  1. ...and three cheers for it's identical japanese twin --- the JRVG!
  2. $200??? Try custom ordering from Justin....ouch!
  3. The "Down Home Piano" Lp was the first one I ran with......the song called "Mule" swings real nice.
  4. I'm all over that Fantasy/Prestige catalogue like a cheap suit. As I said over on that board, the best 'find' to date was the Mose Allison material (Local Color, Autumn Song, etc..)...none of which I had heard.
  5. Move to the right little man...move to the $@%#! right!
  6. They won't be airing any new episodes of "The Sopranos" by then, so who cares if the planet is pulverized?
  7. FYI, this lantern is from a now defunct brewery named "Bamberger Höfbräu." You can read more about the (quite interesting) history of this brewery at My Franconian Beer Guide Site Fred Waltman www.FranconiaBeerGuide.com Yes, I was aware of that Mr. Waltman.....I was merely using that photo as an temporary illustration. My lanterns are actually from Haller Lowenbrau and the panes of glass are identical to the attached photo (minus the green writing). Quick question for you -- next time I'm in Europe I'd like to pick-up some brew for Tod that'll remind him a bit of the old stuff he loved so much in the '70's that was brewed with New Bedford, MA harbor water...any idea where I should look? Albania perhaps?
  8. Don't have a spare but I'll part with the one I have if you've got any interesting BNs (or others) to trade.
  9. My favorite soundtrack has to be Spike Lee's "She's Gotta Have It"..........great line-up w/Harold Vick, Cedar Walton, Stanley Cowell, Joe Chambers, Virgil Jones, Bill Lee & Kenny Washington. The songs "Nola Instrumental" and 'Nola Cleans Up" (w/Bill Lee) and "End Credits" (some nice Vick)are all keepers......as is the melancholic "She's Walkin'".
  10. I see that AMG has already listed the Chambers Select (tagged with a Sept. 23rd release date) but there doesn't seem to be anything over on the Mosaic site. Anyone know if this will contain any previously unreleased nuggets in addition to the BN releases that most of us already own?
  11. BASS-sound="Eclypso" !!! Great disc.....anyone ever see the mini-lp version of this around? I've been iso.
  12. First stop, NYC's elite Bowary! Wrong again Parrotmeister.....actually, my first stop today will be the 'JRVG Mecca' otherwise known as the Tower Records in the East Village. Need anything?
  13. I think the clubhouse is where they gather at night to sift through the daily private message traffic and laugh themselves silly.
  14. You're doing some excellent work over there at the records center......remind me to have some new carpeting installed in your office as well as a few matching Queen Ann chairs.
  15. Munich is a dynamite place to kick back in the Summer. Always nice to come home and have to face the scowling customs officers who think you're pulling their leg when you tell 'em you've got 1 1/2 cases of pint bottles and 2 massive wrought iron brewery lanterns (like this but wall mounted) stashed away in the luggage. B)
  16. "The one thing that makes this 1960 session stand out from much of Scott's other work is the prominence of Lem Winchester's vibes as the chief counterpoint to her organ. While this quartet date also has George Duvivier on bass and Arthur Edgehill on drums, there is no saxophone or guitar." So sayeth AMG
  17. Umm..not quite my little Ingrid BergmanMeister
  18. Had an excellent time thanks! Nothing like sitting out in those 5,000 seat Chestnut tree-shaded beer gardens to beat the heat. Tell ya what, that Pathfinder Deluxe Garment Bag is an exceptional piece of luggage....you can comfortably stash close to an entire case of Rothaus Hefe-Weizen & Pils into her without busting a bottle!
  19. Tom, You'll want to head over to Sound Garden in the Fells Point area of Balt ........over on Thames Street. Less than 10 min from the stadium and adjacent to the inner harbor.
  20. Okay, thanks for the info folks...that "Western Mann" cd looks good to go.
  21. Could be....but my TOCJ copy says "The Lover".
  22. Yes, I had "All Night Long" on a couple of nights ago just to hear Watkins blazing trails. Funny thing though, during the transition from Byrd's solo to Hank's, sounds to me like Hank gets off to a clipped start..almost like he was distracted for a second while he put down a cigarette or something? A real shame that the song fades out just when Burrell seems to be on the verge of launching a major smoker...
