greg - it's funny you should mention this one because it's the first mellencamp disc i purchased, and then i bought "words + music" when it came out.

i have to admit that my opinion concerning john mellencamp has done a 180 degree turn. when he first became popular (around 1982), i was into punk and new wave, and i could not stand most of the preppie kids who liked "jack and diane" on the radio. well, 23 years later, while i still do not like his early recordings, i find that mellencamp continued to work on his craft, and my musical tastes have broadend (it's no longer us vs. them). his last few albums have been quite good, and his recent greatest hits collection does an excellent job of summarizing his career. some of the individual songs, such as "jackie brown," "you're life is now," "human wheels," and "key west intermezzo" are as good as anything popular music has had to offer in recent years. so i ask - who have you had to reevalute over the years?

how about "music from the knee plays" by david byrne. it's never been on cd, and i would have to think that it would sell enough to make money.

i think it makes great business sense to manufacture limited edition sets. i can tell you there are sets in my collection that i only bought because they were about to dissappear. if they were available without fail, i would often find something else to spend the money on.

i would second the loggins and messina recommendation. i'm not a fan (in other words i don't know much about their music), but there was a story about thier reunion on the cbs morning show, and they are probably just waht you're looking for.

i was going to ask about shipping today, and it looks like others beat me to it. my order (10 cd's) supposedly shipped on 6/2. so far it has not arrived.

the videos are too cool. it's nice to be able to see and hear the band.

i cracked this open this morning. it's very good. about a cross between dusty springfield and diana ross (of the supremes, not of later "muscles" fame)> i also enjoyed "sonic nurse." it reminds me a great deal of something i can't put my finger on. sonic youth have been around so long that they now sound like their imitators.

not yet. i'm listening to "sonic nurse" right now. i'll let you know what i think of the bettye swann once i pop it open.

well i've finally received 7 of the 8 missing cd's. they reshipped 7 on 5/3. and i received them on 5/5. it's consistently been 2 days shipping, and that's amazing. that's how i knew something was up with the missing cd's. unfortunately, when they replaced my order they forgot to include "night of the cookers," but once i pointed this out, they placed another order. i've been nothing but happy with yourmusic.com, and it's still a deal at $5.99 with free shipping. i plan to place one more big order before the price increase.

good news / bad news. the 9 cd's that shipped on 4/4 still have not arrived, but the 9 cd's that i ordered 2 days ago arrived today. that tells me that the 1st batch is definitely lost. unforunately yourmusic.com will not do a thing for 30 days. on a releated note - the first batch of verve lrp's are set to go out of print next month. luckily yourmusic.com seems to stock most of the titles. i just received the oscar peterson, astrud gilberto, dizzy gillespie, and 1 other one. they are all idenitical to the one's in any store.
