I know for sure @ least in my lifetime I haven't seen an ending like that. It was the correct call, but still.....Crazy! Has there ever been an obstruction call to end a game in World Series, or any playoff game? I know there was an obstruction in the 2006 (which also involved the Cardinals), but that didn't end the game. Edited in. The wiki page on obstruction has already been changed to add in what just happened in the game.

GA man returns to burning house to retrieve beer
Blue Train replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
@ least for an Alcoholic....he had enough perspective to make sure that everyone was out of the house first. The real amazing thing is that it was for Bud Light. http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/Walter-Serpit-Self-proclaimed-alcoholic-risks-his-life-saving-cans-of-beer-from-house-fire -

Way before my time. How many can go from to another team's biggest rival and still be loved and respected by both team's fans? How many things which are now standard did he bring to the game as a coach? Just read he not only was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers he was called up and was in the dugout @ the Bobby Thompson HR game. Be well....

Just heard Doc Rivers is going to have the Lakers' Championship banners and retired player numbers covered when the Clippers play in Staples. What's he covering them with?.....Clippers' players who haven't won a single thing. If he wasn't the HC of the Celtics would he have even thought of doing that to the Lakers? P.S. Of course, without the original Big 3....would he even have lasted in Boston...never mind become HC of the Clippers....once he knew it was time to jump ship?

Lester's glove from game 1. Rosin really shouldn't look that color. Even he can't explain why it's that color. Of course, on a cold night....the last thing you would use is Vaseline, or anything similar....you would use something similar to pine tar. Can't find a picture of something called firm grip. The whole thing isn't Kosher.

Nationals hired Matt Williams to be manager. His only experience is in the AZ Fall League. Seems like they're flushing they're young talent the next few years for him to learn on the job. He's also the first admitted PED user to become a manager.

Now it's back to St. Louis. Ortiz is either going to have to play first. He's played 6 games @ 1st this year. Also means Napoli sits 2-3 of the games.

Self-hating is the usual response. P.S. If anyone doesn't know there actually is a case (Blackhorse v. Pro Football, Inc.) before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board for U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to cancel the trademark. The ruling will probably happen in 2014. http://www.turnto23.com/news/us-world/nfl-redskins-name-registration-faces-legal-challenges-100813 -

Really? You think it's correct to prosecute a satirical publication for racism? Yes. Here the question of interpretation lies in the offence given. In this article, an individual is slurred with racial epithets. That offends Jews, not just him. Otherwise the excuse for racism becomes 'oh I was only joking'. In any case, what happens in a joke? This joke focalises racial aggression. There is no point in dignifying it by analysing its layers. In my book this is actually classic anti-semitism. The message to Jews is: look, you have to put up with this language, one of your kind has stepped out of line - watch out, there's plenty more where this came from. That's completely absurd. This joke does the opposite of focalize racial aggression and the only way to figure that out is to understand the context -that is, to analyze its layers. The whole point of this joke is to lampoon the patronizing attitude of most Americans (and particularly Dan Snyder) who keep saying that "Redskins" is not racially offensive even though this is the easiest and cheapest opinion for those people (since they are not themselves Indians) to have. It does this by setting up an analogous example that's OBVIOUSLY AND INTENTIONALLY racially offensive to point out that these same people would never stand for it if their ethnicities were caricatured like this. It has nothing to do with making Jews "put up with this language" and everything to do with illustrating the ways in which powerful people make others put up with the same kind of language every day. Well put. Seconded!....especially when you take into account Synder's previous crying wolf over antisemitism when there wasn't any. I would comment on David Ayers' comments, but this is now getting to the point of a subject that belongs in a forum which doesn't exist on here anymore. -
It has been my experience that the most obnoxious fans on the planet are New York Yankees fans. Bar none. the Dodgers fans would be a very close second. Both sets of fans will come into your ballpark and act like they own it. As to the cardinals hate, my understanding is these guys are all farm hands or home grown. So, I don't see what the problem could be. I guess it's different depending on where you go in the East/Midwest. Remind me again which team had recently had a fan kill another team's fan recently....also which had a fan throw a banana @ Adam Jones (who is African-American) just a couple months ago....? Whose team had to apologize for their fans? And which teams fans are regularly also ranked as one of the worst?...even by other fans of the team? One ranking them second behind Philly fans. Oh yeah, whose team's fans have riots after WS wins? Once again, glass houses. P.S. "All farm hands or home grown"?....you can't make that up.

It's the Residents being the Residents. There was even a video for it. If the video isn't clear enough of much of a joke this was meant to be about boxsets....there is the official page. Winner's name....Dexter Ulysses "Tripmonster" McGillicutty and he lives in Indiana. Only the Residents could make that up. http://www.residents.com/home/page15/

Speaking of the Dodgers. They signed Alexander Guerrero for $28 million over 4-years. That means Mark Ellis option probably won't be picked up and Cano's options are really limited. P.S. Really hard to tell with international players....especially from Cuba....but I think the Dodgers win on the Cuban defector signings. Abreu can't field, or run. Yes, it's the AL and he can play DH....but a hitter with an alleged slow bat....who has weight issues. It's also the White Sox...who have a bunch of holes.
-
Yeah, the price for the Dodgers changed things....though; I still don't think they're worth that much....especially with the parking lot guy/con artist from Boston still controlling a good deal of the land around the stadium....and no regional channel. Now, once the regional channel goes into effect....

Apple release OS X Mavericks as free download
Blue Train replied to erwbol's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Really haven't had the time to check the changes. Anyone interested. The most in-depth review you will find. http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/10/os-x-10-9/ -
It would be a long enough off-season if the Evil Empire wins, but if they win this easily....

You obviously missed hearing about this. I wouldn't hold my breath....and why would he leave team he has major chance of winning a WS to the Giants? He's not getting any younger. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/brian-wilson-walks-across-field-confront-giants-ceo-090821512--mlb.html

Apparently the Dodgers are interested in David Price. He's two years away from free agency. Even with arbitration he shouldn't come near the idiotic amount Lincecum received. Unless they just give him a long term deal. A broken-down Linecum (that no other team even made an offer to him) who should not be a starter anymore, or David Price for a lot less money? When polled current players picked David Price 2nd to Clayton Kershaw as active pitchers they would want to pitch one game. Though, if someone like Linencum is getting $17.5 per year.....what do they give Price? Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and Price would be a pretty daunting 1-3. P.S. Rumors are the Rangers and Yankees are also interested in Price. Checking the farm systems rankings.....the order of systems is Rangers, Yankees, and Dodgers for those rumored. P.P.S. Everyone talks about Linecum losing velocity being the problem. Yes, he's lost 3-5 mph....but his biggest problem is he can't find the strike zone to save his life. He has only had a total of 3 games since the start of in all of 2011 and 2012 that he's had more than 50% of his pitches in the strike zone. His highest being 52.5%. Still trying to hunt down for 2013. Considering his record....not expecting it will be any different for 2013.

I think they're making a point; especially about him. There was also the Washington City lawsuit which he ended up dropping, Hilarious part is he filed the lawsuit in NYC and not DC. http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/citydesk/2011/02/02/snyder-sues/ http://deadspin.com/5750980/dan-snyder-cries-anti+semitism-in-letter-that-manages-to-be-racist -
Giants continue with the bad contracts. Once again bidding against themselves. Linecum - 2 years for $35 million (and a no trade clause!) for someone that has't had a winning record in 3 seasons. Any other team even willing to give him more than $10 to 15 for two years? That's following the last two years he was paid $40.5 million to stink up the joint. Anyone know if a team has given so much previously to any pitcher with this bad of a record over three years...especially the last two years? Two years isn't a fluke. Giants management really doing their best to go back to normal for the Giants. 70% sure Mattingly is gone. He threw a high inside pitch @ his last news conference with the GM there. Dodgers fired the bench coach in response.
