  1. He did so many great dance tracks on Philly international after he left the band, also did some nice things on Electra as well. Have a nice very early un-released track by him, recorded in about 68/69 with Charles Mintz on backing vocals. Real uptempo 60's Philly/Arctic type sound

  3. P.S. I have been a long time contributor to several of the soul forums and would like to do the same on here. Sadly my welcome here is very simular to that, that I have seen on said forums. Who is this guy ?, Are we gonna let in our exclusive club ?, etc.
  4. Understand what you are saying. But as I said I'm new to the site and have started this thread as I am interested in the roots and influences of Soul Music. Jazz plays a major part in that and many well know jazz musicians formed the musical engine room at many of the major studios, ie The Funk Brothers, different people working at Stax and the many that passed through Philadelphia International.

Robert started out working in the 60's with ledgendary soul group The Precisions and played on all their great numbers as well as working at Sidra records with Barbara Mercer. Today he is a indemand musician in the city. This is a stunning set from 85 very Montgomery/Benson-esq, so very hard to find, only 500 were pressed. This is a cool mint sealed copy
  6. Hi Guys I'm a new member, I have a good friend Detroit Musician,Producer & Writer, McKinley Jackson. While chatting recently he expresed how he felt that Detroit soul music had been greatly underpinned by the vibrant jazz scene there. That Lables like Motown owed much to the like of Marcus Belgrave and others in there musical developement. Interested in your views. Dave

These guys were the vanguard of exciting new jazz sound coming from Detroit in the 60's and 70's, they called themselves The Tribe, founded by Wendell Harrison and his wife Pat. music
