  1. Hello,

I have a lot of (almost everything) of original Blue Note records from a private collection of an old relative, in realy perfect state.

I would like to sell them but I have realy no idea where to go.

Looked on ebay but I don't think this is the right place, I saw a lot of records

    around 5 or 10 USD.

In fact I'm looking for a place to offer my records to the real collectors (world wide) because a lot of these records are worth between 200 and 500 Euro's each.

Does anyone know a place for me to offer my records?

    Thanx in advance!

The right records can bring big dollars on Ebay. There are plenty of dealers offering low price junk, but when original Blue Notes in good condition are listed, they usually end up bringing serious prices. Try doing a search for some of the titles you have under "completed listings". You may be happy with what you see. If you choose to list the records, make sure that you list the address on the label and on the jacket, and show a picture of the jacket and the label with your listing.

    Good luck!

  2. I just finished watching season 1 of SOAP.

I'm thinking of picking up Hill Stree Blues. :tup

    Any fans?

    Big fan here! :tup

I watched this show religiously when it first aired. This was around the time when I first had a VCR, still a novelty at the time, and found myself taping the show, and liking certain episodes so much I'd watch them a second time a few days later. Have considered renting the DVD's, but I suspect that even after all these years I still remember the episodes too well.

  3. Has anyone attended a show in the present tour of Wayne Henderson and the Jazz Crusaders? I see that Wayne is the only member of the original group in the band, and I wondered what it was like.

This seems a little strange, as Wayne left the band many years ago, and the remaining three continued for some time without him. I'm surprised that the other three would allow Henderson use of the name, although they dropped the "Jazz" a long time ago.

  4. Does anyone know where to find his current touring schedule? I missed an opportunity to see him live in Freiburg, Germany about five years ago and would love to have another chance to catch a performance.

A friend who saw him in Europe this summer said that he looked very frail, and had to be helped on stage. Hopefully this is a temporary situation. :(

  5. I was sucessful in repressing this memory until you brought it up  . Seriously, the only part I remember is something like "TM in the AM". As I recall there wasn't much substance to the lyrics unless you were a devotee of the movement. I pretty much avoided that one but listened to the work that he did on that album with Gabor Szabo minus any Beach Boys.

As I recall, the lyrics went "TM (repeated a few times), In the AM, In the PM, Aaaahhh, Jai Guru Dev"

I kinda liked the track at the time, being a fan of the Beach Boys' lush harmony.

"Warm Waters" was severely marred, as I recall, by Lloyd's vocals, and the Beach Boys were less involved.

  6. NYPD Blue - first two seasons

I rented these because my SO had never seen the first few seasons. I was pleasantly surprised at how much more I liked John Kelley (David Caruso) than I remembered. But then when Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) joins in season 2, the series really kicks into high gear. Season 3 is out next week, and I've already got them in my Netflix queue.

    Curb Your Enthusiasm

    The Sopranos

    Six Feet Under

    Band of Brothers

I don't get HBO, so I'm glad that they have made these available, although the most recent seasons of Curb & Six Feet aren't out yet.

    Peter Gunn

Rented the first disc out of curiosity, having been very young when the show first aired. Nice music, and an occasional guest jazzman - I've already spotted Victor Feldman and Shorty Rogers. The show itself - OK, not great. Hilarious hipster lingo pops up here and there.

    SCTV 90

Have already gone through two seasons, even though I watched the show religiously when it first aired. Some of the comedy holds up, some of it doesn't.

Have Gun Will Travel disc one

Again, a show that was on when I was a young child. Found it rather disappointing after all these years.

    Once and Again

A chick show I avoided when it originally aired, but I kept hearing how wonderful it was, so I rented one disc to satisfy my curiosity. Got hooked, and hope they release the remaining episodes. :(

    Deadwood

As a David Milch fan, I was curious about this, but gave up after two discs.

    Saturday Night Live

Best of Phil Hartman and Best of Christopher Walken are priceless!

  7. One of my most favorites. Everybody came to play. It, Cornbread, and Sidewinder are my "Top Three" Lee BNs over the long haul. They're all good (or better), but those are the "special" ones to me.

Sidewinder and Cornbread are tops for me, along with Search For the New Land, The Cooker, and Rumproller.

The Gigolo would be in the second tier, near great, along with Delightfulee, Candy, and Lee-Way.

All of the others are merely wonderful.

  8. I saw Horace Parlan a couple of times in the 1960's before he left the States, and one time was about six feet away from him watching his hands, not believing what I was hearing. The movement in his right hand is very restricted, and his left hand compensates by covering both parts while he punctuates ideas with his rigid right hand. A superb musician, and an inspiration.
