  2. my order is listed as "Completed" (on the website) as of June 27 but have received no shipping details or confirmation of shipping spoke too soon - received shipping notice & Fedex # this morning - projected to be here by July 3
  3. Interestingly that was the cut off I suggested IIRC (Kicker to Spiral/Medina) to Michael years ago when he was mulling over a Hutch set but then opted against it.
  4. My TOCJ mini LP style CD (94444) of SOS has a previously unreleased track "Blues" (4:36), apparantly from the same session
  5. I usually request removal of jewel cases so the disc(s) is/are usualy shipped in the "letter/small package"category & remarkably cheap to Australia
  6. some nice stuff in there - Mobes & Melle BN, Freeman PJ, Alex North Streetcar... Cap, Shank Nocturne, Leith Stevens Wild One Decca, Stitt Savoy, Strayhorn Mercer, Thornhill Trend, Weston Riverside, Webster EmArcy, Mary Lou Williams Atlantic have a smattering of jazz 10" LPs, primarily australian pressings (not that common here), some with unique covers plus others that were only on 10" here (12" in other countries with no 10" release) Have always liked this format aesthetically - the early years of more creative album cover art plus the 10" lasted for only a short time (longer here in Australia though)
  7. Steve Lacy signed my box - value added? I listened to those Prez/Goodman tracks when I visited the Jazz Museum in Harlem back in 2017
  8. There are 11 sets in the series (mostly doubles with some singles) with 8 having been released so far & three more left to be issued/released (unsure of titles/dates as not listed yet AFAIK)
  9. RIP Francoise Had just finished the recent Morton Jack Nick Drake biography where she is mentioned a few times (meeting ND, attending recording sessions, ND possibly writing for her etc)
  10. I did end up picking up the Henderson set & agreed it's SQ is spectacular
  11. This has been available as a download (with extra material via Anderson/Chusid) since 2014, listed as such in Art Yard's "Omniverse" (2015, p188, #88) The extra ten & a half minute track (Door Squeak) that was a bonus on the Atavistic release (2007) is not included. The version of Strange Strange on the Atavistic release runs at 20:24 whilst the version on the upcoming CD (via Bandcamp site) is only 8:33
  12. yep, definitely three sets left to go
  13. I've been pushing the idea of a Harriott Mosaic box for years but in the words of that great aussie movie "The Castle" - "Tell 'im 'e's dreamin"
  14. Got the latest Dutton/Vocalion email - unbelievably disappointing - looks like they've lost interest in jazz - all of those wonderful Harriott & Garrick releases are gone bar one or two - nothing new of interest for me. I picked up so much stellar British Jazz from them over the last 16 years (Harriott, D'Silva, Keane, Garrick, McNair, Kirchin, Kinsey, Skidmore, Westbrook, Gibbs, Durham, Beckett, Roza, Chisholm, Will Power, Russell, Graham, Melody Maker All Stars, Laurie Johnson, KPM Library, Jazz In Britain '68-69 & even Thad Jones) - most of this material is missing/OOP. A pity indeed.
  15. Downloaded the files & created the three CDrs yesterday - tremendous music; the first two discs are live recordings at Hatfield Forum (Hertfordshire Uni, no audience) from a single date (79) - the Spotlite LP "Fingers Remember Mingus" was created (edited tracks) from this session - here are the non edited versions plus alternate takes, rehearsals & dialogue. The third disc is live (with audience) & BBC broadcast recordings. The interplay between Coxhill & Turner is astounding, seeing Turner was considered "old school".
  16. It's two live trio releases 1. Trilogue - live Berlin Nov 76 with Pastorius & Mouzon 2. Live In Montreux - July 80 with JF Jenny-Clark & Ronald Shannon Jackson
  17. it was released round 2008 in those multi set MPS compilations (two 5CD box sets plus live & solo twofers)- I can't believe it's 15 years since I bought these - are they still available BTW? https://www.discogs.com/release/4267753-Albert-Mangelsdorff-Originals-Vol-1
  18. Fletcher Henderson has been covered in the Hawkins & Hampton Mosaics but I would still like to see a dedicated FH set
  19. Nimbus West Records Quality Albums Since 1978 The IUCC series continues with 3 incredible concerts from Horace Tapscott and the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra. Just landed - NOW SHIPPING March 79 : the Ark in transition , Jesse Sharps has recently left to serve in the armed forces, and the setlist pays tribute to his songwriting genius, with both Mykowski’s 1st Fifth and the legendary “Desert Fairy Princess” written for and lead by the desert fairy princess herself, Adele Sebastian. This is where Sabir Mateen steps into the spotlight with the debut performance of his iconic and monumental VILLAGE DANCE. LIVE at IUCC 3/25/79 cd NS-7903c April 1979 saw the Arkestra further settling into the new lineup after the departure of Jesse Sharps , featuring wonderful takes of both the Village Dance, and Mykowski’s 1st Fifth.. Adele Sebastian and Sabir Mateen really stepping in to lead the group to new heights. An unheard Tapscott gem , Song of Emanon, would fit comfortably in a film, and is painted with delicate detail by the master himself.. finally, Duke Ellington’s birthday is honored with an unforgettable Tapscott take of Mood Indigo. LIVE at IUCC 4/29/79 cd NS-7904c September 1979 features a beautiful and heartfelt rendition of Coltrane’s EQUINOX, which flows into Tapscott’s singular Coltrane Medley. The completely unheard Sabir Mateen composition , A Call For Truth, is here finally for all to devour in its full glory.. After burning down the room with “Leland’s Song” ,Linda Hill takes the mic for the deep soulful take of Come Sunday. A full band take on Alan Hines’s “Speedy Mike” rounds out the proceedings of another classic Sunday afternoon. LIVE at IUCC 9/30/79 cd NS-7907c Limited to 333 copies each- ORDER NOW at www.nimbuswestrecords.com 3 to go!!! - hopefully we'll receive all 10 this year
  20. I'd totally forgotten that Chris McGregor played on one track (Poor Boy) from Nick Drake's "Bryter Layter" LP. Re-read it recently in Morton Jack's new ND biography "The Life". The piano work throughout the track is prominent & funky. This is one of the rare occasions where Nick played electric guitar (he borrowed Simon Nichols Gibson L-7C archtop) "Immediately before Nick arrived for the session Joe had been working with Chris McGregor, who was still smoking dope in the control room. He stuck around and, says Joe, 'jumped up spontaneously', playing an immaculate piano part in one take".
  21. Is there a Rollins article/story included?
  22. Yep, picked up a copy at the time - was a winner IMHO
  23. I had a number of communications with Michael in the 90s suggesting a BH Mosaic set - he was keen but had difficulty in choosing a cut-off date so in the end it didn't happen, until now
  24. The very best of Waldron/Lacy recorded live (over 4 hours worth) in Paris over 4 days in mid August '81 - spectacular music
