  1. Not if it's from an Airbus A330 off the coast of Brazil. ..or did they finally find that one?
  2. I wouldn't worry about this place.......I'd worry about filling out/submitting the 'hold mail' card so that all the postal employees in the sorting room know when you'll be gone. ......also, check out the MN Arrowhead region.....nice scenic drive up towards Grand Marais. Stay at the Lutsen Resort (in Lutsen) and take the gondola up the mountain (small)......maybe play a round of golf at Superior National Golf course overlooking Lake Superior and lose 2 dozen balls that'll ping-pong around the birch trees if you're even 3 feet off the fairway!
  3. A sealed Serge Jpn edition for a good price on eBay.....and a Defranco for a so-so price. :blush2:
  4. Not on the one I was listening to this morning. Was John Lewis really there?
  5. This one's out on cd.....but wasn't there a 2nd vol recorded at about the same time that has yet to see the light of (cd) day? ....the one with the red/white lp cover?
  6. I'd have to add in my favorite caddie/golfer.....Francis Ouimet, winner of the 1913 US Open at age 20. He'd clobber 'em all.
  7. He said it took 5 years for a craftsman to overhaul that bass? Talk about a guy who exhibits patience!
  8. So this then is the original 'Jackson's Ville' cover? No horn players to be seen on the Jpn Savoy mini-lp (COCY-78530) cover. Interesting.
  9. Chris is still miffed that they didn't have the Dan'l Boone caps over in Denmark, so all he could wear to school was...
  10. Not a typo, likely an algorithm failure. Notice that the other seller in the marketplace is offering the same title for 112.94. Subtract 1% from that price and you end up with...exactly the price Newbury is asking. So it looks like for a lot of titles they set their system to take 1% off the lowest seller's price, no matter what it is. ...then we have The_Music_Store competing with itself on this Lem Winchester one! http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000000Z8Q/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1269030790&sr=1-1033&condition=new
  11. .....and they're pretty good. I've still got a 1994 Syrah and a 2006 Pinot Noir in the cellar ......but the Daniel Boone lunchbox is long gone (truth be told, a Wild, Wild West lunchbox was my first choice back then).
  12. The only place where it looks like Newbury had a total brain fart is on Dameron's 'Fontainebleau.'
  13. They're inside those resealable mini-lp plastic sleeves w/flap. When I pluck a cd off the shelf to spin I just lay the OBI to the side. Not the most fine tuned system, I know. -_-
  14. Vic, I too am a big fan of the Venus recordings and have been steadily acquiring them over the years. For sure, some of the audiophiles over at the Hoffman site will not approve of that Venus 'loudness' (...me, I prefer to call it lush sound) A few personal favorites:
  15. ain't America grand? Yeah, well.....I suppose that when ya look at what else is going on around the globe these days -- millions of people who want to lob off yer melon just because you put the body of a dog on some cartoon depiction of a religious figure.....or think it's a neat thing to iron your breasts http://www.theworldly.org/ArticlesPages/Articles2006/September06Articles/Cameroon-Ironing.html ......some of these prude types come off as pretty bland/inconsequential.
  16. Next time you return home to Canada for a visit, make sure to pack your korean sausage to help ward off the biting cold!! http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/tech/Sausage-Stylus-a-Meaty-Must-Have-84137612.html
  17. Wish there was something like this for the monthly New York Review of Books. Those 11x15s are a pain to store.
  18. Is that (as one poster has suggested) really Steve McQueen sitting there during Ray Brown's solo (9:20)? Kinda looks like him.
  19. Okay, thanks for that info. I just heard some 40 second clips and your description of the last track was accurate to a T. Who in their right mind would even think to tack that sonic abomination to the tail end of a disc like that?
  20. Where did the final track ('The Way You Look Tonite') that was added to the JPN cd release come from? Vic? Dan? How's the recording quality? Hampton Hawes/Sonny Clark - The Pianoman (Vantage NLP 5004) Frank Rosolino (tb) Bob Cooper (ts, ob) Sonny Clark (p) Howard Rumsey (b) Stan Levey (d) June Christy (vo -3,4) "Lighthouse Club", Hermosa Beach, CA, September 3, 1956 1. 21. Okay, so we've sent you in for an eye exam. Which 2 letters first caught your attention and filled you with a sense of joy?
  22. Do piranhas feed on piranhas? Yes, of course they do! http://lawyersweekly.com/reprints/curtis1.htm
  23. Geez, you're gonna miss the height of the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC. What's the matter? You scared of Japanese tourists or somethin'????
