  1. Who can fathom the collective mind of a fanatical IT department? The iPod policy I can sort of understand, since you can plug it into the USB port. CD-Rs... that one makes no sense. I've heard various explanations (they could contain malware, they can still be written to). More regulations come out every year and I gotta live with them. I finally got my PC refreshed and they whacked my iTunes library I had in place from 4 years ago (no updates allowed since then). Not an 'approved' piece of software. Too many ways for employees to goof off? I don't know...
  2. Yah, some guy dumped his whole 25-set collection at once this week. Could be the bad economy is taking more prisoners. With regard to the poll, I have a unique situation at work. If I want to do any listening at all, policy dictates I must bring in manufactured disks and play them on a standalone CD player--no home burnt CDs, no iPods, no iTunes or streaming on the company computer. Makes it hard on the wallet. At home I'm content with playing iTunes at the old default CD import level (192 kbps) on my HK SoundSticks. I really can't tell any difference between that and higher bit rates. I used to have a pretty decent home stereo system from the mid-80's, but every component has crapped out with age, including my Infinity RS 5 speakers, and I haven't yet replaced it. I may not bother. Thus an even split between CDs and converted CDs.
  3. Johnny Hodges - Complete Verve Small Group Sessions (1956-61)
  4. I'm stunned nobody has snatched up the Lou Donaldson. This was one of those sets that instantly went OOP last year and caught everyone by surprise. The first listing on eBay after that point went for $350.
  5. Does this mean it's being shipped? No, I was referring to newly released sets within the last 3-4 years.
  6. Believe it or not, I think somebody at Mosaic actually fat-fingers in the on-line version of the discography. I've found quite a few discrepancies between what's there and what's printed in my big booklets and CD tray cards. Hard to believe in this day and age.
  7. How much did it sell for?
  8. Reconciling my bills and listening to Stuff Smith. Kinda takes the edge off the pain.
  9. I'm glad the insensitive comment was removed.
  10. Yah, who knows what the system is anymore now that they've cut staff and moved their warehouse to a fulfillment center. I'm still trying to figure out why the Hank Mobley isn't in Running Low status given that 3 Org members have reported seeing serial numbers within the last fifty.
  11. Stan Getz - People Time, one of my 3 best purchases this year (along with the Shelly Mann set and the Ahmad Jamal Mosaic).
  12. Looks like it's sans CDs.
  13. New/sealed Wes Montgomery - Complete Riverside 12-CD box set, Newbury Comics, $80 + shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000000ZG6/ref=wl_it_of_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1V1FLTIU7WYHB&colid=35L630TSR7AI9&condition=all I'm kicking myself for not following jazzbo's advice. He was right!
  14. Not being a member of the Steve Hoffman forum, and apparently because of this, I'm not entitled to a Search function, would you be so kind as to post the forum link? Thanks.
  15. There's a Stan Getz/Jimmy Raney that has this beat: $299, $99.33 per disc. How does $198.99 per disc grab ya? The Complete Blue Note 1964-66 Jackie Mclean Sessions
  16. When did this go OOP? Mosaic Select: Gerry Mulligan
  17. What's interesting is that they can sell and ship it cheaper than Mosaic can:
  18. Wow!! $3.75 for a 3-CD & 1-DVD box set with shipping! Thanks! :tup Now the price is 34.95 $. Well, you guys didn't miss anything. Jazz Loft is not willing to live up to their mistake: Interesting how the box set is still being offered for sale.
  19. Gee, I wonder if the iTunes version of Touch and Go has that stray trumpet note too.
  20. Wow!! $3.75 for a 3-CD & 1-DVD box set with shipping! Thanks! :tup
  21. 1,500 to go! (well, actually, 1,499 )
  22. I like the French price much better.
  23. Hee hee, I just bought it in April after reading how it was on so many folks' desert island lists, and indeed it qualifies. Since I only discovered my jazz affection relatively recently (2006), I suppose I too can be forgiven.
  24. No, that's just accurate. Yes, absolutely. Couldn't agree more. I'm stuck with Windows at work and only use IE when I absolutely have to, e.g., when some idiot programs something that only works in IE. Firefox all other times.
