strange ebay occurence

mike - thanks for the reply. i've seen that happen often, but in 7 years of selling on ebay i've never had an auction viewed this many times, much less an item that is receiving no bids. -
i currently have some auctions on ebay (which i am not pimping). one of the items is a mezz mezzro classics cd. i use counters, and i am typically lucky if 30-40 view an auction, but this particular auction has been viewed over 850 times, and yet it still has no bids. the views have not all happened at once either. 2 days ago it "only" had over 500 views. does anyone know what might be happening here?

and sadly out of print.

downtown cincinnati. which at the time was surrounded by some very rural country, especially in kentucky. there are still people today with all of the media sturation that will go into a record store, and know the song that they are looking for, but not know who did it. if people heard a song on country radio, and stopped into the record store looking for that song - i could see them being surprised that the singer was a black man. not to thread crap - as if i already didn't - but the same older guy got his first job working for sid nathan (founder of king records), and on his first day of work sid came in looking for someone to go to lunch with. everyone else scattered (sid was not necessarily well liked), and my old coworker was the last one left standing. he was forced to go to lunch with sid. once lunch was over they went back to the car and sat for a few minutes. my friend finally worked up enough nerve to ask sid if he was going to start the car to which sid replied, "there's still 10 goddamn minutes left on the meter, and i'll be damned if i'll give them to anyone else".

we have one of those too. at least they love their jobs. not much snow expected here, but it should pour on the bengals / ravens game. that's not good for the home team.

something abou the color of the performer, and your average country music fan of the 60's to be exact.

this reminds me of a story from my days working at a record store. this was in the early 80's and i worked with an older gentleman who worked at record stores for his entire life starting in the 50's. he worked at a downtown record store when ray charles first country lp came out, and they could not sell it. people would come in, ask for it, look at the cover, and put it back. he told his manager to take the records out of the sleeve, and tell people the sleeves were coming in at a later date. they couldn't keep them in the door. we've come a long way.

thank god it's the score and not the stats the count. the week before when the chargers took it to the bengals - the bengal's offense was all world. marvin told everyone that would listen - it's the score not the stats. funny thing - take away the 3 int's and drew brees probably would've broken the league record. -
i've noticed recently that items with lower list prices ($12.98) such as the rvg series tend to have regular barcodes, whereas those cd's with higher list prices such as connoisseur series cd's tend to still have the bmg barcode.
-
the buyer of that cd started a topic about it on the steve hoffman forum. he has a complete set of the mfsl cd's, and that is the only title he was missing.

it's the bengals. next sunday i think i'd rather line up for one of theses. the pain won't be as bad, and it won't last as long. -
holy - you could be right on the trust factor. i've been burned more than once on an items description.

i was going to start a thread on this seller, and decided to do a search first. it's weird that we all think the same around the same time. i've been keeping an eye on his auctions, and many of his mosaics (and others) go for much higher prices than the norm. i am not sure if it is do to his claim on their condition or other factors (i.e. shill bidding). as an example - he listed a george shearing mosaic yesterday and it's already up over $170, yet there is another shearing mosaic that's been up for a week and it has languished at $40 with 1 bid the whole time. just doing some additional checking and he had a reprise ellington go for over $200, and i've never seen that one go for over $150, and it usually fetches no more than $100.

there are 5 of these on ebay right now. is it safe to assume that they are either stolen or promos?
-
i quit buying from them for that exact reason. if there are multiple sellers and they are the cheapest, then i will buy from the second cheapest. i don't know why they are allowed to do this.

i think i preferred the bengals when they were supposed to lose week in and week out. at least i was able to get all of my leaves up. now they rip my heart out, and leaves litter my lawn. -

damn - you did fine. i don't have that kind of b----. -
yeah - "my name is earl" and "the office" are both repeats, so they wouldn't have to compete with the world series. some competition.
-
i had to pack up my cd's for new carpeting recently, and i'm just now starting to unbox them. i was organizing all of my rvg titles together, and i had duplicat copies of "judgement," "a swingin' affair," and "smokestack." the saddest part - all 6 discs are unopened. don't tell my wife.

Help from German Members

the ebay auction is exactly what it is. the binding of the book is in poor condition and written in old german script, so i mistakenly thought it said gartenlande, but it is gartenlaube. unfortunately it does not appear that it will pay for the work that i'm having done. drats. -
