So How You Feelin' This Holiday Season?
Son-of-a-Weizen replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Gosh, no kidding! My youngest had it on Mon and now the oldest daughter is suffering today. We're supposed to go to a matinee performance of the 'Nutcracker' at 2:00......better load her up with cold meds so that the ballerinas don't start glaring up at our seats full of hackers & wheezers. Guess that means that I can expect to come down with it sometime around Christmas Eve. Time then to battle the 'bug' by busting out that Caol Ila 19 yr old Cooper's Choice Single Malt I've been saving. -

So How You Feelin' This Holiday Season?

Thanks. I was just about to skip some pain meds, but decided to obey orders...at least until tomorrow. David I had the double inguinal surgery about a year and a half ago. I couldn't believe how painful it was...and I took the meds. Catching the stomach flu 24 hours after leaving the hospital and having dry heaves with all that lovely new stitching was the worst thing I've ever experienced. Good luck & a quick recovery to ya!! -
I think....think ...that I may have stumbled into a good deal over at Amazon Canada yesterday and snagged the Consecration box for a darned nice price -- CDN$ 12.72 ($11 US?? ). With an $8 shipping charge my guess is that it's the 8-disc box. Is this possible??? Have received a confirmation notice so we'll see what happens.

How does your spouse react to your hobby/obsession?
Son-of-a-Weizen replied to Dmitry's topic in Miscellaneous Music
My wife appreciates the music and the collectibility craze of mine with the mini-lps and all. She likes to go up to The Kitano and visit the in-house club and a few others like Birdland and the VV. If she's in her car driving to work in D.C. (plotting, scheming, deciding the fate of small nations, while tightly gripping the wheel ) she'll always have on something that's pretty revved-up like Tom Petty, Pat Benatar, AC/DC or Damn Yankees (most of which I've bought for her because she's not one to hit the cd stores)......but up here in the study likes to listen to jazz when in after hours relaxation mode. The only time she had a sour look on her face was when I attempted to spin the Trane/Pharoah 'Live' in Seattle disc.....truthfully, neither of us liked it. -

I was wondering if they'd do something like put Steve Irwin on there for all of his good nature/environmental awareness raising deeds? Would have been better than YOU. -

Takarayama had one up one ebay this morning. I was all set to bid but got distracted. Cripes, we're probably all bidding against one another on half his auctions. I hate that 'private auction' biz. -
When you get your refund, why don't you use it to bid on this nice record with Kinny Durham on it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...type=osi_widget

Christmas dinner... lamb
Son-of-a-Weizen replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Don't know if you're wedded to the leg of lamb idea, but have you thought about rack of lamb that you put on the grill? Looks to me like you're looking at pretty big crowd and will have to make that recipe twice over...... alot of prep time and cooking time. You can get beautiful racks of New Zealand lamb at Costco for about $11 each. Unless it's a heavy eating crowd, you'd probably need 9 or 10 racks total (4 at a time on a large grill). I've used this recipe several times and it's good. You can do half of 'em with the marinade and the other half lightly coated with olive oil and rubbed with a mixture of herbs. Just ignore all the 'butcher/frenching' biz if you get the vacuum sealed racks. Serve up some nice thick asparagus (always peel it) w/butter, mint jelly and rice pilaf and you're golden. http://whatscookingamerica.net/LambRackPinot.htm ......and a good, affordable, widely available, higher octane Zinfandel to serve with lamb: http://www.seghesio.com/seghesio/catalog/v...07&cat_id=1 -

Are these cds duds ....or worth purchasing?
-
That's for sure!! Yes, thanks.....it's in my Hiroshi shopping cart!!!

Yes, great deal! Those titles in the VICJ-23*** series were running 2,300 yen when released back in the early 90's. I've been on a vocalist kick lately so I'm definitely in for that Bev Kelly 'In Person'....... ....Cracklin & Bley as well!!

Day after Thanksgiving I knocked a full (well, minus a glass) magnum of red off the counter and it smashed on the tile floor. Actually, now that I think about it....that tile floor has started to look and feel a bit perkier the past couple of days. -
Florida Deputies Pull Naked Man From Alligator's Jaws LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 30) - Deputies pulled a naked man from the jaws of a nearly 12-foot-long alligator that nearly severed the victim's arm, the sheriff's office said. Four deputies waded through thick mud about 20 feet into Lake Parker to find Adrian Apgar, 45, around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office said. They were responding to multiple reports about a man screaming for help. Deputy Billy Osborne said he pulled Apgar's arms while the gator gripped the man's lower half and eventually helped pull Apgar free. The deputies said they couldn't shoot the animal because it was too dark and they might have hit the victim. It was not clear why Apgar was in the water at such an early hour. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Apgar told deputies he had been smoking crack. Apgar was taken to the hospital in critical condition with an apparent broken right arm, leg injuries and his left arm hanging by a tendon. Hospital officials did not immediately release information about his condition. The deputies were not injured. Fish and Wildlife trappers said they believe they caught the alligator near the site of the attack later Wednesday, although they said they couldn't be sure it was the same animal. 11-30-06 02:53 EST
