  1. Lee Morgan - The Shitewiper
  2. Errol Garner At The Piano french CBS, unglued cover
  3. probably it's a bound volume of "Die Gartenlaube" (the garden pavillion), a family magazine, published since 1853 in Leipzig. There happens to be an 1886 volume on German Ebay at the moment so you can compare: click
  4. Why? When copying the fewer links in the chain, the better. I asked Count Von Count and it's the exact same number of links seems to me the INport is just an external soundcard. Nothing more, nothing less.
  5. yes, but this is another millenium
  6. I have heard the same story, it's even in the Wikipedia entry for Dolphy. The stereotype was rather about the profession than about race. Everyone knows that jazz musicians are drunken drug addicts.
  7. you are comparing apples and oranges. You need to compare the lossless files of your vinyl transfers with mp3s made from those same files. And not use 128kbps, but LAME alt-preset-standard or higher.
  8. JJ Vol 3: http://www.popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?itemnr=4040340339
  9. that's Bella, not Stella of course!
  10. that Davis Cup TOCJ 6XXX doesn't sound bad, it's an aural nightmare! Hank Mobley - Workout sounds great. Just the right dose to bring the detail out but keep the sound balanced. as for all those threads about threads... my memory can't help you out; as I recall there were lots of comments scattered across plenty of threads.
  11. because the word Appell is used exactly that way in german language as well. I guess its a heritage from Napoleon and french occupation back than. There are some area's in the "Rheinland" that still uses geman pronounced french wordings. actually, it IS the German word as the french is spelled with only one L at the end. In Dutch it means apple, unless you put an accent-grave on the e, then it's roll call or appeal. an apfel a day keeps the doctor away almost. Dutch = Crazy
  12. er hätte die Kleine mit 8 Monaten (oder so) auf den Topf setzen sollen, nicht erst nach 2 Jahren. Das ist, was mich zu Weissbier treibt. Prost!

  16. Reportaz - S/N (Tonpress, 1987) hah! good stuff!
  17. - Ruth Price Sings with The Johnny Smith Quartet (Roost) - Beverly Kenney Sings for Johnny Smith (Roost) - Jeri Southern Meets Johnny Smith (Roulette) - Beverly Kenney Sings for Playboys (Decca), with a piano/bass duo - Jane Fielding w/ Lou Levy and Red Mitchell - Jazz Trio (Jazz West) - Peggy Lee/George Shearing - Beauty and the Beat (Capitol/BN) - George Shearing with Dakota Staton - In the Night (Capitol/BN) - George Shearing with Nancy Wilson - The Swingin's Mutual (Capitol/BN) - Nancy Wilson - Something Wonderful (Capitol/BN) - Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley (Capitol/BN) - Nancy Wilson - Today, Tomorrow, Forever (Capitol/BN) - Peggy Lee - Trav'lin' Light (Capitol/BN), lifted from the Lee/Christy Mosaic and more...
  18. Was he that, err, spontaneous? stiff as a rake.
  19. Long live David H and Werner "Bimbo" Gasch!
  20. if it won't talk, see if it moans
  21. Goldwave will show you the wave and if you see a brick wall consisting of much more sound than silence, it is likely there has been compression. To assess whether a source is lossy, you'd need a programme that can show you a frequency analysis. MP3s are typically cut off at 16 KHz.
  22. Urangu Tango! (click)
  23. that'd be Teel-uh-mahns, short "ee", short 'mute' "uh" and short "ah" which would make Teel-uh eyyyy, Toots is from Flemish Brussels, he speaks Flemish/Dutch, hence his name is pronounced Flemish/Dutch. Having lived in the US for such a long time, he himself has adapted and when talking english calls himself "Teelmahns", if only just because Charlie Parker did...
