  1. Hey, you could have been stuck with much worse than a Garand. What was the FLN using? Sounds like you were too young to have been involved in the Casbah campaign? Did you arrive in '60, '61 or '62? I've read shocking things about the FLN (at Phillipeville?)...and equally shocking things about the French methods (largely successful) used to route out FLN cells? An interesting case study in anti-terrorism operations that actually has some relevance to what is going on today. The question is, in pursuit of a despicable enemy, will the U.S. end up following the French down that same gruesome path? Some would probably argue that we already have.....but I don't think so. What do you think?
  2. That's understandable given the embarrassingly low allowances you're reportedly shelling out for various cat-box, dishes & lawn mowing duties....all the other kids in the neighborhood are talking it up non-stop!
  3. Yeah, and if it turns out that it was just a false alarm and he's actually okay...........shoot him and nab that damn disc for me.
  4. Come to think of it, your CO neighbor -- and our fellow board member Ron F -- has been awol for weeks now. You don't think that he....?
  5. Play it smart....you don't want to be caught on audiotape like that poor fool up in Alaska screaming to the girlfriend to hit the 1,000 lb grizzly with a frying pan before the lights went out? Sad.
  6. Throughout modern history, the gentleman has always armed himself with a pistol, sword, dagger, etc....particularly when traveling after dark. All gentlemen, particularly those who live in densely populated urban environments fraught with highwaymen and derelict bandits, should adhere to this civilized, time-honored practice.
  7. Odd.....when I typed in his name, his head appeared on the screen, nestled deep in the bosom of a dainty, warbling Viking maiden from Reykjavik
  8. Santa finally delivered on the 'Charlie Brown' SACD...... nothing about the sound of this one.
  9. Well shucks Lon, and here I thought you were trying to be humorous with all of your talk about "clinically paranoid" wives and all. Guess I was just picking up on all the wrong cues. And yes, I do see it as a flame. Bully for you.
  10. Yeah right..... stepping up to the plate and donating to campaigns is a 'funny'. No wonder your guys are taking a pasting these days. Now that's a 'funny'!
  11. Hey Vic, How's that brother-in-law of yours out in Ohio? Still seeing eye-to-eye on 'things'.
  12. Sorry Lon. You're right of course. Don't sweat it Conn.....it was funny.
  13. Oh I see......gonna do the 'ol sugar in the fuel tank routine then? Cool.
  14. Who's that seller......mooshecat ....or copycat? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...9&category=1056
  15. You go girl!!! My resolution is to track down another 46 L black cashmere Ralph Lauren jacket like the one I just saw up in Boston a couple of days ago. John, they only had a 46 Reg. up there.....any chance you might pay a visit to your local Seattle store and help me out w/this? Gotta look nice when I'm dancing on Dean's political grave. B) While you're at it, pick up something comfortable for your political soul-mate Albertson....on my tab of course. When he leaves the confines of the fashionable Central Park digs and retreats to that spider hole for the next four years, he'll need some comfy threads.
  16. Sooooooooo, under cover of darkness you're gonna do something like sabotage the copy machine at your "R"-controlled place of business? They call him Bond......Lon Bond!
  17. This must be part of the material? http://www.plosin.com/milesahead/sessions.asp?s=510602&c=0
  18. Yes....a big thanks! I can't believe how clean that vinyl is!
  19. I do the same. Okay, I'll alter the thread title in order to keep you "old" guys from falling out of your wheechairs in shock & dismay.
  20. Not really. The actual JRVGs are: 9001-9251.....9361-9371......9501-9590. With some exceptions ("Talkin & Walkin', "Coltrane Time", "Bird's Eye View" "Modern Art", etc) the rest are all McMasters and were not Lion-produced Blue Note sessions. Suppose I could have called it the 'Toshiba Mini-Lp Collection'?
  21. Remove the synthetic Santa outfit from the equation, and ya wonder how M. Cuscuna views the world? B) 'Yes, little Rodney, we're gonna schedule a release date for that 'Dance With Death' Conn'............. ........... 'Yes, Arthur, we'll do that Crusaders Mosaic just as soon as.....'
  22. For those who have an interest in all things TOCJ, this Chinese BB laundry list contains everything right up though the Feb. '04 expected releases. http://musicpower.080.net/~musicp/bbs/show...98&pagenumber=4
