  1. Miles Al Di Meola Zappa Robert Fripp Keith Jarrett
  2. Great story! The first time I'd ever heard of him is in the song "Catholic Girls": "Catholic boys! Warren Cuccurullo... Catholic boys! Kinda young, kinda wow!"
  3. try lightening up a bit. you'll live longer. If you like Zappa, maybe you'll find the other threads interesting too! sorry, my bad. i thought you were being sarcastic and dismissive. gonna switch to decaf for a while. :blush2: LOL I've seen other posts about Zappa by 7/4, I knew he was a believer! I'm amazed how many people (on other forums) dismiss Zappa as "novelty music" or some other such label. They clearly haven't listened to enough of his work to get a full impression of him.
  4. I've seen that! I think it's so cool. Actually, some of it reminds me of the more bizarre stuff on his early albums. And Steve Allen is certainly open-minded and very gracious!
  5. Wow! Some really great stuff in this thread. Two of my favorites: Mott the Hoople and Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Here are two more:
  6. Sorry if this one's already made its appearance, but I don't have the patience to look through 42 pages just now!
  7. This is something you don't see every day:
  8. What's the name of the CD?
  9. Miles Davis, Kind of Blue Keith Jarrett, Arbor Zena or Mysteries Any album by Remember Shakti Chick Corea, Return to Forever
  10. I think it's more of a matter of coming and going for me. I'll get tired of an artist and not listen for a long time, and then hear one song or think of a song, and then that artist is all I'll play for several days.
  11. If your studio was in the sort of neighborhood ours is in, trust me, you wouldn't give up that glock. As for the methamphetamines, if you changed your mind on that one the distributor is conveniently located just a block away.
  12. I don't know, I've run into flakey musicians of every age and instrument.
  13. He's definitely agitated, although his answers are pretty lucid. And the lack of eye contact is eery. Thanks for posting this, though.
  14. The Beatles definitly did "shwing," although my favorite tracks where were they did something unusual: "Tomorrow Never Knows," "Happiness is a Warm Gun," "Within You Without You," for example. But tracks like "One After 909" swing like nothing else.
  15. Yeah, I've been toying with the idea of getting a turntable for really special albums, but CDs seem like a good compromise between sound quality and durability. Thanks for all the advice, everyone!
  16. That's generally what I do. I guess I didn't phrase my question as well as I could have. I just want to be sure to get the best quality recordings. Actually, I enjoy collecting individual albums, but I don't know a lot about "remastered" versions. I just know I've bought a couple remastered CDs that were great, and a couple that weren't done that well. If I'm going to flesh out my Miles collection, I'd like to get the best quality recordings. Everything that's available. I really love that era of his music.
  17. I don't have any kids, but it sounds cool! Have fun!
  18. Thanks!!!
