I'm just now realizing that these two recorded together many times. I've always loved Higgins drumming; he always sounds so happy when he's bashing those skins! Especially on tracks like "Yes I Can, No You Can't" or "Our Man Higgins!" And it's because of Higgins that I prefer Morgan's 60s work to his 50s work (yes, even over that of my favorite drummer, Art Blakey). I mean, Morgan was always great, but Higgins brought out something deeper in Morgan that went beyond the fire-breathing hardest-bop of the 50s. Not that he softened it, mind you; just brought out different shades and nuances of it. For my money, the trio of albums--Search for the New Land, Cornbread, and Gigolo--are some of Morgan's finest sides, bar none! And don't even get me started on all those wonderful Mobley albums they invaded a well!

zzzzzzSHNORT.... huh? wha.. wha... did I miss anything? Lately, our room has been awfully stuffy, causing it to be warmer than normal. This is fine for my wife, who gets cold when the mercury dips below 95; not fine for me, Mr. Light Sleeper. I can't remember the last time I slept the entire night without waking up for one reason or another: too hot, too cold, sheets bunched up under me, potty break, psycho-cat growling at the neighbor cat. Last night I woke up all itchy with the chorus of "Domingo Morning" running thru my head (not that that's a BAD thing, mind you!). I'd give anything for a full night's sleep that didn't leave me feeling groggy in the morning.

The reviews I've read make it seem like this movie is like watching the back of one of Dylan's mid-60s albums come to life.

Rent the movie ROUND MIDNIGHT (get the soundtrack while you're at it, it's wonderful too!), and you'll be able to see some great footage of Billy playing live with Dexter Gordon!

Not that it matters, but the main reason I asked is because I listened to MYSTERIOUS TRAVELLER thru the headphones the other night, and those last three tracks hold pleasures I hadn't heard with simple listening. I was thinking that SWEETNIGHTER might've been along the same lines. I guess I'll just have to get it and find out for myself!

May as well give up waiting; I think the RVG lists from here until mid-2004 don't include either title. But you just know that the minute I pick 'em up, Blue Note's gonna change their minds!!! Besides, I've been seriously grooving to the new Steve Winwood, ABOUT TIME!!! I know it has it's own thread, but this is BY FAR the greeeeeeeeaziest non-jazz album of the year!!! Can I at least be on probation since I got Jimmy Smith's HOME COOKIN recently? Nowhere near the one-two punch of SHACK & SPECIAL, but greeeeeazy nonetheless. Besides, even the cover makes my mouth water for some serious greeeens!!!

I see that Heaven will likely require a dress code. DAMN! And I got rid of all my leisure suits in '81!

Does anyone else remember a commercial from the 70s built around the jingle, "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet?" I'll probably have that jingle in my head for the rest of the night!

That's cool. I'm not familiar with BB software, and thought that might've been something that came with the package. Oh well, back to fighting temptation again. DAMN!

Can the software be set up in such a way that individual members can determine which forums' new posts aer displayed when they click on the "View New Posts" link? I don't know about anyone else, but when I log on here, the first thing I click is "View New Posts." Now, normally I don't like reading the Political threads, but they are displayed because that's the way it should be. Unfortunately, I'm sometimes a sucker for an argument and get hooked into one of these threads; then my anger gets the best of me and I let it bring me down. However, this is MY fault; not the Board's, not any individual member. So I was thinking, perhaps in each member's "My Controls" section, there could be a checklist, listing each forum that would display on the "New Posts" screen. The member could check off the forums he/she wants displayed (or if the member doesn't want to customize his list in such a way, it would automatically default to showing every forum's new post), and leave un-checked the forums he/she doesn't want displayed. This way, if the "New Posts" screen is one's entryway into the world of the Organissimo Board, and say f'rinstance a member doesn't want to be tempted by the Politics forum, he (I) could simply leave that forum un-checked, and those posts would not be displayed. This way, nobody would complain about a particular forum if one doesn't make the temptation available to one's self. Or something like that.

Pin this baby! I think I'm just gonna sit back and read this one. I don't have it, and the lineup doesn't intirgue me (at this point), but that could change over time.

Just wanted to post a small but humble "thank you" to all who participated, as today marks the "official" end of my AOW thread. This is my favorite period in Miles career, and you guys helped me enjoy this album as much as I did the first time I heard it a few years back. In fact, I wish I could have posted a link to the thread I started at the BN Bored when I first heard this music. There was lots of great commentary on that thread as well, and I always enjoyed going back and reading it and recapturing that initial burst of excitement I felt the first time I heard this stuff. The thread may be gone, but the excitement still lingers. Thanks again, all! If I ever get nominated again, I PROMISE I'll nominate something greeeeeeeazy!

DAAAAAMN STRAIGHT!!! Great commentary there, Lon! Really enjoyed reading that! I may have said it already, but those sections where the horns have to go it alone with only Ron and Tony behind them......I love 'em, but they scare me to death! Playing yer butt off, knowing these guys're gonna be kicking yer a** all over the studio, well..... could cause a strong man to cry like a baby just thinking about it. Me, it just gives me the chills!
