  1. Jazz At The St James - Intone CD - very obscure New Zealand release
  2. Bernie McGann - Playground (Rufus) 1996 Australia artist Dave Brewer
  3. Chris Connor aussie Bethlehem 10" LP - no 10" version in the states AFAIK Variety of David Stone Martin 10" Clef covers - his work really resonates with me And finally an original US Contemporary 10"
  4. Steve Allan (Allen) unique aussie 10" LP cover with spelling mistake (possibly UK also?) - AFAIK was only a 12" in the states with a different cover June Christy aussie Capitol 10" - unique cover to Australia Young At Bop V/A 10" aussie Mercury compilation 10"
  5. BTW, Most's Bethlehem catalogue was rereleased round 2013-2014 on the Japanese Solid Label (part of the massive Bethlehem reissue series) - really dig his Bethlehem sessions https://www.discogs.com/release/10346180-Sam-Most-Musically-Yours https://www.discogs.com/release/11372036-Sam-Most-Plays-Bird-Bud-Monk-And-Miles https://www.discogs.com/release/12755874-Sam-Most-The-Amazing-Mr-Sam-Most https://www.discogs.com/release/11425992-Sam-Most-Sextette-Im-Nuts-About-The-MostSam-That-Is
  6. have you listened to any of the Steve Lacy/Mal Waldron collaborations - sublime stuff IMHO My favourite is the Hat/Hatology 4CD set "Live At Dreher, 1981" Also currently enjoying the recent CD reissue of Waldron/Terumasa's "Reminiscent Suite"
  7. Thanks for the review Pim - will probably get this before it sells out - picked up a few SAM items in the past, most recently the wonderful Billy Harper LP BTW I was very into Magma in the 70s - still have some of their vinyl
  8. Parkeriana (OW!) from this concert is 21:21 in the Mosaic box & at approximately 09:52 Byard's piano solo (with drums) ceases, there is a short lull in the music then Richmond's drum solo commences then around 10:18 a saxophone (tenor) commences. It does sound like Ow! has been cut in half on Ulysse AROC CD 1001 from what you have described. Yes, the third track should be So Long Eric if Ow! has been split into two components.
  9. Anyone have/read either of these recently published (independantly) Steven Cerra volumes? https://www.amazon.com/JAZZ-WEST-COAST-READER-1/dp/B0DHH5XCBH/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1W6D7GS7E4NCT&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.cvhBNbzdDCH2WeFY6SsWV5n6DHOW-ArHpUweQtRKG_WLlbk7o7GBrxEztgPowLs7Pgq10jEFzOTacHNu9ynO6DSsLufRWRfar_jE3h3W0i92cuTWdkhZU_5JL8rygMChD-f0qZVclwskpXXlSxYL7v09sWZ3rxLLOYOyjRxh_icvM_1-yaz6RvUo8aEI_KnDDQ2frcTlxh4HKYRs7GYXGwCeYbg58pF67btKh0ij47k.rKxUoRhIXjicXzn2Vnx5oOm391ryZXcJWyI8Cyi4ZEk&dib_tag=se&keywords=Jazz+west+coast&qid=1732173578&s=books&sprefix=jazz+west+coast%2Cstripbooks-intl-ship%2C299&sr=1-2 https://www.amazon.com/Jazz-West-Coast-Reader-2/dp/B0DL5KLL88/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1W6D7GS7E4NCT&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.cvhBNbzdDCH2WeFY6SsWV5n6DHOW-ArHpUweQtRKG_WLlbk7o7GBrxEztgPowLs7Pgq10jEFzOTacHNu9ynO6DSsLufRWRfar_jE3h3W0i92cuTWdkhZU_5JL8rygMChD-f0qZVclwskpXXlSxYL7v09sWZ3rxLLOYOyjRxh_icvM_1-yaz6RvUo8aEI_KnDDQ2frcTlxh4HKYRs7GYXGwCeYbg58pF67btKh0ij47k.rKxUoRhIXjicXzn2Vnx5oOm391ryZXcJWyI8Cyi4ZEk&dib_tag=se&keywords=Jazz+west+coast&qid=1732173578&s=books&sprefix=jazz+west+coast%2Cstripbooks-intl-ship%2C299&sr=1-3
  10. just found a second hand copy (CDs) here in Australia - wonderful stuff - Mosaic has done quite a service wrt JT with two dedicated sets (Capitol 50s & Roulette) plus partial (Classic Capitol, Commodore, HRS, Okeh/Brunswick (Beiderbecke), Savory, V-Disc)
  11. Definitely go for the Byas box - that was one of my most desired Mosaic sets prior to release (up there with Lucky Thompson & Wardell Gray which unfortunately havn't transpired though the Select series almost produced a Lucky set)
  12. no Luciano, actually Lithuanian (both parents) but I was born in London then migrated (with family) to Australia in 1961 & have lived here since. My parents just liked that name Are you aware of the massive 5 volume "Il Jazz Californiano, 1951-1960" written by Antonio Lanza - just published this year It's Italian text only but one of my work colleagues (who is Italian) here in Brisbane has translated the first volume into english after I introduced her to the author via another organissimo member (Dan/Stonewall). Volume one has been published via Amazon https://www.aracneeditrice.eu/pubblicazioni/il-jazz-californiano-1951-1960-antonio-lanza-9791259941978.html https://www.amazon.com/Californian-Jazz-1951-1960-Antonio-Lanza/dp/B0DF2MDYTS/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1732157622&sr=1-1
  13. just checked the Nimbus West site & looks like we have some progress - final discs have arrived but waiting for covers
  14. love it!! just viewed the first clip you feel like you're actually in the room/studio with him
  15. The two tracks from this session had only been previously released on 7" singles AFAIK (Impulse in US & Stateside/Pathe in France with picture sleeve) up until recently with the release of the Hat Hut ezz-thetics CD "Ornette At 12, Crisis To Man On The Moon Revisited" https://www.discogs.com/release/26516852-Ornette-Coleman-Ornette-At-12-Crisis-To-Man-On-The-Moon-Revisited https://www.discogs.com/release/4898073-Ornette-Coleman-Man-On-The-Moon-Growing-Up https://www.discogs.com/release/14778491-Ornette-Coleman-Man-On-The-Moon-Growing-Up There is debate as to whether Don Cherry was present at this session with Ornette overdubbing the trumpet parts (Lord Discography below opts for the latter). See the link below to Valerie Ghent's (Emmanuel's daughter) blog & reminiscences plus comments on her father's unreleased tapes/recordings with Ornette. https://valghent.com/emmanuel-ghent-ornette-coleman-man-on-the-moon/#:~:text=The avant-jazz single Man,%3B Charlie Haden – bass%3B Ed This appears to be a standalone session (for the 7") with Ed Blackwell back on drums, replacing Denardo. RIP Shel Talmy

RIP Shel - expat producer extraordinaire For me the Australian connection with the Easybeats "Friday On My Mind" (Shel resurrected the band with this recording session after they had moved from Australia to the UK & weren't doing too well there) plus the later production of Pentangle's & Roy Harper's early LPs
  17. There's also the Jazz Icons DVD (2007, Reelin' In The Years) "Charles Mingus - Live In '64" - stunning vision (& sound) of the touring band in Belgium (April 19 - no LP/CD release AFAIK), Norway (April 12) & Sweden (April 13) from this tour

Both titles from Charles Mingus JWS005S also on Fantasy JWS9 titled "Charles Mingus : Town Hall Concert"; with erroneous location as "Tyrone Guthrie Theatre, Minneapolis" - further adding to the confusion is that Charles Mingus JWS009 is on May 13, 1965.
