  1. That's a good album
  2. Cage - Four, Quatuor Bozzini
  3. Clementi - Momento, Quatuor Bozzini
  4. Oh, I asked because I like his vibes playing...
  5. The Redman and Braxton are pretty brutal but I suspect fairly commonly held views at the time
  6. I just think autocorrect hates me, as my earlier post indicates...if/is... I suspect gurdy is preferable
  7. how much vibraphone does Tubbs play?
  8. If your hurdy furry or gurdy? What is this TikTok of which you speak
  9. I've been flirting with the Maeght since RSD, interesting to see your glowing impressions
  10. I did the same...😃
  11. It's actually shrewd marketing. Jazz events need to make money so you highlight the names with the biggest potential audience. Activity for years doesn't necessarily equate to folk through the door. It's a commercial event not a charitable one. And the "Jazz masters" get to expose their undoubted mastery to a potentially new and wider audience which can only be a good thing for them.
  12. I like Tord's albums well enough as they are (just don't listen to more than one at a time) but I can see the attraction of putting a rocket under him I'd never really thought about it like that but as I type I'm listening to Paul Bley's 'Ballads' (an essential ECM for me) and your description is spot on for a lot of Altschul's playing, not all of it as some is carrying the beat if only obliquely. And this album is from 1971.
  13. I think referring to The Roots, Monae, Collier and Spalding as nobodies probably says more about you than you think. One person's nobody is most definitely someone else's somebody. Sweeping dismissals like that really does no one any credit
  14. I seem to remember a similar thread from last year. I also think this is a good lineup, established names alongside newer artists that are taking Jazz into interesting directions
  15. I remember buying that when it was released. I must check the shelves to see if it survived subsequent clear outs
  16. Just catching up with this really sad news, I'm sorry to hear that Fiona will no longer be there to enjoy her listening sessions with you. For some reason the mentions of her in your posts always brought a smile to my face. A great companion departed, but on her own terms, and I hope your memories of all those hours together bring some solace. And what a great musical tribute to her too. An album I only recently discovered (I know) due to your enthusiasm for it here.
  17. Can't go wrong with Charles on ECM as far as I'm concerned, enjoy them
  18. Ron Jefferson Choir - s/t [Sam Records, France 2020, mono RE] Just following the mood
  19. My favourite brand and no, I don't play golf
  20. I'd love to go to Den Bosch but not too sure I could be so disciplined as you @Pim Some great stuff there, the Jefferson is terrific, do you know the one that Sam Records reissued? It's an absolute gem.
  21. I'm yet to see him live but have enjoyed each of the albums.
  22. Just heard 'Summertime' from the RSD Hubbard on the radio, great sound and pretty fine performance too.
  23. Thanks for the tip. There was a time about 25 years ago when I nearly lived in the JT, had a 40th birthday celebration in there. Haven't been for years now. Mild is a beer that I used to drink, usually as mild & bitter, in my 20s but haven't seen any since I don't think. With you on milk stout, my current pub of choice often has a very nice one from Bristol but I can't remember the brewery.
  24. I can almost taste that, stout or porter are my beer choices too
