  1. actually, Haeschen is German for "Little Bunny".
  2. what's the problem? This stuff is just formulaic enough to make the cut and quirky enough to remain something for the kids to be proud of knowing. Sounds like a BN recipe to me. "feghing hippy", the others will yell after them kids.
  3. Kenny Drew - Undercurrent not much Hank Jones here, but plenty Hank Mobley
  4. depends on how you define funky. With chewy's penchant for offthewall definitions, I'd say The Blue is still a contender as it is at least wacky enough without being disorganised.
  5. and I wait ANOTHER year before my turn comes up? No way! If Bint takes March and MGb takes April, I can take May.
  6. if you post a list of those 40 000 Shorty albums I'll let you in on the ins and outs of Private Hell. fegh that and just get the feghing thing. You keep acting like your life depends on 7.99$.
  7. yo! whassup then on your side of the Nile? Probably still searching for its source... heh! welcome Dr Stanley, I presume??
  8. yo! whassup then on your side of the Nile?

    BFT #43 CD-1

    blasphemy!
  11. Earl Hines - Master of Jazz Vol. 2 (Storyville)
  12. do you have your set up connected to tv-cable/antenna? If so, your coax is likely "leaking", there are cheap and simple gadgets that filter out unwanted frequencies from the antenna signal. Can't provide you with the english term for these though.
  13. why not CDrs with some Artwerk.
  14. And while I'm posting: the bestest vibes solo ever recorded was played by Jerzy Milian with Ptaszyn Wroblewski on a tune titled "Nana Imboro". Lucky couw found it on a (beaten up) 45 and with some diligence made a more or less clean transfer. The 45 is available as a bonus on the CD "Stan Getz - Jazz Jamboree 1960", sound on this CD isn't to write home about either, so you better click HERE (or here) to listen to the vinyl rip.
  15. With respect to Kurylewicz playing piano, he has a beautiful style with plenty classical runs and lots of lingering on the centre of the keyboard. Not unlike Tristano or Eddie Costa; or Trzaskowski or Körrössy for that matter.
  16. The mommy may like this one: it may be a bitch to find, but we'll see what can be done...
  17. and that assessment -- for once -- applies like the proverbial fist on the eye. I'd just leave off the "in Europe" at the end as the guy is an amazing player. The album is not a mere collection of tunes but has a fantastic flow with some weirdish interludes that do make lots of sense. I'd compare it to Körrössy's MPS album in that respect. It's on Muza/Polskie Nagrania, not on Polonia BTW
  18. yes, good stuff. It's a pity Andzrej doesn't play piano on this.

first google hit leads you to Lateef's homepage: "Autophysiopsychic Music: Music which comes from one's physical, mental and spiritual self." Lateef is serious about this. His music is not jazz, but Autophysiopsychic Music. He obviously has been thinking about this a lot and I have no doubt he has his reasons for not calling his music jazz. With instant recognition of his music being so widespread, he may have a point, I'd say.
  22. so is there any difference in these German pressings and the MCA pressings (also 1987) as distributed in Euroland by BMG? And what's with the GRP pressings of the early 90s? New masters?

    Barney Wilen

just checked the linernotes as I was sure I read this somewhere and there it says: "La musique proposée dans ce CD (et publiée avec l'assentiment de Patrick Wilen) ...", so not involved but in agreement then. What a pity this has changed!
