I'm glad to see this topic as vocal jazz is something I've had a hard time with for a long time. I listen to Bob Parlocha on the way home from work at night and he always has a few vocals on during an hour, and try as I might, I just can't seem to find the desire to listen for longer than 20 seconds. And I have tried. Jazz is something that I have liked for a long time, but until the last few years it wasn't the main focus of my listening time. So, I always thought that I would "grow" into a new appreciation for vocals. It just hasn't happened. As a side note, when I listen to classical music, I dislike opera, and the more gospel side of blues bothers me too. Must be some connection there somewhere.

Reminds me of the time I driving back from Pineknob at about 2:00 A.M. There, right along I-94 just before Jackson, someone had change the marquee on a motel to Free Cunt on one side and the other side was Truckers get your box lunches filled here. I wondered how long that stayed up, who put it there, and how much controversy that caused. This was about 25 years ago and I still chuckle whenever I drive by. -
Man! I just checked Bells website and they don't even have the details of this up yet! Glad I saw it here first, now I can plan ahead. Hmm, I just telling a friend Sunday that Bells didn't have its act together because they hadn't had the guys there in such a long time. I guess I'll have to take back the other things I said that I won't rtepeat here.

Hey! I like the Zappa tune as well! Of course it sounds even better when I hear you guys play it live. I finally recieved my copies on Friday, just in time for my trip up north. So I have listened to it quite a few times over the last few days and I can finally add my comments. It's great! Thanks guys for another steller CD!

I'm so bummed. As of 2:00 PM, still no music in my mailbox. I just have to stop reading this thread.

Here we go again, this place is definitly hard on my wallet. Another order to go and I haven't even listened to all of the last CDs I recieved from J&R's last sale that I heard about here. Oh well, I may die broke but at least my daughter likes Jazz.

No pictures, but the best for me is the Breakfast Stout brewed and served in Grand Rapids Michigan at Founders Brewery. And as an extra special bonus, I get to listen to ORGANAISSIMO live and in preson! -_-

Hmm boy! Well uh it was in Spy Hard and Leslie Neilsen says "Love, let me tell you about love". And well, just as he paused, I farted. One of those that you just don't expect and gee whiz it was LOUD. Of course there was only about a dozen people in the place. Of couse my buddy told me later that it was the funniest part in the film.

I started my love affair with Jazz with Miles Davis. I ordered Kind of Blue from BMG along with my "regular" rock stuff and, well nothing. I liked it and bought a few more things over the years, McCoy Tyner, Joe Pass and a few others, but I didn't delve into it very far. My purchases of rock dropped off, nothing was really getting me going. Then I heard Jimmy Smith and liked that B-3 organ sound! I was hooked! Eventually I started reading the liner notes and realized that many of the sidemen were actually leaders in there own right and I could check them out as well. Once I started seeing Organissimo and talking to the guys, and then I started reading the posts here, well lets just say my retirement date gets farther away with each CD purchase. But damn its just so much fun!

Byrd/Adams goes straight to "Last Chance"

Mine was waiting on my doorstep this morning, are they always this fast? I've only had time to listen to the first disc and it does sound great. -

Man! I never should of started reading this thread! As a relitive newcomer to buying jazz, this is not going to do my bank balance any good. After reading about half way through, I decided to buy this. Then I finished reading the rest and now that Turretine set is sounding like something I would like. And the Mobley and the Parlan and-----Oh Good God! Well at least now I'll see what all the fuss is about Mosaic. -
I wish I could be there, but I'll be in Texas. Knock um dead guys!
