  1. Video unavailable here. That piece is probably the only Ives I could take a stab at identifying Just to add, I did listen to the new Denk recording this afternoon and enjoyed a fair deal of it so will be revisiting.
  2. Great, thanks Scott. I like a little project.
  3. It's on Tidal. So as someone who's been intrigued by Ives but never really engaged, where do I start?
  4. I think "Geezer" might have a different meaning over here, a bit shady, on the make possibly illegally, with an element of roguish charm. Maybe not! "Old geezer" is specific and slightly different. An old one of those above but more commonly generically used for old man, affectionately Divided by a common language again...
  5. Wow! If I had the wealth and the health to get there I'd be there in a flash
  6. My pleasure, I'm pleased it's being appreciated!

    Quincy Jones RIP

Shhh...don't upset the Jazz Police with this mention of commercial popularity 😀 l saw Austin Powers mentioned at least once yesterday, Channel 4 news I think maybe also in the Guardian's coverage. I suspect writers are finding it pretty difficult to get everything in within their word counts, a testimony to his wide range. The Petridis piece in the Guardian is good but even that ends up reading a bit like a list of his collaborations through the years.
  8. Exactly, on both counts 👍
  9. Me too now but streaming not LP. Just looked at the band, absolutely ridiculous line-up. And what a version of 'Troubled Waters'
  10. Thanks, I look forward to hearing that
  11. I really like that album, picked up an LP recently. Can you recommend anything similar? And playing here for obvious reasons

    Quincy Jones RIP

Not on the BBC, so far the Jackson years have been mentioned but easily as much focus has been on his other work in film, with Sinatra and writing/arranging for big bands etc. I'm impressed by their coverage and hoping for some more in depth as they pull it together. That aside, those Jackson albums are pretty damn important in recent-ish music history and definitely deserve the coverage.
  13. Yes, me too Concept reminiscent of the New Directions album from 2000 (!?!) which I really enjoyed. https://www.discogs.com/master/1431771-Harris-Moran-Osby-Shim-New-Directions Although New Directions did a lot of covers whereas the new band seems to be original material
  14. That sounds like a lot of blood for a small dog, glad to hear she's ok now and being soothed by GG
  15. Lots of coverage on BBC radio this morning Titan
  16. Mitch Mitchell Noel Redding Jimi
  17. Seeing this made me realise I'd not heard about Gjerstad for a while, he used to be a regular visitor to the UK. Just checked his Bandcamp and he's still releasing which is good to see. Time to catch up on some recent releases
  18. Needless to say my copy cost a bit more
  19. Very insightful, sign him up for Wire now
  20. Yazz Ahmed - La Saboteuse [Night Time Stories, UK 2024 RE]
  21. Edvard Munch J.B.Priestley Trevor Nunn
  22. The Gil Evans Orchestra - Into The Hot [Impulse/Sparton, Canada 1962 mono] Such a strange release, I wonder how many Evans fans felt hoodwinked in 1962
  23. I'm really pleased I bought that. The extra material is very worthwhile
  24. That's a good album
