  1. Onilu - s/t [Eremite Records, US 2025] release of the year so far for me. How could it not be with Joe Chambers and Chad Taylor on board
  2. That's a good album by a good band
  3. Nice catch, patience is a virtue 😀
  4. You lucky people!
  5. That's good to know. Time to purchase I think Great album. I saw the trio without Campbell, some gig that was Happy anniversary!
  6. Wait til you get to my age... Ending on a high
  7. And I've not been able to unsee that ever since you mentioned it before...beware the white mitten!
  8. Thanks, so I was correct after all. It's just that pre-orders are available for some titles in some formats. I thought it odd that they were cutting across the very idea of RSD .
  9. Apologies for earlier misinformation. So RSD titles are generally no longer exclusive to physical shops or Resonance just do it their own way? Please ignore this
  10. Dick Van Der Capellen Trio -The Present Is Past [Relax Records, Holland 1967] First listen to this new arrival. I had an MP3 at one point but that disappeared in the ether. A recent Insta post by @clifford_thorntonprompted the purchase. Thanks Clifford!
  11. RSD releases are only available at first from physical shops. After 48 hours they can be sold online
  12. And to me, in fact I thought the premise of the film was to make a political point, it wasn't ever just a soul music concert film.
  13. Sad news. I have never got on with King Crimson at all but I really rate his work with Music Improvisation Company.
  14. Ian Brighton - Marsh Gas [Bead Records, UK 1977]
  15. Very special Great album
  16. More here https://thebluemoment.com/2025/02/17/dave-tomlin-1934-2024/
  17. Andrzej Kurylewicz - Contemporary Music Foundation [Appollo Sound, UK 1973]
  18. Haven't listened to Frode in ages
  19. It's all available to stream on BC now so not sure which two you have heard, probably the vocal with Neneh Cherry? First side is quite in the vein of that tune but no more vocals. Side 2 ups the tempo a bit and is less string laden but they're still there. Unsurprisingly Allen doesn't blow long and hard on this but he's definitely a major solo voice, especially on side 1 but so too are Michael Ray and Knoel Scott in places. Marshall wrote all but one track so his voice is there compositionally too. Sleeve notes say they aimed for it to be wide ranging across the styles he's played. It is, which for some might mean it feels a little disjointed. I don't.
  20. Marshall Allen - New Dawn [Week-End Records, Germany 2025] Just gorgeous
  21. Sad news indeed. Some great recordings in the catalogue. I saw him some years ago now and his health didn't appear robust even then.
  22. Last night, Tyshawn Sorey trio at Café Oto, Sorey with Aaron Diehl and Harish Raghavan One of the great Oto nights, a performance for the ages. Over two hours, uninterrupted improvisation from a trio of truly superb musicians. Better words than mine describe it here https://thebluemoment.com/2025/02/11/tour-de-force/
