  1. Wonderful...Christo is so free, free, FREE!! Another example of how anyone can find their own little niche in a western democracy. (course he had to flee his communist home country first...but that's another story for another time) I'll be interested to see when he gets the go ahead to wrap a cluster of temples in Burma or the city of Wuhan in China.
  2. Hope that he & the bird will be knocking back a few this afternoon!
  3. Is that bar the place Bessie Smith first sang "Gimme a Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer" ?
  4. There was.......I've got a 20-bit remaster in mini-lp format.
  5. Don't look now but someone just posted some info about $11 Mosaic sets! No one on the board has ever dealt with the outfit in question, but screw it....let's get in our orders anyway!!
  6. Unless I happened to get the one 'bum' copy on earth, the mastering on 'The 1954 Paris Sessions' doesn't sound good.....particularly on the first track ("Red Rose") where you can clearly hear all sorts of weird ticks & glicks starting at about 2:00. Same with the 'Laffin and Cryin'. Seems to me that I remember hearing more of the same last time I spun the Clarke/Haynes 'Transatlantic Meetings' cd. What's up with Vogue?
  7. I'm assuming that the live 'Wizard of Montara' clip on that site isn't the one on the 'Vertical Vison' enhanced cd, correct? That live one's the one I'd be interested in paying to download. Is it perhaps available at some other site?
  8. Yes, get an extension cord, an old beat up chair draped with an old towel and hang one of those low-watt automotive heat lamps in there and leave it for the night. If it's warm in there, they'll cruise in.
  9. Hhhm, what? a crate of Venus mini-lps? ...TOCJs? ...VICJs? ... JRVGs? No way you're getting it!! I'll see your $$$ and raise it by a $ !!
  10. Certainly makes it easier to lap up any remaining suds.
  11. Excellent space saving idea, Maren! Despite having to bend his neck a bit, the Ostrich is 'okay' with it.......but that robin's going to be a problem -- I think I'm gonna need a hammer to get her down into the new 'nest'.
  12. Yes, very cute.....nice stuffed animal too! Soon you too will be awash in stuffed animals! Despite the fact that I'm forever telling my wife that we just can't fit another stuffed animal in the place....I just returned from a little Valentines Day shopping for the girls with these characters in tow. If you need another stuffed animal for your place (you know you do), they're at the local Hallmark store!
  13. Which board member(s) are you referring to? I've only sold one set (Blakey) on ebay... can't be me! B-)
  14. I wonder if the RVG will make that beer bottle falling over louder or softer on his remater of this date. Later, Kevin Less than a minute into 'Uncle Sam Blues' on Hot Tuna's 'live' acoustic LP, there's a beer bottle nailing the floor and breaking. I've always loved that! This truly is a wonderous recording.....I can't imagine anyone ever being able to improve the 'quality' through a re-mastering. Actually, is this even on cd? If so, it would be interesting to know if they tried to filter out the bottle. EDIT: I actually just answered my own question. The Hot Tuna has been remastered and if you listen to the soundclip over at CD Universe the bottle is still there, loud as can be!
  15. Yeah, an original Twinkie with Coolidge's face on it that was handed out to kids as a souvenir at the 1925 Inaugural Parade!
  16. Wait 'til Fall and then go for E) Pepper & Pacific Jazz Trio Selects
  17. Hey, imagine if it was a Twinkie with a face on it? She could just leave it out on a table for 60 or 70 years and use it as a bookend and there wouldn't be any noticeable change.
  18. Interesting. I'd have to admit to being totally in the dark on this as well. I hear the name George Duke.....I think Zappa. So how's this LP? Does it pre-date the other 'Jazz Workshop' one, also w/Heard?
  19. Live dangerously......get the Japanese 2-cd jobber w/all the alt. takes and be done with it. Don't make Brad mad. I wonder how long disc 9 on that forthcoming Stones "Singles 1968-71" box set will be? DISC 9: 1. Sympathy For The Devil 2. Sympathy For The Devil 3. Sympathy For The Devil 4. Sympathy For The Devil
  20. The sight of that has me weeping with joy. Were I not a strong man, I might buckle under and decide to trade you my one-of-a-kind AfricaBrass deluxe waffle with image of Jesus sitting next to Horace Silver on a park bench for it.
