The children mailed the president a letter on Nov. 13, inviting him to come help them build a snowman. They included a photo of the group, and wrote about how building a snowman together would demonstrate unity and peaceful living. The reply they received from the White House was dated Nov. 6 -- a week before they sent their letter -- and was addressed to "students." Thanks, just ordered it -- as well as Jazz Sur La Croisette : Cannes 1958 -- from Amazon.fr. The Thompson was gone.....but found a decent priced $7 copy from a seller in Asia.

Odd thing about that Toshiba (9359) is that the only place (inside or out) that you'll find any info about the musicians is on the japanese language obi. Norman Weiser's cover liner notes gives you zero info.....doesn't even mention the club.

Okay, I'll look around for that one. .......but geez, how many different 'Zoot Sims in Paris' discs are out there? There's the Vogue one.....then the copy (I have the Toshiba release) w/ 'Zoot's Blues,'A Flat Blues,' etc on it......plus this one you've just mentioned. Any others?

DO you know if this was this ever reissued in Europe? From 1958 according to the gokudo site.

The session was not part of the 'Jazz in Paris' series but was reissued on the short-lived 'Americans Swinging in Paris' from EMI France: Ahhh, I see. Thanks, Brownie. When you say 'short-lived,' I'm assuming that's code for 'it's long oop and you stand a better chance of finding a decent cigar & martini club in Khartoum than locating the CD' ?

I know that this set contains the 4 tracks from that Zoot Sims-Henri Renaud 'Night Session in Paris' 10" .....but is any of the Ducretet-Thomson material (recorded same year ..1956?) also hiding out on one of the 100 cds?

Was that among the titles that disappeared from your place in the 'great' cd heist you mentioned a few years back? I wasn't even aware of this BN disc and will most definitely be ordering it. Appreciate all of the suggestions.

My Dad loves Boogie Woogie. He was down visiting last week and brought along a few discs from the Mosaic 'Boogie' Select I'd picked up for him. I really couldn't believe how giddy he got when it was on....almost like a kid! I'm thinking that I'd like to pick up for him a Meade Lux Lewis cd for Xmas and am looking at this one. It's oop, but I've seen a few (new) Amazon seller copies going for about $35. If anyone's familiar with this 14 track cd, it's the 3 or 4 full rompin' tracks like 'Joe Prein's Boogie', 'Bush Street Boogie' and 'Hangover Boogie' that are most up his alley. Should I go with this one.....or are there others I might want to check out first? Thanks.
