  1. I have the original 'Soulero' 7" record, enjoy it, and was thinking of picking up the Collectibles cd in order to get the two tracks ('Makin' Whoopee', 'Django') not on the record ----- until, that is, I heard the clips from the Hubert Laws cd that's paired with it. Think I'd walk into oncoming traffic if I had listen to 'No More'..and some others immediately after Higgins. This seems like a very strange pairing indeed. Geez, maybe Blue Note'll follow their lead and put "Leapin' and Lopin" together with Black Flag's "Damaged" as a two-fer. http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Soulero%2FLaws...2VjA2FydHByb2Q-
  2. Yeah, seriously!! As a matter of fact, the new Pres/CEO of the National Music Publishers Association is a former top Ashcroft Lt. over at Justice who makes your average scheming, treacherous, D.C. cut-throat look like Shirley Temple. Someone told me about this at a dinner last night and I broke out laughing because I thought it was a joke. I'd been under the impression that he was looking to represent the American Association of Electric Chair & Guillotine Manufacturers for a tidy $500 k annual. http://www.nmpa.org/nmpa.html
  3. They're available in the UK according to who? I saw something posted by a new member who logged his/her first 2 posts today and thought it might be a joke.
  4. One brew and the dog's down for the count.......it's the cat that worries me!!
  5. Depends how you define 'won'. I see these avid cyclists stopped on the bikepath all the time either fielding a call or stopping to make one....and they're really not even able to enjoy a half-hour bike ride without the cell ball & chain. Just a short while ago, I'm out there watching 60-70 canadian geese splash about and do their thing in the canal and one guy is standing there bitching at someone about e-mailing some document..and then cycling off in a major huff, unable to enjoy the moment. Sadly, it's always like that...weekends, holidays, weekdays.
  6. Playing copy that is. B-)
  7. "Just a Burn" of this soon-to-be-one-of-the-most-collectable-JRVGs-in-the-history-of-mankind!!!!
  8. Actually Brownie...I believe several were picked up in NY during their regular Canada-Tunisia run/journey. That's just one example.
  9. Well, we know for a fact that a good number of al-Qaeda (and other) terrorists regularly passed through Tunisia, so it'll really hit the fan if that Blakey RVG isn't renamed 'A Night in Istanbul' !!
  10. We don't sell Mosaics...just JRVGs. Hey, you wanna buy a sealed 'Basra' JRVG? B-)
  11. Truthfully, I can't imagine anyone batting an eyelash.
  12. Hey Ghost, you should be happy that he ran with the signatures he did and not the one he really wanted to use: 'It wasn't the Republicans that were greedy and tried to get the $11 Mosaic sets' B-)
  13. Oh screw it! ....just bag it and re-issue 'The Rajah'.
  14. With songs like "Eiderdown' & 'Lazy Afternoon', it should have been named something like 'Pillow Talk' from the get-go.
  15. 'Candu' (imo) is not a stellar choice...real rough sounding......the Sims suggestion sounds better. If they're gonna go this route, why worry about adding a few extra letters?
  16. Question: What clubs in the U.S. still have that vintage smoky ambiance/feel? Not that I want to set myself up for a series of lectures about the negatives of smoke from the perspective of the musician or patron.....but I actually like that kind of environment.....and it sure ain't Blues Alley, Jazz Standard, Birdland, etc.. Where, other than the JazzKeller in Frankfurt, is the smoke-filled 50's club?
  17. Damn, Conn, all I have left is a burn of the JRVG! There'll be hell to pay for this when I hit the Capitol Beltway this morning!! B-) B-)
  18. Yes, quite...........and a nice review by Alon as well.
  19. 'Little Girl Blue' is a nice tune to have on while sitting before a cozy fireplace.
  20. Brahms - 'Klavierquartett A-DUR OP.26' - Beaux Arts Trio (Philips)
  21. Yep.....can't stand it.
  22. I'm sure, as you say, that they gouge you when certain folks show up......but $20 to see Herb Geller seems reasonable....and is probably a good bit less than what we'll shell out for Wallace Roney/Geri Allen tix next month at Blues Alley here in D.C. Hmmmmm......$60 for Eartha Kitt tix anyone? http://www.jazzkeller.com/programm/nextmonth.htm
  23. I've not yet seen an episode of 'Six Feet Under' but was thinking about diving into one the DVD boxes. I noticed that some of the early reviews around this place gave the show pretty high marks...and then the tide seemed to turn. Best to just check out the season 1 episodes (2002?) and then drop it?
  24. You don't say? Sounds incredibly handy! Say, Chris, while you're out and about the next couple of days taking snapshots of Christo's chiffon, mind if I have Ludmilla go to work on my Mercedes for a bit? I'm looking at a slow leak in the steering gear box, another in the steering shock absorber and a tiny one somewhere in the transmission area. If she could bleed the steering system, replace the gear box, the steering shock, a trans connector, a couple of seal rings ....and perform a quick 4 wheel alignment, I'd be eternally grateful. Shouldn't take more than 5 or 6 hours tops.
