  1. Yes indeed Bill, more piano now:
  2. Ray Bryant - Alone With The Blues
  3. Coltrane - Live at the Village Vanguard
  4. This evening: Trane Whistle - Eddie Lockjaw Davis big band Another record I've never heard before. I really am a sucker for Oliver Nelson.
  5. Mine is the altogether humbler OJC, still a very nice-sounding record IMO
  6. Charlie Parker memorial Vol 1 I found myself wondering who was the pianist, and was surprised to read it was Dizzy. Then Tadd Dameron "Study in Dameronia", with a very young-sounding Benny Golson
  7. Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants - sounds fresh as a daisy
  8. Today, so far: Wayne Shorter - Night Dreamer. I'd never heard this before, even on CD Coltrane - Live at the Village Vanguard
  9. Resurrecting a moribund thread, I today bought some records, including Ornette Coleman's "Chappaqua Suite". The inner sleeves of UK CBS LPs of that era had "The Sound Of Entertainment" printed around the label cut out. A previous owner had struck a line through "entertainment" and written "DISCORD" above. Made me smile.
  10. Yes, I like this album. I only realised yesterday that it's 3/5 of the band from "Harold In The Land Of Jazz" (swap Jack Sheldon and Curtis Counce for Rolf Ericson and Leroy Vinnegar). Both excellent albums anyway, Land and Perkins are always worth listening to, IMO
  11. Yes, that's the one, beautiful
  12. I forget the name of the ballad (and of the clarinettist) on that LP, but it is a beautiful-sounding thing

    Nice ^
  14. Ace thread, I've been here 9 years and never seen it before.
  15. Mayweather - McGregor is a relatively cheap £20 here in the UK, broadcast by Sky
  16. I have had a few over the years, sold some when I should have hung on them a bit longer. The blue and silver label is the sexiest label in vinyl, IMO
  17. We're having our usual Northern English summer, uncomfortably hot for one day, wet and cool for three!
  18. Ah, didn't know it was defunct.
  19. Obviously no Howard Johnsons here, but the mere mention of the name makes me think of Zappa's "Billy The Mountain", with Flo and Eddie squeaking "Howard Johnsons Howard Johnsons Howard Johnsons"
  20. The Costco hot dog is my favourite hot dog ever, £1.50 here. Talking of 5 Guys, we went on Saturday - it was undoubtedly a top-notch burger, but at over £40 for four of us (2 adults, 2 children) it's a once-a-year job.
  21. Tadd Dameron - Dameronia (Prestige)
  22. Who knew eh?
