out of it looking less non-wonder than the other. P.S. It was obvious Kaepernick was winning this particular battle....but FTW! in the worst of the two non-wonders...but he had to make sure with that last interception. I really wouldn't be surprised if the Niners draft a QB in the next draft. It's also contract extension time for him. @ least the Niners didn't give him it after last year's half-wonder. His cap hit would be $1.6 if they got rid of him.
