  1. Geez, now if i can get this with that .....I'll be all set! Good point......would rather avoid that. It would be nice to hit some Montreal jazz venues as well....I'm fortunate in that my wife enjoys going to see live jazz. BTW, Robert -- since I forgot to follow up earlier w/you, how was the Amsterdam trip last year? You get to the Kracked Kettle and that smoky hole-in-the-wall brew joint ('Golem') just across the alley?
  2. Patricia (pictured in black Auxilliary Civil Defense gear below) spied the thread.....let of out quick ..........and just over 100 minutes later had already rented two of those industrial 40 Lb sandbag-filling machines and managed to fill enough bags to surround her apartment complex. Funny, IIRC, that's almost the same thing that Chris Albertson did after seeing my 'Soon heading to Birdland, Smoke & Jazz Standard.....looking for places to stay in vicinity 104th Street Upper West Side' thread last summer. I decided to drop by his condo two days early w/coffee, doughnuts and a nice framed pic of me with McCain in '88 --- and there he was!!! ...standing outside in 25 degree weather working 4 of those machines at breakneck speed!!
  3. Last November we went to Quebec City (1st time) and had a wonderful time. Will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary later this year and thought about Toronto or Montreal, neither of which we've visited.
  4. Haven't heard it but I don't think you need to worry about it being counterfeit. It's been sitting there with that seller for awhile so clearly folks are concerned about that. I too was a bit concerned about counterfeits, but (after my posts here) went ahead and bought a bunch of k2s from various sellers in PRC and they were all legit. http://cgi.ebay.com/JOHN-COLTRANE-Complete...bayphotohosting Tell you what...if you've zeroed in on that particular JPN cube set because you've not yet found a sealed domestic LP size box...and would actually prefer the domestic, I've got a sealed one that I'd work a trade on.
  5. Right, follow Route 7 (King Street which becomes Leesburg Pike) over to Falls Church. The jazz section at that location is also in serious shrink down mode but there's still a better selection than the other. I was there a couple of weeks ago....found a Buster Williams sacd which was surprising.
  6. Weizy starting to buy cds w/ organ playing? There's hope yet! Great choice, btw. I know it! Funny that you remember that! It was that Ike Quebec 'Spring' one that really soured me. I'm trying to swerve off the 'consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds' track and check out more organ stuff!
  7. The jazz section at the store down by Pentagon City has been reduced to the size of a breadbasket. I bought a Pat Martino 'El Hombre' RVG on Thur....cracked it open last night and my cd player stopped reading on track 4. A bad RVG?
  8. Damn, it is not limited to 10,000. I was gonna buy two, wait til it goes out of print, and then trade it to some sucker that missed out. [Like me, on that darned 69 Fillmore set.] I ordered 3 so that I can trade two plus my OJ rookie card for that '69 set. $100 for a 9-cd box and yet they start in with the 'Greedy Bastards' talk. _________________________________________________________ Greedy Bastards On March 17th, 2008 Will said: $100 for three shows? A Benjamin for only 9 cd's? Are you kidding me? The Dick's Picks series was attractively priced, but this is not. I guess too much money had to pass through too many hands to work out the Rhino leasing deal, and now it's the fans who end up paying for it. I have purchased every last scrap of officially released Grateful Dead material that there is, but no more. This is a sad day for me. P.S. Phish releases their complete shows at 40% less than this (and I'm talking about remastered cd's, not downloads.) Go ahead and make a joke about Phish's music, rich 70's heads, but I'm not laughing.
  9. Different seller......but this one is destined to go through the roof and into orbit. http://cgi.ebay.com/CROSBY-STILLS-NASH-YOU...1QQcmdZViewItem
  10. What? ....like the Jerry Lee Lewis set? Agreed..... you need something like a clear trash bag for that.
  11. The one that I attended was up in NYC....you skipped that one? Must have been 1980 because The Romantics were one of the top acts.....Captain Sensible was also there. Yes, it was a 3-day deal.
  12. With all the bitching starting in over at Hoffman about 'imperfect' AP 45 vinyl coming out of RTI, bet the Mosaic folks are too happy to be out of that biz.
  13. I think he's curious because Lowe again requires some moderating in the political forum.
  14. Guess you must have missed the fine print that said '$22 per cd additional shipping charge to Germany, Luxembourg & France'
  15. Sidebar accompanying the article "the Demands of Piano Jazz" in today's WSJ. Cecil Taylor
  16. Chris, how about conducting a quick séance tonite to bring him back for a Part 2 interview? Show him this bucket of rust & misapplied glue and see what he says. http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Complete-Bill-Evan...1QQcmdZViewItem
  17. You look out of place.....bet they thought you were with the funeral parlor staff.
  18. I don't even know why it's news when a sled dog dies of a heart attack during a race in Alaska....but it was listed as a Top News story on Aol earlier in the week. Dog Dies in Iditarod Trail Sled Race AP/AOL Posted: 2008-03-08 21:41:39 ANCHORAGE, Alaska (March 8) - A dog in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race died on Saturday. The 7-year-old male, named Zaster, was the first dog death in this year's race.
  19. I saw 'Let's Get Lost!' for the first time yesterday in a DC theater...and it really hit me!
  20. ...could it be http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story...7-10388,00.html ???
  21. Was Chet Baker's 'In Milan' ever out as OJC reissue vinyl?
