  1. WBCN & Incubus. What a weird little.. um, interview.
  2. Yeah, I know.....I was reviewing the surveillance footage and saw you lead them out the front door. How ever did you manage to disarm them and slip the handcuffs on?
  3. I'd send the HMV Japan folks a quick note and ask them to verify that this is in fact the right disc (they speak english). True, the photo in the item description is incorrect...and there are 7 tracks listed (they've probably bungled and pulled the track info from the 2008 JPN RVG edition (TOCJ-7125) with the extra track) but the June 30, 1993 release date matches up perfectly for TOCJ-4029 ...and that's the key thing to look for in their listings. Also, the 'regular price' info is in line with the original 2,300 Yen figure. So, for $19 plus shipping, probably worth it to drop them a line. http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/20524
  4. I don't believe that it actually exists. There's the JRVG that you've heard before...plus a couple of TOCJ reissues from 2005 and 2007 (6500 & 7000 series???) No DD in that 4000 Series.
  5. He's from over at the Hoffman board so he's not beaming in from Mars. I think he likes Horace Silver TOCJs?
  6. All ready for Summer with a couple of new Tees. ...but what's wrong with this picture??
  7. Since this product seems to be moving pretty well, will the industry Evans-watchers take note and decide to reissue the Verve collection in something other than the clunky rust box?
  8. My great-grandmother died while aboard a passenger liner on a trip back from Italy in the 60's. In her final minutes she said something to the infirmary attendants about contacting my grandmother to tell her about $100,000 that was hidden somewhere in the house....then she was gone. Though there was some question about her rapid medical deterioration and quite possibly delusional state of mind at the time, we poked around a bit over the years but never found anything....so who knows? We sold the house in the early 90's. Say, anyone want to go bust up a house in the Boston burbs? I'll give you the address!
  9. Franco Cerri and his European Jazz Stars Recorded 1959.....first time on CD DIW-3018 Art/Disc both M- $12 shipped to US address. PayPal only. Thanks.
  10. PM sent on: The Cecil Taylor Quartet -Looking Ahead MINT $5
  11. I received an 'order shipped' notice from Best Buy last night. Thanks for mentioning this BB set, Lon.
  12. Announcement: I'll soon be leaving for Key West and will pack several linen button down shirts, 1 pair linen pants, 1 pair pleated khaki poplin pants, 2 pair shorts, 1 Blue Mitchell t-shirt and 1 Jackie McLean 'Capuchin Swing' t-shirt.................and a fishing reel.
  13. A Blue Train sold for $8 on eBay last week. In Jan, a sealed copy of the JPN SACD didn't get a single bid.....then it was relisted and sold for something like $10 or so.
  14. Too bad you didn't give us a heads-up on this. We could have at least made an effort to kidnap the SJ mailroom staff and infiltrate in one of our own to shuffle those votes around a little bit....maybe sneak Tippin' the Scales and some other goodies in there?
  15. The "Blue Note Works" series has been reissued a few times in the 1990s and the reissues all used the same TOCJ-15XX, TOCJ-16XX and TOCJ-4XXX catalogue numbers, which leads me to believe that these are not "BN Works" reissues. I wouldn't be surprised if those TOCJ-85XX releases are reissues of the cheap "TOCJ24" Blue Notes with catalogue numbers TOCJ-6XXX that were released in the early 2000s. I picked up several of those, but decided to ditch them after a few listening sessions because I didn't like the sound. Right, that's what I was getting at (though not too clearly). If this was a 'Works' re-issue, Miles Davis Vol. 1 would be the first one to hit the shelves....not Coltrane. I agree w/you....this must be those other ones.
  16. This is just the first batch of 50 titles with another 100 to follow. Based on the fact that they are being released in this sequence (looks like it's tied to overall popularity), I can't imagine it could be another 'Works' 20-bit run. If it were, you'd think they'd be releasing them in the same sequence as before...starting with Miles, Vol. 1, Vol 2, JJ Johnson, Bud Powell, etc.... right? TOCJ 8501 Coltrane,John(ts)/Blue Train 1100 TOCJ 8502 Adderley,Cannonball(as)/Somethin' Else 1100 TOCJ 8503 Clark,Sonny(p)/Cool Struttin' 1100 TOCJ 8504 Blakey,Art(ds)/And The Jazz Messengers(Moanin') 1100 TOCJ 8505 Hancock,Herbie(p)/Maiden Voyage 1100 TOCJ 8506 Rollins,Sonny(ts)/A Night At The Village Vanguard 1100 TOCJ 8507 Dolphy,Eric(as)/Out To Lunch 1100 TOCJ 8508 Morgan,Lee(tp)/Candy 1100 TOCJ 8509 Mobley,Hank(ts)/Soul Station 1100 TOCJ 8510 Blakey,Art(ds)/A Night At The Birdland Vol.1 1100 TOCJ 8511 Morgan,Lee(tp)/The Sidewinder 1100
  17. I had to laugh when I saw this comment from someone over at Hoffman re: the upcoming BN XRCDs: "In the middle of a recession there is a flood of audiophile reissues in all formats, even in despised ones, like CD." No kidding --- so we've got the 45-rpm Music Matters and AP vinyl.....BN SACDs, BN XRCDs.......and of course, overseas we've got Toshiba rolling right along with the best of 'em, preparing to churn out the TOCJ-8000 series......
  18. Are you happy with your Rega turntable? I've been considering buying the same turntable at some point. Yes, although I should mention that there was an audible (albeit low level) rubbing/grinding noise that both the dealer and I heard.....so he sent for a replacement motor and everything is perfect. Rega is not known for having motor flaws, so I'm guessing that mine fell off the back of the truck or something? Quite pleased with the cartridge. The green goes nicely with the green Iggy vinyl, dontcha think?
  19. You could be right about that.....although if a 2-cd SHM 'highlights' set was in the works, chances are it would be listed over at HMV Jpn along with the regular SHM 6-disc set that's due out in July. That set is still being described as 'remastered' ? .....a confusing listing for sure.
